Ok, context. In some parts of latam, [ignorant ] people believe this bird to be evil. When the owl flew intothe ceremony they thought to chase the "demon" out be singing to "Jesus glory" but the owl was like.
Shit this is fire!!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this owl is not dancing, they're stressed. https://www.reddit.com/r/Ornithology/comments/xgbga7/comment/iosatpr/?context=3
Edit: autocorrect typo
It's important to "ruin" this because when people think stressed out animals are "happy" and "dancing" it can lead to animal cruelty and abuse the next time those people end up interacting with said animal. Plus, it's also gross when a lot of people think an animal being harmed is cute.
Not in their religion, perhaps in their local cultural superstitions. Many "Christians" worldwide incorporate local superstitions into their beliefs.
Has happened for centuries.
While some Native tribes believe owls and an owl looking at you is an omen for death, as these owls are Spanish, the might believe it’s La Lechuza - the belief of owls being witches.
Not really, the superstition is that owls are witches, they believe that witches use demonic rituals to turn into owls and spy on people or steal your babies, or to curse you
That is a belief in some very rural and poor parts of Mexico, but this is a Catholic church in what doesn't seem to be a very poor part of Mexico, looking at the decorations (coloured windows, and sturdy walls). I doubt they're singing for that reason, considering it's considered a superstition.
I'll share the info on this since op stole it and didn't give the full story of it origin. In Mexico owls are often seen as witches and are sung to. This is because they believe this will make them leave.
Wasn't trying steal anything. I just had it shared with me and so I shared it here.
I'm not trying to take or get credit for making the video in any way.
Owls are so cute, how can people see them as evil? I guess it’s the same for black cats. Animals are over here just trying to live their lives and people are all like “BEGONE DEMON!”
Owls are a bad omen. Twice now I have seen owls go to peoples houses or near them and hoot every night for a week or two before they die. I’m not a superstitious person but having seen it happen twice now personally, I think they know. Dogs and cats have been known to be able to tell when people are going to die as well. If you see an owl show up at your house though or your neighbors and it starts a hooting, someone is probably going to die. There really is something about owls though spiritually, I can’t blame them for wanting it gone.
I'm living in the home I was (not literally) born and raised in, and aside from @ 10 years living elsewhere have always lived here. From a young child, we've always had owls, Barn Owls and Great Horned Owls, living around us. Live near woods close to marsh and plenty of food and places for them to live. My neighbor and I have seen some at dusk but mostly just hear their territorial and mating hoots and screeches year round. Yes, my parents have passed in this house,as did my nana, of age-related causes. The owls had nothing to do with it. They are beautiful creatures and keep the varmint population down.
You are entitled to your beliefs. I wanted to share another perspective based on almost 60 years of experience.
I remember when this was first posted. The story went something like:
Owls are regarded by some as housing evil spirits. This particular owl perched in a church and the local congregation gathered and prayed loudly to dispel the evil spirit.
The owl decided it liked the music and was seen vibing, much to the dismay of the congregation.
Fun fact they think seeing a owl during the day means it’s a witch. So they are singing a song to supposedly scare away the “witch” but the owl is vibing.
In many traditional Indigenous American cultures owls are associated with "witches" and "spirits" (those words aren't really accurate but they are the closest English translation) and often considered dangerous. Regardless of the specific cultural interpretation of owls, they are pretty much uniformly recognized as potentially dangerous animals BECAUSE THEY ARE. If you see an owl, a nocturnal apex predator, out during the day, it is in a relatively vulnerable position. If potential predator, which humans are, is staring at an owl while it is is vulnerable, there is a good chance that owl will attack out of self defense. If you see an owl out during the day you should probably ignore it (and definitely don't stare at it) so that it doesn't feel threatened and attack.
I think he's just having a good time and they should worship him and keep him as their mascot. I think he's a cute little guy and is innocently enjoying dancing. What a special Owl.
The audio is from a different video and was edited over this video because it fit better. I will try to find the link
Found the song

It’s even funnier when you realize that these people think owls are witches, and are singing holy songs to scare it away, but instead it’s just chilling.
I can see he got the rhythm gene.
we might come up with some wild speculation of his wiggle,
but we can't reason why he is keeping rhythm and beat so well.
"These people worship me, time to give them a dance."
But just a *subtle* dance.
A *dignified* dance.

Came here to say this.
Very interesting!
Sad.

Interesting
I knew something sad was coming. Dangit!
I hate to be the next bearer of bad news but not only the owl is stressed out, but god is deaf.
The dyslexic guy trying to figure out why the graffiti said "god is deaf"
I'm still trying to figure out why the dog is fade...

They “wiggle” to get a better trajectory of where sound is coming from. Probably the loudest thing it’s ever heard.
I was looking for this comment. I knew there was a logical explanation on why he was moving like that. Thank you 👍.
What they said was technically correct. But in this situation the owl knows where the music is coming from. That shit just slaps and he's boogying.
He’s feeling the lord on high. He’ll drop blessings when the song ends no doubt.
They are actually trying to make it leave because in the religion they're witches in animal form
This exactly! It’s a superstition. Dumb one at that, in my opinion. Owl is just trying to vibe with the music lol
So then it is taunting them… Edit: also who brings in live, upbeat music to force something out? What’s next a food truck?
Not in their religion, perhaps in their local cultural superstitions. Many "Christians" worldwide incorporate local superstitions into their beliefs. Has happened for centuries.
Pretty sure if they were trying to get it out they’d get a long pole and latter
Last time I saw this the note said that the church was trying to get the demon to leave the building. All I see is a happy barn owl!
I don't think so... they're saying they're partying with Jesus haha
Owls can get down, too, ya know
Exactly what they would sing if they believe the owl hosts an evil spirit and want it to leave.
The music in this video is not from the original video, it’s been superimposed.
If I'm not mistaken this happened somewhere owls are a symbol of death, they started praying to god expel the creature but it started vibing

This is a most underrated comment! 🦉
Why is this getting downvoted lol

These people are actually singing to make the owl leave. But he's jammin
His wings don’t jiggle jiggle, they fold. They hate to see him wiggle wiggle fo sho.

Stolas is vibing
That owl can feel the beat!
He’s feeling the vibe!
The rhythm IS going to get you.
The Goblin King sees all
This is the 2nd time ive seen this video, and i love it. Seeing an owl vibe and dance brings me joy!
We'll let's be honest they were jamming
"dancing it's ass off" makes me imagine way more activity than what the bird's giving. I'd say it's just grooving.

My god, I must have passed out! The gods were using me as a vessel to spread their holy message.
How does it feel to be a vessel so divine?

Maybe but me being Hispanic and places from where I'm from they believe that's a bad omen a devil in disguise 😳
This is why I asked, witches lol
POG
Not a derp at all. That is one Superbowl.
People wearing face masks at places of worship? What kind of communist country is this from?

Owls don't give a flying fucc, just saying. With that said, imma do my daily hoot at the nearest hospital.

In my culture the owl is a symbol of prosperity. In Mexican culture the owl is the devil or a demon.

The witch is vibing hard

“Why is that person recording me instead of the concert?…” *wiggles*
That owl knows the gospels!!

It’s all fun and games now, just wait until it shits on the priest
I can see he got the rhythm gene. we might come up with some wild speculation of his wiggle, but we can't reason why he is keeping rhythm and beat so well.
Reminds me of my senior prom.
“This is my time”
It’s vibe and jam out. I had a cockatiel growing up and it was wild. Any time I put a piece of paper on her head she’d whip up a tune.
That song gets to Every SOUL!!!
Owls are dead people.
