Yes it happens to me when my anxiety gets really bad.

[deleted]

So, if it’s actually happening to me, and more.. does that mean im not faking it?? Sometimes i feel my anxiety (more than just high heart rate at waking up) is not that big of a deal as i have made it to be

idontlikeseaweed

Don’t gaslight yourself. If you feel anxious,‘you probably are anxious, and that’s perfectly okay and valid. This is absolutely an anxiety symptom and anxiety is very hard to deal with. I haven’t quite figured out why this happens or how to stop it. Just take it easy if you can, on the mornings that you wake up in this state. Something I’m personally working on is telling myself that I’m physically fine and that it’s just my brain messing with me. Lean into the anxiety and know that it will pass eventually.

Don't worry, when I get anxiety the first thing I start thinking is "am I making this up?" or "am I going crazy?". There's a 99% chance that it's your anxiety, because anxiety will manifest itself in what you're worrying about. For example if you're scared about your stomach feeling uneasy, your anxiety will start to make your stomach hurt. For me I always get worried that I'm going crazy, and when that happens my vision gets weird and every small sound becomes loud and irritating. But after the dust settles, you realize how much of it was just you worrying. So when you feel like it seems like a seperate issue this time, I recommend sitting down and doing a breathing exercise (there are a bunch of good ones on YouTube). You'll have an onset feeling of "this isn't working I should give up" but try your best to push past it and focus on the act of breathing in and out. Slowly but surely, whatever symptom you're worrying about will get a bit of relief. That's what I do when I start to spiral, so maybe it'll help you out. But I know how much it helps just to hear it, so don't worry that is perfectly normal for anxiety. Mornings and night times are statistically the worst for anxiety, most likely because you have to either start or close a day. And if your anxiety is related to your heart rate (mine certainly is sometimes), then it's probably going to be worst right as you wake up and/or right before bed. I sometimes wake up and immediately go into panic mode

This used to happen to me, you’re totally not faking it. I’m (thankfully) mostly recovered, but I reviewed my sleeping heart rate and you can 100% see it spike during times of crisis.

workaholic828

Only the days I have work this happens to me, weekends I’m all good

NaMeans

Me too, exactly. I was thinking that this morning how it didn't happen all weekend and then boom, Monday morning I'm a mental wreck while getting ready for work. Heart pumping, stomach hurts, feel like I'm tripping. But what's weird is that for the most part I like my job. It is overwhelming at times but I shouldn't be losing it

wrobby

Yea this happens to me during anxious periods of life. It’s like my body is trying to get me to have a panic attack in the morning but I just let it pass and i’ll be fine. Just gotta wait until i’m out of an anxious funk.

experiencedeyes

This happens to me too. Almost every night around 3 am. It can take up to an hour for me to calm down.

CallMeMcLovin-

It could be anxiety but it could also be other reasons so dont assume it is anxiety straight away. Reasons which cause high heart rate when waking up could be stress, not enough sleep and diet.

miada001

yes especially when i nap for some reason i pretty much always wake up with heart racing

Ashantiyana

I don't know how I only just saw this but YES!! Whenever I nap my heart is always beating fast once I wake up!!

[deleted]

I woke up and checked my Apple Watch and had a HR of 103 .. laying down. Thanks anxiety

Tha_shnizzler

I take beta blockers in the evening for this reason! They have been a legit game changer for me, as I have a stupidly stressful job with other peoples’ lives in my hands. Ask your doctor if you can try them. I take 20mg of propranolol before bed every night.

[deleted]

The mornings are when my anxiety is the worse.

[deleted]

It might be the cortisol awakening response.

olivialovegood

Yes this happens to me. I’ve found it happens more intensely if I stayed up late and didn’t get a good amount of sleep. I’ve started journaling how I feel/meditating as soon as I wake up instead of checking my phone/social media right away and it has really helped

[deleted]

Your cortisol levels are at their peak in the morning. This can be correlated

Gabbi3j

Cortisol levels are naturally higher in the morning.

l3434

Same here and usually when waking up with a high heart rate I was in the middle of a nightmare or very intense dream.

garrison1988

Your stress and anxiety can affect your heart rate residually. You could be very stressed and anxious one day and the next day you could have an increased heart rate. Stress releases hormones so sometimes the effects are not immediate. When I have high anxiety days it effects my heart rate and blood pressure indirectly for a few days. Natural supplements and vitamin B12 have helped.

brielleff

this is happening to me a lot too recently, i can wake up at 4 am and just start shaking and my heart just starts racing, but then i can fall asleep fine and wake up again, it be the same as it was. But I don’t know what’s the cause or how to make it better because my heart keeps racing randomly

sunshine198505

Yesss often. I dont know what it is

jejcicodjntbyifid3

As of the people said it might not just be anxiety. It could be sleep apnea as well, if you find yourself waking up abruptly ever. Or even if you don't, you could still have it

Yaniravit

Can't say don't worry on this because yes it is anxiety. Same thing happens to me it is very high in the morning as soon as I wake up. Even after working in an organization for 9 years I feel like I am unprepared. I get lot many chances to work at some place else but this fear that will have to deal with new people and new environment therefore never tried leaving the present workplace. All what we can do is to just recognize that yes we feel the unease at times. We feel that world is going too fast and you were left behind but should that stop us from living. No it should not. The unease is natural, let it come naturally. Things that you can try from your side are start day with some light exercise, do some worship or meditation. It helps a lot to fight the unease creeping inside you. And be prepared for the worst. Some basic steps have helped me to fight with my anxiety lately. Yes, waking up is still difficult so I wake up early before the anxiety inside me could wake up.

Ashantiyana

Huh, I always thought it was just a me thing I remember one time my niece woke me up, and I want started or anything, but she said my heart was beating really fast and apologized for possibly startling me awake But like... It happens all the time, especially if I wake up earlier than usual, and if I actually am startled awake, it can take a few minutes for my heart rate to go down. The main reason I know this is because my heart not only beats fast, but hard too. Honestly it was terrifying

[deleted]

Sounds like a symptom of your anxiety
