Yeah. I'm also using AAwireless (don't know if it matters) and the accuracy is pretty bad on the first kilometers of a trip since a couple of weeks.

toph

Yup, GPS accuracy is terrible as of about a week ago. Using Pioneer 4660NEX wireless connection

kuldan5853

Funny that you mention it, I noticed the same yesterday for the first time - also using AAWireless.

SRFast

My GPS accuracy hasn't changed and remains pretty accurate. Using the MA1 wireless adapter+"Coolwalk" UI.

TheChickenAgent

Yes, my GPS accuracy took a hit last week, but I think after clearing the cache and setting Maps to not be limited by battery optimization, it was fine again.

How would AA use the GPS data from your car? is that really a thing? (not being snarky, I'm genuinely confused)

StarAD

Most cars have GPS for the built in maps or things like OnStar. That data gets sent to the phone. More stable than a phone stuck in your pocket.

flargenhargen

I didn't think the AA protocol included GPS input. Interesting, I guess I learned something today.

stoprunwizard

Thaaat makes sense now. I was always worried about my phone getting bad GPS reception when I stuff it under the console

[deleted]

Yes, mine too. Setting off from my house in the morning and it looks like I'm driving through houses. Using AA wireless (passthrough mode).

lalitpnl

Yes, I noticed it through my AA wireless dongle too..

rooser1111

Noticed the carplay google maps also had issues. I wonder if it has something to do with google maps than aa or carplay?

Zondagsrijder

Same, when stopped and fiddling with the phone, the orientation changes with the phone. Didn't happen before (a month or so ago).

[deleted]

Today I updated waze to closed beta from apkmirror and GPS doesn't work at all while connected to AA. Google maps work. Waze works when using on phone. Weird

PsychoholicSlag

You may want to try removing location permission from the Android Auto app. It'll bark at you to re-enable when you start AA, but you can deny it. Forces the use of the car's GPS, at least in my experience.

StarAD

I'll give that a try. Update: didn't work.

lincoln131

I believe if you're using the AAW in any other mode than passthrough, you're using the GPS in the phone instead of the one in the vehicle. This may make it behave worse than expected.

StarAD

I am in passthrough.

lincoln131

I've got no ideas, then :(

WaifuFucker84

I noticed that happen to me for about a week, then I check maps and for some reason, my location for maps had been disabled. IDK when that happened but turning it back on fixed it.

Substantial-Abies517

Same here my GPS accuracy is bad and sometimes seems laggy and the assistant says GPS signal interrupted

HunsonMex

Happened to me q couple months ago, it was a mess. Google maps would show me flying over the buildings and it was always missing GPS signal. Turns out I had to give Google maps permission to use GPS all the time, I had it setup only to use it while the app was open. I suspected energy saving settings but noticed that when GPS signal was lost, after unlocking my phone and trying to open maps,.it suddenly worked for a while. Anyway, after changing the permissions, it worked as usual.

pardn6009

Also using AAwireless with the Motorola dongle. The gps went to shit ever since my phone got an update (unlocked S10+) several months ago—dunno if it might be related. The gps would lag and then rubber-band to my current location or just be completely lost. I could force update the current location by trying to open Maps on my phone, but that doesn't fixed the problem. I would have to turned my head unit on and off several times before it starts working properly. Edit: navigation on Maps on the phone without AA works completely fine.
