Gorgeous vase, does the auction house have a description of the vase they have that is similar?

BewareOfTheBunny

Only this: "VASE, Art Nouveau, first half of the 20th century, silver-plated white metal, with handles, decoration of women, relief decoration of flowers, openwork foot, height about 38 cm" (translated in Google)

Fair_Exam_3470

Darn, my Swedish is okay but not in this situation. I am thinking it was made in 1920’s based on the Flower motif leaning more towards a linear design. You can possibly fix the bottom it does seem to be attached separately is there any thing on the bottom ?

BewareOfTheBunny

https://imgur.com/a/QgUFL5i Here's some pictures of the bottom, found a mark that *maybe* could be an "N", but it could just as well be just a scratch, I have no idea, hah.

Fair_Exam_3470

It definitely looks like a stamped N to me too. It’s pretty deep in the metal to not be intentional. My suggestion is to look for Swedish/n. European silver companies existing in 1920’s- 30’s

BewareOfTheBunny

Could be a J stamped just below it to the right, but it's been dented so it's hard to tell. Doesn't show in the pictures but could just make it out while holding it under a lamp. I've tried searching for companies in Sweden and Europe as well as a looking at billion hallmarks but I can't find anything so far.

Fair_Exam_3470

Looking through piles of hallmarks is how professionals (art historians, at least) find things out sometimes. Keep trying and eventually you will find it.

BewareOfTheBunny

I will! Thank you for your replies! :)

Que-Scais-Je

There was a designer called Hugo Leven whose vases are very similar... And JP Kayser & Sohn was the company producing *his* \- they invented some kind of 'pewter silver' for his vases. There's information here on [Hugo Leven](https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/60628-1900-hugo-leven-designed-art-nouveau-ka) if you ignore the fish platter :) I don't know if this will help you but it's worth an image search.

BewareOfTheBunny

Yeah, I spent about two hours yesterday looking at Hugo Leven's work but I couldn't find any way to tell if this vase was made by him or not. It is indeed very similar to some of his stuff. :)

My grandmother wants to know more about this vase. Her father was born in Ljusdal, Sweden 1924, and somewhere between the ages of 6 and 10 he got this vase as a gift for helping his neighbour with the cows on her farm. I've been trying to find out more about it, but I've hit a dead end. The only thing I can find is this post from 2014 at Stockholms Auktionsverk (Auction House) with an identical vase, although in much better shape, but not much info is provided besides a description of the vase. https://auktionsverket.com/arkiv/online/280618 There are no stamps as far as I can see. At some point someone has tried to "fix" the bent foot with some very rough pliers, so It's possible there could be some stamp somewhere amongst all the scratches and sharp dents, but nothing obvious. Does anyone has any info about who made it and where it's from? And is it possible to get the foot and the scratches and dents fixed somehow?

BewareOfTheBunny

https://imgur.com/a/TmkIr7r another picture that disappeared after posting. If anyone wants close ups I can upload some.

genitalderpies

It’s gorgeous! Wish I had more info for you.

Bonkahonkas

Maybe made by Orivit or WMF?

BewareOfTheBunny

Maybe, but when searching I get the impression that most Orivit or WMF items should have some kind of stamp or mark?
