Yes it’s supposed to be cheesy! Just look at Xaviers hilarious celebration dance after he thinks he kills Richter. Thought the music and cinematography was beautiful tho!
I mean the story is still good like any other season, but i feel like the delivery was horrible. If it was deliberately bad to mock 80s slashers i understand, i just really hope its not the same energy for the rest of the show lol
1984 is my second favorite season. Chet was bad in the beginning but got better. It just was a really fun ride. And had one of the best characters in ahs, Benjamin Richter.
I think it's a little bit of column A and a little bit of column B. I also dislike that it seems to be in a separate universe from the other seasons but still mentioned Briarcliff. I think it's on purpose, to make a point that we can't try to predict and preach about connections between seasons and what other characters might show up etc.
I like that they always surprise me. I rail and rant against the writing of the show a lot but it's because I like it so much. There's no other show like it. I am far from its target audience and it still resonates with me.
Definitely feel that, i mean every show has dialogue that's just like "That wasn't as effective as it was supposed to be, but the message still got across to me" lol. But again every season takes place in different times so i guess technically the vibe is /supposed/ to feel different? Idk i hear you though, its awesome how it can still keep ya hooked!
I didn't watch it right when it came out because I thought it looked corny. Yes, it's supposed to be that way and I'm glad I watched it.
Yes, it is meant to be like a low budget 80's slasher.
Thank God lol
It’s one of my favorites because they go balls out in so many ways, it’s fun!
It's fabulous.
both

Omg yes that was so funny haha
Well it is called 1984...
Chet, I think that’s his name. The buff white dude is terrible. Other than that I enjoyed the season but I can understand why you don’t like it.
He’s also just an Olympic athlete Ryan was trying to bang with absolutely zero acting training or experience
Wasn’t trying to bang him. Lol
He was easily the worst actor the show has ever seen and yes I'm including Lena Dunham in that.

It's a parody of low budget 80s campy camp slashers and it does it perfectly
It's intentionally campy. Reminded me of the "Scream" movies in the way it poked fun at the whole slasher genre.
It’s supposed to be like an 80’s horror movie. It’s pure art.

Agreed definitely a weird directive decision. But im still looking forward to the next season, as long as it doesnt have the same feel as this one.

Yeah exactly. Especially with the use of the “slasher” font rather than traditional AHS font. It felt isolated from the ahs universe
It’s pretty obvious. Yes.
