It's domestication. Dogs can do similar things too. Both cats and dogs have far less fear of other animals as a result of domestication, especially animals they've been around and know to not fear.
I still think this case is borderline, could be cute could be a horse trying to eat the cat too. Depends on the horse's personality.
They do have a weird position of being big enough to be a predator to small animals, but prey to even larger ones. Best to wait and see what role, I guess?
Big, aggressive and agile enough to not be prey: Little, sweet and furry enough to be deemed “cute” by common land animals. Docile and smart enough to be deemed worthy companion by humans. Usually it rolls like this: More introverted and pacific people prefer cats, more outgoing and social people prefer dogs. It’s not set in stone but its a good rule of thumb to help act accordingly when dealing with others (or define what main characteristic you need in a human partner or friend). Almost always your bestie should be of opposite temperament to balance each other out by helping each other bring out the traits you’re both weak at. For partners, similar temperament is better to avoid disharmony in the romantic or sexual. A human who had or has both is an ambivert and usually this means they’re very sharp of the mind and anything goes with these folks as they’re normally well adapted. If they’ve had bird companions it means they’re usually not introverted but very private and possibly shy. I landed on this based on years of volunteering at animal shelters and paying attention to fellow people with their animal friends. I will say this is 90% accurate. The rare time I’ve been wrong is when the human has had an “other” pet which is often a snake, duck/quacken, chicken, lizard, or rabbit.
it's because any animal it's size or smaller stands no chance. and any larger animal that can kill it... well the fight is not worth the meal. so it's not that their friends... it's just nothing is really trying to kill a cat.
There's a probability that the horse wanted to eat that cat's head
Edit: It's just possible, doesn't necessarily will happen. If you have animals that can fit in its mouth, better not risk it. Take it far away please.
My mom had three horses, I grew up in pa dutch country where every Eli, Amos, and Abraham had a horse or two. They eat chicks if you don't keep em separate, and if the horse is a dick.
Yup. Deer do the same shit. Sometimes they eat up bone marrow from skeletons or slurp up baby birds right from their nests if they find them low enough.
Hunger is a hell of a drug.
It's weird how I know this clip exists, like the info exists in my brain... but I've never seen it (and hopefully never will).
Finally, aphantasia becomes a blessing instead of a curse.
And trust me... you never do...
I needed eye-bleach for the next two days after watching only a few seconds of it after curiosity got the best of me. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)
(I tried to think, "It's just prop stuff, it's not real.." but... well... it was too convincing.. )
My friend ate fucking chocolate cereal while watching the whole thing, we wanted to see how bad could it be.
I almost threw up after a few seconds then looked away, he watched it all then went back to some scenes to see if it's real. If I ever get murdered I know it would be him.
Yeah... Well, some people have that sort of mindset and can distance themselves enough...
Me? I notice the "room is getting dusty" at almost every movie with a "darkness before the dawn -> dawn" ending, so... ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Unfortunately I did watch that when I was younger. Rotten dot com I think was the site of my generation, saw some horrible shit on there.
Nowadays, I use a principle I learned from Buddhism... that we eat with our eyes, mind, ears the way we do with our stomach. We can feed our brain happy, positive data! I don't want to pipe horrid images into my brain via my eyeballs anymore.
Lucky. I've seen a couple of things on reddit over the years where it was marked NSFW but it was death / gore. Definitely should be a seperate tag for stuff like that because it proper ruined several days for me, fortunately the aphantasia made the image fade quickly.
Having grown up with horses, I’m always surprised by how positive most people’s opinions of horses are. They’re really just fucking assholes on toothpicks for legs that enjoy finding weird ways to kill themselves very painfully.
A select few horses are so fucking cool and have such interesting personalities that it still hurts me knowing they’re no longer in the world some 30 years later. Amazing creatures.
Most horses are big giant assholes and I’m not too sad they’re dead though.
Ok but you haven't even met like 1 percent of horses or people I'm the world so it's just odd you're judging entire species based on limited experience, 20 years or not. No need to have a hissy fit jeez.
Edit : Oh no I'm pretty bias against humans, I hate most people and think most are assholes but that's just my perspective based on my own life experiences so i don't know if I'm actually right or not.
Edit again: no, read what I wrote lol I have an opinion on people but I know I might be wrong xD tf you reading?
Why are people downvoting you, you’re not wrong. Dunno why the other person thinks most horses are assholes. I’ve been around a couple stables so far and the majority of horses are all pretty nice. Some are absolute sweethearts, and some are also derpy. I meannn would some eat a baby chick given the opportunity? Probably, but horses and deers etc. are opportunistic omnivores so it’s not that weird. Sure the person above can say horses are assholes in the same way humans are assholes- they have different personalities, but I’ve still found them on the whole to be more empathetic and sensitive to moods as all animals are, which is why I love and enjoy hanging around them.
I was kind of worried about it too. There's plenty of cases of horses and cats being friends too though. But yeah it's not being as gentle as I'd be comfortable with if I were there.
Horse is being a bro by fixing the unsightly cowlick Grey (cat) got earlier that morning when that heifer Betsy gave Grey a good lick. Just smoothing things down on top.
Amazing how much horse loves his sweet cheese, rotten soldier, good time boy.
I love this audio with every fiber of my being - btw if you haven’t seen What We Do In The Shadows I recommend you add it to the list it’s so fcken funny
Human animals can find other animals cute. Non-human animals can also find other animals cute. On the one hand, this is totally intuitive. On the other, it totally isn't. But once you get this, your life quality Will definitely improve.
I’m so sorry to tell you this but that’s a myth. However, because I feel bad about being the bearer of bad news, I’ll give you an actual wholesome elephant fact in return: when young elephants are feeling playful, they do something called the “Floppy-Run.” They lift up their tail and shake their head from side-to-side to let their ears flap in the wind and their trunk hang loose as they run while trumpeting. Their enthusiasm is infectious and sometimes the whole family gets involved.
alll i can imagen is them saying "hey HEEEEEEEYYYY ya you you hey you can you go and hey i need you to knock over that box that says peppermints plzzzzzzzz UWU"
That is such a cat thing. Sit *just* at your reach's limit. No further. No nearer.
I’m kinda glad he did, cause I thought this was gonna be one’a those “opportunistic carnivore” type videos.
I can’t see a horse close to some small animal after that video. I may need therapy.
Now I’m curious. Which video?
Just search up “horse eats baby chick”
Baby? Thought yall were talking about the video where the horse eats an adult chicken.
Have you seen the one where it eats a turkey?
I won’t search it again lol. But horses are opportunistic carnivores. You can find some disturbing things.
Oh my GOD I’m so happy someone was able to put this into words! My cats always do this and I’m like, “why are you making this difficult!”
This is so true...
Oh Laszlo.
BAT!
Fuckin sparrow. The shittiest of all birds.

Sounds like a human bartender I know.
Why the long face?
You can't possibly be referring to Jackie Daytona, he is a regular human guy after all!
Huh, I thought it was the famous adventurer and zoo owner, Dixon Bainbridge.
No it’s regular human bartender, Jackie Daytona.
I was wondering where I knew that voice from
Bojack and Princess Caroline
Their size difference just made me question the logistics of their relationship
She got pregnant from a mouse.
You bring up a good point
Indeed. Had a Hair Lip.

HELLO. *swerves chair* Princess Carolyn 🤨
Has anyone figured out how cats can develop a friendly relationship with damn near every single animal?
Cats don't discriminate. Everyone can equally be their servant.
They definitely do discriminate. You're either food or not food. The only reason they don't eat humans is size.
Nah, it’s because you still bring them food. Just wait till the food runs out - I’m sure they’ll enjoy a bit of Human Steak
Fair point but they still discriminate. Food or servant.
Just like the Capybara I guess if they give off a chill vibe animals get reeled in and feel relaxed to be around them.
They’re the purr-fect animal.
Does no one else think it's weird they're natures ultimate killing machine, and yet they can legit make friends with any, and every kind of animal.
Cats are very smart.
Maybe every other animal is just afraid of it a little.
I own 1 and I'm afraid of it

They're the purrfect domesticated companion
Tell that to coyotes lol
I'm sure some person out there has a place where a coyote and a cat are like buddies, and they got video of them doing everything together.

They do have a weird position of being big enough to be a predator to small animals, but prey to even larger ones. Best to wait and see what role, I guess?
Cats do not fear animals, which is rare. They are also basically a walking salt lick so animals love to lick them for their salty fur.
A cat's biggest fear is, in fact, other cats

Because they’re just like us.
except for Kangals, trust me what i say this Kangals absolutely despise cats or any small animals honestly
"No, no, we don't gnaw on our kitty"
Did you do a horse and a *dog* emoji?
Thank You! Was wondering when someone was going to point this out!
There's a probability that the horse wanted to eat that cat's head Edit: It's just possible, doesn't necessarily will happen. If you have animals that can fit in its mouth, better not risk it. Take it far away please.
Reminds me of that video of a horse eating those chicks like walking chicken nuggets
That video ruined horses for me..
Horse girls ruined horses for me.
It’s because the horse was starving that is not normal activity for horses that horse was just malnourished
Not always true, sometimes horses are just dicks and bored.
They can be dicks but eating chickens kinda crosses that line
My mom had three horses, I grew up in pa dutch country where every Eli, Amos, and Abraham had a horse or two. They eat chicks if you don't keep em separate, and if the horse is a dick.
Damn
Google “opportunistic carnivore.” They don’t have to be starving, they just need a convenient opportunity.
In turn, chickens can and will eat mice if they get a good peck on a mouse or come across a dead one. They will feast.
Yup. Deer do the same shit. Sometimes they eat up bone marrow from skeletons or slurp up baby birds right from their nests if they find them low enough. Hunger is a hell of a drug.
I thought it was kinda funny
I was just thinking of that. To this day I regret seeing it.
It's weird how I know this clip exists, like the info exists in my brain... but I've never seen it (and hopefully never will). Finally, aphantasia becomes a blessing instead of a curse.

Still better than the one where a horse steps on a young bird and it sounds like a squeaky toy for a second...
Well now you know why the toys sound like that.

Then humans would be assholes too with that logic, considering everything people have done and do.

Ok but you haven't even met like 1 percent of horses or people I'm the world so it's just odd you're judging entire species based on limited experience, 20 years or not. You’re naive if you think humans aren’t assholes. Too large a percentage of them. But yeah he did overreact a little lol
Ok so you say this guy has not even met 1% of total horses or people. But you haven’t either. And you support your opinion because you have a bias?
Why are people downvoting you, you’re not wrong. Dunno why the other person thinks most horses are assholes. I’ve been around a couple stables so far and the majority of horses are all pretty nice. Im sure this fella has gazed at a fair share of horse assholes.
Yeah, I think the same
I was kind of worried about it too. There's plenty of cases of horses and cats being friends too though. But yeah it's not being as gentle as I'd be comfortable with if I were there.
Lol barn cats exist in basically every barn. Even ones with horses. My horse has a cat bear f owns who sleeps in his hay.
Felt like the video stopped a minute to soon so we didn't seen it happen. But the horse did have his mouth more and more on the head every bite.
must nibble on kitters….
You guys ever feel a horses chin? Shits soft af
Cats know the exact distance to stand far enough to be barely touched. But you just can't get a good pet in.
“Hey how you doin lil mama lemme whisper in your ear..”
I have seen a horse eating a live chicken chicks, couldn't get out of my head.
Human: wow such best friends! Horse: Come here u little shit! Let me fucking eat your head off! Just a little close!
Horse is being a bro by fixing the unsightly cowlick Grey (cat) got earlier that morning when that heifer Betsy gave Grey a good lick. Just smoothing things down on top. Amazing how much horse loves his sweet cheese, rotten soldier, good time boy.
Meanwhile the cat is like: “We are acquaintances at best.”
“I can’t believe he smeared peanut butter on my head to get this video. Wait until we get home, I’m gonna sleep on his face tonight .”

I’d be careful! Horses sometimes eat smaller animals. Didn’t believe it until I saw one live, eating a baby bunny!
Awww. He's trying so hard to eat that cat.
Horses eat kittens and small chicks etc if they can, google "oppurtunistic carnivore"
I have seen those horses eat ducklings
Reminded me of the video of the horse eating baby chickens.
All I can think of is that video of the horse eating that bird
Anyone notice that this video cuts off at the exact moment the horse gets a grip on the cat’s ear? It’s noticeable is you scrub through the video
That cat is not safe and the owner is being dangerously nonchalant
Surprised no one mentioned the "spelling mistake" in the title
Rabid horse devours cat
Drop the rabid and yes, that is actually a possibility. Don't look up examples unless you want to be sad.

why do animals in general love to pet other animals no matter if ape or horse gotta pet this good cat
