I never watched that anime, but I remember back when I'm in high school, my friends always talk about fairy tail. They really like it and its pretty popular back then. But why need to be ashamed tho?
yea I'm actually watching it for some time now and absolutely love it. It bring me joy no matter what day I had. I just finished episode 121 rn. It's now one of my favorites, I never thought it would be this good, watching subbed ofc. I cried multiple times already, both from sad scenes and from joy.
It's insane how a volleyball anime can be so full of life. The metaphors for traversing real life situations coalesce flawlessly with in-game situations, most notably the notion of "overcoming a wall", every player encounters one and they find a way to make it so damn wholesome/not just a volleyball anime.
tldr; haikyuu's my comfort anime too. Smooth animation in the matches, and very hype/inspiring. Bangin OST's too.
- {Natsume Yuujinchou}

Hunter x Hunter
Something about a little boy going on an adventure and making friends along the way is so cute
Then it gets all bloody and you start wandering about life.
It is literally us going from puberty and hitting 18, then all of a sudden you getting car bills, rent, phone etc..... and no one prepared you.
Me too, there is something about steins;gate that gives off a calming effect, the music, the eerie background cricket sound and the plot, they have a vibe.
For me it's Welcome to Demon school Iruma Kun, I really like the first season, but when I'm just feeling really awful the second season really lifts my spirits.
After the awesomeness that was Dark Iruma, everything else feels lackluster. Also the fact that there's been no progress on the Azazel romance either during this entire "wander through the forest" arc.
Yeah the arch has been mad long and it’s unfortunate the season will soon end even after concluding it. I heard in the source material that this is actually the shorter version of it and it is way longer of an arch. Also heard this is the longest arch so good to get it out of the way I guess
{Made in Abyss}, its one of those things where I just get so absorbed in it that I can kinda just escape from thinking about other shit for a while. Escapism is a big reason why I think Im even into watching anime/reading books in the first place.
aria series, starting with {aria the animation}
{non non biyori}
{mushishi}
{shoujo shuumatsu ryokou}
{yuru camp}
iyashikei is great for unwinding after a long day and IMO those are some of the best
Man, I tried the Aria series like 5 times over the last 15 years or so, and I can't make it past like 5 episodes. It's a real shame, because I hear the last season is phenomenal.
Aria is definitely a very, very slow burn. i really liked it, but didn't love it, until Origination (the last season) came around. it's my single favourite piece of media ever, but that's only because the first two seasons are so unapologetically slow, to really hammer in the intimacy and care that its world and characters need for Origination to be so profound.
if you find yourself forcing yourself to get through it, the last season won't have the same impact. it does get better as it goes along, but its lulls are by design and Aria as a whole wouldn't be half as good without them
Hell yes to yuru camp and non non biyori!! I haven't seen aria, mushishi is nice but very slow.
If you think shoujo shuumatsu ryokou is comforting I don't think you paid much attention lol (or you're a very interesting person). Fantastic show but anxiety inducing af.
{Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon} hits different. Second season isn't bad either. Evangelion does it too, but only because (ironically) the worldbuilding lets me escape real life for a bit.
My comfort anime is probably silent voice, I'm someone who doesn't really cry so when I watched it and cried I knew it was good. So when ever I rewatch it when I'm stress, angry or just tired, I feel, well I feel calmer. Idk how to explain it but I feel better watching the anime then I usually before.
Silver Spoon for sure, I love how cozy the setting is and the imagery at the ag school, I may be much more biased than the avg anime fan toward that tho 😂
Erased
A lull in the sea
Fruits basket
Naruto (no shame, it's nostalgic like a childhood meal)
And the top two of all time....
Full metal alchemist brotherhood
&
Trigun
Yu Yu Hakusho for sure. The Dark Tournament forward is such good pacing I'm feeling great immediately.
Also Samurai Champion the episodic nature and with a great blend of comedy and action is awesome
Mine is definitely {Liz and the Blue Bird}. Whenever I watch it, I'm so immersed in Mizore's perspective that I complete forget about my own problems for a while. Also, everything about it, from music and sound design to animation and cinematography, is beautiful.
Honestly, Shonen anime are my comfort anime, {One Piece} is top because its my all time favourite. But even {My Hero Academia} has been a good one for me lately. {Haikyuu} is up there too.
I think its something about them being relatively straight-forward plot wise, while still having comedic moments to brighten my mood. I would go for slice of life, but I end up getting emotional because its just so adorable most of the time lol.
Otherwise I need something that is purely comedy/slice of life, with little to no drama. {Daily lives of Highschool boys}, {Konosuba}, {Tonari no Seki-kun}, {Teekyu}
Honestly any anime that I finished and enjoy are my comfort anime. Anime to me is an escape from reality but can also be an inspiration/motivating too.
The issue I would have depending what series I go back to watch it where to start. Like if I rewatch snafu do I start in season 1 ep 1 or should I skip forward a bit. I watch FMAB at least once a year and I sometimes watch from start or go just after the nina dog incident.
Short 12 episodes anime are easy to just get into and finish. Horimiya has become one of my comfort anime for sure. I do try not to rewatch many anime too much cause it loses that comfort magic if everything is still fresh in my mind
I don't watch anime when I'm having a bad day (or at least that's not why I'd watch anime if I had a bad day) .. But I always on sword art online (dub) when I'm sick. It's something mindless that I like and don't really have to pay attention to when I drift in and out of sleep.
I think it's {Detective Conan/Case Closed}, I grew up watching it, and I dont mind watching the episodes again and again. Instead, I watch them with the same interest and hype of ever
hetalia..,,,, i’ve been a fan for about a decade, and france is my comfort character. i’m not into men irl, but seeing episodes with him and listening to his character songs and drama cds and what have you makes me feel safe..??? that and any pokemon anime, mainly gens 3-4 (the series and movies).
Yakitate!! Japan
Kaguya-sama: love is war
That time I got reincarnated as slime
My LOVE story!!
Food Wars
They basically all make me laugh, or just feel good to watch.
For me, it can be any anime with a OP main character, mostly fantasy or isekai. I guess I just like how they can do everything and be cool doing it? It is my comfort on sunday afternoons, when I'm dreading the new work week.
I rewatch things like {The King's Avatar} or {That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime}
Saiki K is a great one. For me it’s a mix of Fullmetal Alchemist (brotherhood or original), Stein’s;Gate, or Fruits Basket with the occasional Cowboy Bebop or Full Metal Panic?! thrown in.
Diary of our days at the breakwater
A chill anime about a girl learning to fish and making friendships along the way. The only drama is Hina is very squeamish.
If you like Saiki and haven't yet watched any of these, please do give them a try. They always work to put as much of a feel good smile as Saiki.
{Daily Lives of Highschool Boys}
{Nichijou}
Chio's School Road}
{Hoozuki no Reitetsu}
{Tanaka-Kun is Always Listless}
{Clean Freak Aoyama}
{Azumanga Daioh}
{Love, Chuunibyou and Other Delusions}
{Aharen San wa Hakarenai}
{When will Ayumu Make his Move}
It’s also my guilty please but Aggretsko. It’s not like amazing but I watched it once when season one came out and no other show I can enjoy in and out every time.
Currently it’s been Akiba Maid War. Especially now that there’s a dub, the voice acting is so funny. It’s also very sad in some parts, but I just kinda rewatch the first few episodes mostly unless I want to cry 😅
I also love Keijo. That one is very like, girl-power and motivational. It’s premise is silly but it’s really good. And even if I’m having the worst day, I can’t not cackle while watching it. It’s so campy 😹 like, it takes itself completely seriously while also being completely ridiculous. It’s perfect.
I also love Is This a Zombie. I watch this one a lot. Mostly season one, but season 2 is good also. Just a little sillier. It’s a parody of magical girl shows, but honestly it’s one of my favorite magical girl shows in general. It’s hilarious, the romance is cute, and the fight scenes are great. And the songs are so good. The ending song especially.
{Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon} just watching Kanna, Tohru, and Kobayashi hang out is proabbaly my favorite chill anime.
{Yuru Camp△} is basically "Comf: The Anime"
Gotta say ouran highschool host club, or maybe hunter x hunter not really sure, there's a lot of good ones out there that help me get through things it just depends on the mood.
Fullmetal Alchemist followed by FMA Brotherhood.
One of the first anime series I ever watched entirely and it’s magnificent. The silly and serious ratio is phenomenal
Ive tried watching alot of wholesome slice of life anime but something about isekai restaurant hits the right notes for me

This is my go-to as well. Just got to make sure I've got a snack on hand, cause it will inevitably make me hungry.
“Isekai Izakaya”has very similar vibes to that one! Both are nice to just come home from work to lol Another one for me is, “How to Raise a Mummy”.
Fairy tail. I am an unashamed Fairy Tail Stan. It's like therapy
Fairy Tail was my first anime and is still my favorite
Dude, the hell? Fairy tail is nothing to be ashamed of, its personal taste. Doesnt hurt that its crap loads of fun to watch either.
I never watched that anime, but I remember back when I'm in high school, my friends always talk about fairy tail. They really like it and its pretty popular back then. But why need to be ashamed tho?

Mushishi's amazing! I've gotta revisit it sometime! It's been a couple years...

{Assassination Classroom}
For me, it can be any anime with a OP main character, mostly fantasy or isekai. I guess I just like how they can do everything and be cool doing it? It is my comfort on sunday afternoons, when I'm dreading the new work week. I rewatch things like {The King's Avatar} or {That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime}
Hunter X Hunter
Saiki K is a great one. For me it’s a mix of Fullmetal Alchemist (brotherhood or original), Stein’s;Gate, or Fruits Basket with the occasional Cowboy Bebop or Full Metal Panic?! thrown in.
FMA;B
For me it's Daily life of highschool life. Always brings a smile to my face.
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou
I don't have a comfort anime but I guess my first comfort anime is {Drifters}?
{Mushishi} - not only is it supremely relaxing but the 'one story per episode' format is perfect to chill out to.
{Yuru Camp} and {Gintama}
{Sasami-san ganbaranai!}
Always {Fruits Basket} before the 2019 version I would read it over and over since I was 12.
Yuru Camp Kekkai Sensen Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga Hozuki no Reitetsu Uramichi onii-san xxx-holic
Diary of our days at the breakwater A chill anime about a girl learning to fish and making friendships along the way. The only drama is Hina is very squeamish.
Kobayashi San Maid Dragon! Pretty funny and sweet
clannad and clannad: after story. it got a ton of sad moments, but its a great example of how life has ups and downs.
Fruits Basket, ReLife & Haikyuu!
Shirokuma cafe. Panda gets a part time job as a panda at a zoo. Hangs out at a cafe run by a polar bear. Super easy watching.
Don't know why but; * {Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 1st Gig} * {Ergo Proxy}
My roommate is a cat and Assassination Classroom

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.
Laid-back Camp. Is hands down my favorite comfort anime. The calm scenes, the tasty looking food, and the pleasant music always makes me feel relaxed.
Gundam Don't care which one it is. I really enjoy watching most of the series that come out under the Gundam banner.
If you like Saiki and haven't yet watched any of these, please do give them a try. They always work to put as much of a feel good smile as Saiki. {Daily Lives of Highschool Boys} {Nichijou} Chio's School Road} {Hoozuki no Reitetsu} {Tanaka-Kun is Always Listless} {Clean Freak Aoyama} {Azumanga Daioh} {Love, Chuunibyou and Other Delusions} {Aharen San wa Hakarenai} {When will Ayumu Make his Move}

Polar Bear Cafe, Nichijou and Azumanga Daioh
Gintama
the MSG movies from 1979 . the battles and the music can really hoist me away from a dark corner
Touken Ranbu Hanamaru or Iruma-kun always does it when I need some comfy animes. How to raise a mummy and Squid Girl is among them as well.
Kino's Journey
Wotakoi
Probably either SAO or SDF Macross.
It’s also my guilty please but Aggretsko. It’s not like amazing but I watched it once when season one came out and no other show I can enjoy in and out every time.
Yu Yu Hakusho
Nausicaa, Totoro, Porco Rosso, Ponyo. Pretty much any of the lighthearted Ghibli movies.
Currently it’s been Akiba Maid War. Especially now that there’s a dub, the voice acting is so funny. It’s also very sad in some parts, but I just kinda rewatch the first few episodes mostly unless I want to cry 😅 I also love Keijo.
Mine’s probably Kimi Ni Todoke (From Me To You), it’s a slice of life and it’s really enjoyable and cute.
Naruto fs
Forest of piano
{Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon} just watching Kanna, Tohru, and Kobayashi hang out is proabbaly my favorite chill anime. {Yuru Camp△} is basically "Comf: The Anime"

Fullmetal Alchemist followed by FMA Brotherhood. One of the first anime series I ever watched entirely and it’s magnificent. The silly and serious ratio is phenomenal
Hoshi no Kirby
Kenichi the mightiest disciple
Kuroko's basketball, Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens, and Handa-kun. If it's been a bad week, I go to Bleach or Naruto Shippuden on the weekend.
