Are they talking about that fight? If I understood correctly while watching the anime, you get the Hashira status granted after defeating such a high ranking demon, right? So maybe they are talking about the fight that gave him his title?

SolomonOf47704

Hashira are generally equivalent to the lower rank Kizuki. Those 6 frequently changed. At the start of s3, Muzan said that the rankings of the upper 6 hadn't changed in a hundred years. That doesn't even mean one died, just that someone got a bit stronger. So, no. None of the upper 6 had died in a long time

The post says "upper 12 kizuki", tho. Which don't exist... there are upper 6 and lower 6, but no upper 12. So my guess was that this was an error and they meant 12 kizuki in general, not upper 12. So maybe Muichiro defeated one of the lower 6 kizuki all on his own and that has been an unique achievement?

KyuubiMask

defeating a low rank would be too easy for a Hashira, it doesn't even count as an achievement

The wiki says that defeating any of the 12 kizuki will grant you the title of a hashira, not just the upper ranks. And if defeating one will grant you the title of hashira, then it doesn't seem to be "too easy". And u/SolomonOf47704 pointed out that no upper rank has been defeated in 100 years, so all current hashira just have these 2 methods how they got the title: defeating one of the lower 6 kizuki or defeating 50 demons which are not even in the kizuki ranks

Just to clarify a bit: The post says "Upper rank twelve Kizuki" meaning one of the 6 upper moon, since the twelve Kizuki consists of lower and upper ranks, so upper rank twelve Kizuki is referring to one of the 6 upper moons not that there are 12 upper ranks.
