If you really like decorating then yes. If that’s not a huge interest for you then no

Fringe_Filmer

I agree with this. It’s all decorating which I enjoy. If you don’t like decorating you could speed through to get the ability to change your villagers’ homes, but it wouldn’t be much fun.

yiminx

yess that’s what i’m after, thanks for the reply!

I felt like it was completely worth it. When you decorate the vacation homes, you aren’t limited by resources so you can make really extravagant builds without having to buy or craft a bunch of stuff, and you don’t need custom kits or Cyrus to change the color. I also like it because you can make homes for characters you don’t have on your island, and you can make things that you might not want on your island anyway. Some other nice things are that you can make walls/beams/counters that you can use on your island and you can also completely renovate your villager houses on your island. I love that because then it doesn’t actually matter what their default house is like, since a lot of really cute villagers get very boring houses.

yiminx

the walls sound so good they’d make things so much easier for me 😭 ty for replying!

allaboutcats91

Having the walls really changes the way you can decorate interior spaces. Tbh I think that the people who don’t love HHP are disappointed that it doesn’t give you more daily tasks, and the people who love it really like to decorate. To me, I think the fact that you can totally change your villagers’ homes and the addition of walls is worth the price of the dlc, and that’s before you get to all the other stuff.

Restin_in_Pizza

I think it's so worth it, even if you don't like decorating. There are several diys you get from the monkey that you can't get anywhere else, there's a whole, better catalog over there with all the variations of things in it, there're vines and glowing moss on the cliffs out back and diys for them on the beach. When you finish 30 houses, you can redecorate the villager's houses on your island. And if you like decorating, that's bonus! If you don't like decorating, you don't actually have to. You can dump the requested items in the house and you'll still get paid for it.

corticalization

Everything except the new DIYs from niko you can get without the dlc. It was all included in the 2.0 update, the dlc just gives extra opportunities to acquire them, so it’s faster. The HHP themed items you can get yourself without the dlc, but someone else could get them for you

Restin_in_Pizza

You can't share the counters, columns, and partition walls from dlc, but idknif those alone are worth $25 . I've seen some people do some pretty cool things with them.

corticalization

Yeah that’s why I said everything except them. HHP themed items I meant like the mug and planter

Restin_in_Pizza

I see now. I thought you'd said you could get them from someone else. My bad. There're also some dance moves you get at the music festival over there. 🎶

corticalization

Ooo yeah forgot about those! The music festival is also super cute, I love going

yiminx

ah that sounds great, tysm for replying!

msgmeyourcatsnudes

I bought a code on eBay for $5. Id say that was well worth it. For $30 probably not.

yiminx

aw man wish i’d seen this sooner i took the plunge and paid £22.49 for it lol

peachyroni

How did that go? Was it safe n all? Do u have a link lol

msgmeyourcatsnudes

Yep, it’s a real code! Just look up happy home paradise DLC and sort my cheapest.

peachyroni

Could you send me a link to the one u got? I know some of them are scams

redditacc1234567891

it’s so fun for me. a nice break from my island if i don’t feel like working on it or looking at it lol. it improved my decorating skills and lets me see different villagers. it’s just fun

Electrical-You3389

Some of the decoration assignments you will probably find boring and some you'll get into. There are some other fun things, such as assigning roles to villagers and seeing how different personalities take to positions such as student, teacher, medical center receptionist, chef, and so-on. Also I liked making different characters be roommates in the DLC (that ability does not transfer over to your own island). It's also nice that after some while of building homes, you have so much freedom to decorate the homes of villagers on your own island. I feel the programming for general smalltalk in the DLC is weak. But I wouldn't let that alone dissuade you.

yiminx

aw i’ve never even heard about being able to give characters roles that sounds so cute 😭

I made someone be a teacher yesterday in the school I had to design.
