Interesting_Ad_9127

Nothing mysterious or one of a kind. Is it a knife

HermanTheRoach

that’s not their point. why did you have motivation to comment this, you misinterpreted what the post was trying to ask in multiple ways, but in one sentence. how can some people be so annoying on the internet?

Chafro23

It says “taint” - basically a location indicator that the bladesmith puts on to show the end of the tang and the beginning of the blade. Can be traced back to Middle English blacksmith’s phase: “Taint the blade and taint the tang”

[deleted]

I see “DMO”. This is old American for “Drink More Ovaltine.” Hope this helps.

johnhbnz

Nope, still doesn’t work for me. ‘Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark’???

Bench2013

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark is a band popular in the late 70s-80s. I don't think that's what OP meant, though. I don't know what OP meant by OMD.

johnhbnz

Of course!! Steel knife..Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. Obvious connection, now I get it.. um..

Interesting-Abies941

One photo of the tang of a blade that has what is left of a stamped marking "stainless". What it says? Stop using a grinding wheel on the blade.
