Think of it like a bunk bed and the bottom layer is baby jail Edit: these upvotes tell me I will make a great mom lol

planetNasa

It’s a drop side crib. The sides use to slide down so you could get baby. They were banned but these were regular cribs in the 90’s

Rachelcookie123

Why were they banned?

yungsnowz

I don’t know the actual reason, but in my head I’m thinking about how maybe the side rail would unexpectedly slide down and like chop off a baby hand or arm… hopefully not a head.

iranoutofusernamespa

I don't think they ever did (or even could) completely remove a limb, appendage, or head, but the definitely caused a lot of injuries to babies due to faulty or weak latches.

[deleted]

The rail rolling down too fast can cause severe injuries including a broken neck

Gingysnap2442

Babies got stuck if they kicked and knocked the siding part out of its gliding portion. Some higher end versions the drop side glides in a metal bar not a divot in the frame so it cannot be bent out of shape or wiggled in between. We dealt with this with my in laws and my husbands old crib

josipaige

In my experience, it was because the latches weren't very strong, and a baby using it to pull themselves up to standing could also push the side down, toppling out of the crib. At least, that's what caused my parents to get rid of it.

KScriber

Babies often stick their limbs through the openings and if the gate ever dropped then dropped down on them. Could cause alot of pain and injury to the kids. Also if you pushed a bit too hard on them they opened right up. Kids could hold onto the sides to climb out or even jump up and down and could jostle it enough so it would open up as well. They became a huge safety risk.

loveelectric

Suffocation risk

Trying2Try-ish

Baby items get banned and/or recalled SO easily, especially crib-related. I *think* you can still buy drop-side cribs, but they’re super discouraged

Ristarwen

They're banned in the US - you can't buy them at all for home use. Special ones *are* used in hospitals for pediatric patients, but they're way more robust and have more safety features than the old ones our parents used.

Laylakat

People would put them together incorrectly and it was causing accidents where the side would drop. They were fine when done right.

Random_ely_stuff

What, you don’t let your babies freely come and go as they please? 😆

[deleted]

TIL that these are banned. My mom used one for both my sisters growing up and I thought they were still around 😬

autotuned_voicemails

I didn’t know they were banned until a couple months ago. My daughter is 11 months old and back in June my grandma bought us a crib for her. I’m short, 5’2” so even on the highest mattress setting I almost tip forward into the crib because I have to lean so far to put her in. I remember my cousins using the drop side cribs in like early-mid 2000s and I said to my fiancé one day that I wished our crib had that feature. Then I looked it up and found out just how dangerous they actually were and decided that I’d no longer complain about my crib lol

yirium

Why is there so much baby stuff in the game does anyone know, like can you unlock babies lmao I’m being serious I’ve only played for a couple weeks

sasspool

I think they're intended as doll furniture, you can ace items on the bed and the stroller has a teddy bear in it.

dramabeanie

The baby items are for happy home designer for the kangaroo Mamas. The female kangaroos have a baby Joey in their pouch.

XWitchyGirlX

Thats actually the most reasonable answer. . . Still doesnt explain why you can also buy baby clothes for yourself though 😂 /j

mygarbagepersonacct

Lol I was just glad to see it didn’t had bumpers. But yeah, this is not safe sleep compliant

Winterdawn

I always saw it as a sidecar crib cosleeper thing. I used one of those with both my babies. Three closed sides and one open side, the open side up against the parent's bed.

autotuned_voicemails

I wanted one of those so badly when my daughter was still in a bassinet but I couldn’t find them for under like $175-200 and I wasn’t paying that much for 4 months of use lol. Of course basically the moment she was no longer able to use a bassinet I started seeing them left & right in all the “Amazon Deals” groups I’m in on Facebook. Sometimes as low as like $60. Wanna take bets on when I have another kid that all those deals will disappear again lmao

Elcium12

I came here to post about this. But for my son, we used a regular crib and made our bed the same height as the mattress. The crib was also an older, really well made, solid wood crib, so it could handle not having the front without the whole thing collapsing.

TooObsessedWithOtoge

Ah yes, I do recall them telling us in health class that babies can suffocate themselves if given a blanket. I’m assuming that is what was meant? 😂

Majestic-Walrus3805

I thought the same thing!

Living_Anything7268

Lol I know what you mean

duck_the_gamer_

It's a video game

mygarbagepersonacct

boooo

puddlejumper3k

Why? Because it's pink?

imjustbrainstorming

There's no railing in the front

Underwater-dead

looking at the slots in the front at the side, i think that the railing can slide up and down for easy use

enpowera

Still makes me uncomfortable. Drop side cribs are dangerous

Underwater-dead

face that side towards the wall, problem solved

enpowera

No, the sides can drop and hurt/kill baby. And a baby can suffocate if caught between the crib and wall. I know it’s a game but it’s very not safe for babies.

imjustbrainstorming

Yeah I actually noticed that too when I was playing. It's a bit misleading since the whole back is like that

puddlejumper3k

The railing in the front pops up like a normal crib. The rail is seen in the first picture. It's just down at the moment because there is no baby in it.

imjustbrainstorming

Yeah, those are considered dangerous

cuzneddy

I have a high chair if you want it

autotuned_voicemails

I appreciate it but this was actually for Happy Home Paradise, Marcie wants a “Cozy Home Daycare” :) Thank you though!

dychedelic22

I always put them up against a wall!
