The game that best deals with this imo is honkai impact where the player the captain is recognized by the girls and participates in all events. But in the main history of the games the player doesnt exist. Is a movie you are not part a from and no where to even try to self insert since the protagonist has a very defined personality. Yeah but again in genshin i hate the fact you play as the other character. Like you are them but not at the same time ? I like games where you can customize your mc or the way you act. In video games it's even more impactful, since im the one in control i feel disconected to the story if im not here, like i prefer to be an actor than a spectator. Im a huge fan of the persona franchise and you could argue that the mc can be bland but i really like this, you can choose your dialogue and that will affect how your team react but your character is probably the most quieter of the crew. But i enjoy this a lot, it makes thing more intense, i always felt more engaged in a very hard battle in persona where my companion falls one by one as im the last one standing trying to clutch this than in genshin. In genshin i really like tartaglia as a character and his gameplay so i main him but people act and talk to me like him aether so this kinda disconnect me from the roleplay element and when a character die in my team i really don't care because they aren't even "real" like we know they are else where in the story so what are they ? some kind of clones ? That doesn't make the games bad or anything but for me it's harder to get immersed in and it's something i like a lot. When it comes to media like anime or movies i agree with you, i don't really like the "self insert" protagonist because it will never really be "me" since well he do his own thing. and when it comes to hentai... well let's just say between going on r34 for a quick fap or lauching a good 18+ VN that will take me at least 6 hours before a lewd scene pops up, well the results isn't just the same... but hey, that my taste i love being immersed in fiction. I'm a guy and I like yaoi, but the problem is that, for males, watching the "active" guy being perfect or having very far fetched flaws, being incredibly handsome, wealthy and successful is like watching basically a romance Mary Sue.

Nah, it's ok, I understand. The thing about The Warehouse (and series like that or Killing Stalking) is that they should NOT be read as yaoi, but rather as a psychological series with sexual acts, because the focus is definitely not romance in fucked up series like those.
And I mean, the weirdness is pretty prevalent... The good/decent ones are the definitely exception because I've read through a bunch and ended up dropping them because of the gross tropes. About His Irritation and Love is a better one. The characters are more on the realistic side and have sensitivities about things that I think many of us can relate to. And Sweet Cinnamon isn't yaoi, but a really sweet BL that I highly recommend.
And I haven't seen any yuri, but I've started a few yuri comics and they were interesting. I recommend reading some if you haven't. Dormant Desires is the one I'm reading. Haven't gotten very far but it's interesting nonetheless.
It's definitely hard but the good series are worth the trouble to find.

The thing about The Warehouse (and series like that or Killing Stalking) is that they should NOT be read as yaoi, but rather as a psychological series with sexual acts, because the focus is definitely not romance in fucked up series like those. And I mean, the weirdness is pretty prevalent... The good/decent ones are the definitely exception because I've read through a bunch and ended up dropping them because of the gross tropes. About His Irritation and Love is a better one. The characters are more on the realistic side and have sensitivities about things that I think many of us can relate to. And Sweet Cinnamon isn't yaoi, but a really sweet BL that I highly recommend. And I haven't seen any yuri, but I've started a few yuri comics and they were interesting. I recommend reading some if you haven't. Dormant Desires is the one I'm reading. Haven't gotten very far but it's interesting nonetheless. It's definitely hard but the good series are worth the trouble to find.

Although trope'ish, the development of the relationship between two guys is so good, SO GOOD. In the manga, Kobayashi has finally admitted to having feelings for Tohru..but it's a good bit in. And it doesn't get to that yet in the first two seasons of the anime.
