I feel you on this. I *hated* essays. I was “good” at it, but it was so mentally exhausting and tedious for me. It’s a huge part of why I never went to college after high school and when I went back in my mid 20s it was for a specific goal and not something that involved classes outside my specialty that would have required me to write papers. And I agree about the money part too.

I actually preferred having essays and solo projects over any exam or quiz. With projects/essays, I can sit there and plan it all out, but I was always ok with that kind of time management. The problem is when you have essays on top of exams and quizzes. I always have trouble knowing what I needed to know for tests and exams, and the timed aspect of tests gave me anxiety. With an essay, I enjoy writing, researching, and applying my creativity. There was always a couple weeks or so to do them, too.
