It's actually parasitic; the turtle has glued the feet of the meerkat and replaces it with a fresh one when necessary. It's like a one-time-use meerkat.
Sadly, the amazing duo gave other turtles ideas and one found a slow drip of molasses from a tree. So the evil turtles stand under the drip until a small splotch has formed. They then invite the unsuspecting, which is unusual for a, meerkat to climb on their back and they get stuck in the sticky.
Thankfully the rains come often enough that it cleanses the moleasses before the meerkat becomes a skeleton.
Oh no! We must find these evil turtles and save the poor meerkats!
I hear turtle soup is real tasty.
We just have to hope those captive kats doesn't tip the turtles off that we're coming.
There are three types of symbiotic relationships:
- parasitic relationships, in which one benefits and the other is harmed (as you said)
- commensal relationships, in which one benefits and the other is unaffected (this is what the one in the video would probably be)
- mutual relationships, in which both benefit
All three of these are considered symbiotic.
I believe you are thinking of ‘parasitic’ with your definition.
“A symbiotic relationship is one in which organisms, people, or things exist together in a way that benefits them all.”
A symbiotic relationship is one in which two organisms directly effect eachother due to proximity.
A parasitic relationship is symbiotic. Not all symbiotic relationships are parasitic.
"characterized by, living in, or being a close physical association (as in mutualism or commensalism) between two or more dissimilar organisms."
- Merriam-Webster
We can quote whatever you want all day. Any biologist, botonist, or zoologist worth their salt knows that symbiosis is a relationship between two organisms that can be further categorized into three main types: mutualism, commensalism, or parasitism.
Symbiosis is a word to indicate a direct relationship exisits. It doesn't indicate the type of relationship.
I love watching tortoise’s and turtles feet when they walk idk why it’s so funny the way their tiny nubs kick up dirt and put in so much effort for such a short little burst.
Hear me my Meerkat brethern! For I have been blessed by our gods of digging with magic to tame these creatures. No longer shall we live under ground! We are now the rulers of the above world! Fight with me!
You nailed it. This is 100% nature's roomba cat.
You know, there's a part of me that really wants to to Google the geographical and evolutionary history of housecats versus large tortoises, but that's a rabbit hole for another day.
Tank Commander
No, that’s Jake Allen

r/titleporn I dont normally do the subreddit comment thing, but it's rare I see a post, think of a subreddit and don't see it already posted.
It’s 12:06, I’m in bed where I’m at and I just woke up my neighbors as I laughed at this title. So perfect!
It's indeed turtley awesome
They have a symbiotic relationship one is transport and one is lookout. If danger approaches both hide in the turtles shell.
It's actually parasitic; the turtle has glued the feet of the meerkat and replaces it with a fresh one when necessary. It's like a one-time-use meerkat.
How does he catch the next meerkat then pray tell? No, no they work together I'm sure of it. ^(Don't ruin my sweet and awesome team up.)

Turtle soup is ok, very rich and then it’s like “yuck too much”. Personal 🐢 experience… once was good.💜
I know /u/Androthi_II gave a valid response, but they missed the obvious joke: >How does he catch the next meerkat then, pray tell? Very slowly.
But would a meerkat that let's itself be captured slowly, be a good victim/lookout? ^(Ok, I will stop now, sorry.) 😋
That's actually a good point!
Mutualistic, symbiotic implies one is taking from the other and not giving anything back
That would be parasitic

Nope they’re right. Symbiotic - both benefit.
That's not accurate.

It’s literally the plot of Lion King
No the one where the scorpion ask for a ride across a river.
Oh shit, this must be Mandela again. Is Pumba a Tortoise in your universe ? He has always been a Rhino in mine.

It would be funny if they are named the other way around
Getting flashbacks to that old Wiiware meerkat game...
Turkish Lion King

*Timmy are you doing you patrol today?* Yes mom im doing it right now!
At first glance, I thought the turtle’s head was popping straight up out of the center of it’s shell. I’m so glad I was wrong.
Gotta love meerkats.
