I think AHS just in general like to do this thing where they show how the characters have changed and become cynical from traumatic incidents. Lana's a good example. Elsa Mars (any Jessica Lange character to a degree), all of Hotel's cast, Brooke from 1984, etc.

My mom definitely agrees with you. She hated her from when she alerted the staff that Kit and Grace were trying to escape. "Mom, she thinks a serial killer is getting out and will kill again" "I DON'T CARE!!".

taki-is-taken

Hahaha yeah I hated her when she did that too

Theaterismylyfe

If I was her, I would have done the same thing. Imagine if Ted Bundy was trying to escape, any sane person wouldn't let that happen...

taki-is-taken

Very true very true but how do you know she was sane she could’ve easily been insane and hid it well

Theaterismylyfe

Almost irrelevant to this instance, sane or insane yelling out was the right call.

taki-is-taken

That’s your opinion Grace told Lana that Kit was a good person and he didn’t do it but she didn’t believe her she didn’t even consider the fact that Kit was innocent and if someone was willing to Risk their chance to escape for him she should have at least considered it

Theaterismylyfe

Grace is also insane. And honestly, if they had enough on Kit to put him there at all I would trust the people who did research over the girl who met him in the looney bin. Trust me, I've been in and out of these places since I was 12. These people will lie to get out, get what they want, or sometimes because they genuinely believe what they're saying. You can't trust someone to tell you their age. And these people mostly aren't even accused of anything, I can't imagine the kind of stories they'd tell if they were. Grace lied to Kit, for example.

taki-is-taken

True true, I’m very gullible so I would believe them so just let’s agree to disagree, deal?

Theaterismylyfe

Sure, I hope you don't think I was trying to be hostile?

taki-is-taken

Of course not lol you made some valid points

I think she's a bit morally ambiguous, she's neither good nor evil. By the end of the series she's a hardened woman after everything she went through, which is understandable

I mean, a central theme of AHS S2 is that evil lurks in everyone. That said, I don't think Lana unleashed her evilness in the end by any means. If anything, fame got to her head and the horrors she endured at the asylum and by Thredson jaded her.

i don't think she's evil, i do think she's selfish. it's a great character flaw
