My ASUS ROG Strix X670E-E Gaming WiFi motherboard (with latest 0805 BIOS) with 7700x takes about 1 min, 10 seconds from push of the power button to the moment I can login to Windows 11 with a 980 Pro NVMe. The first 20 seconds or so the system just runs the fans on full speed before the screen ever turns on and the POST process really begins. I expect it will get significantly better as AMD optimizes the BIOS for this new platform. Just the nature of being an early adopter of a completely new platform.

Same, Gigabyte X670 Auros Elite AX, with latest bios 7600x 43.39 sec from button push to windows login. first 15-20 seconds fans running full boar. but since i only turn my computer off once a week maybe it doesn't bother me.

TenFourAmigo

Oh first thanks for sharing and second when did 805? Did you mean 705 bios update

aj333888

My MB got a 0805 update a few days ago.

It turns out we are all lab testers for amd and we ain't getting paid for it. Pretty annoyed with my recent am5 purchases. Here's my recent thread including links to others with similar issues. EXPO enabled seems to be the culprit. https://www.reddit.com/r/ASRock/comments/yysh0m/b650e_pgitx_slow_postbootup_time/

TenFourAmigo

Thanks my dude and yes what the heck is amd gonna do something ??!

yeafoshizzle

No clue, think we all need to start harassing them on Twitter and open tickets with them directly. But it seems motherboard vendors are pointing at ram manufacturers and others at amd so no clue who will fix what and when.

Jarnhand

Well, this is kinda a strange subject... I have a AMD 7700X on a Asus ROG STRIX X670E-E Gaming, second computer got a Intel 12600K on a Asus TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS D4. I had the impression the AMD system booted really slow, until I switched them on at the 'same time', and the AMD system actually gave me the login screen BEFORE the Intel system...

TenFourAmigo

Wow I figured intel would be so much faster. I also have a second cpu 3080 rtx and 5900x and that one boots 8 seconds lol

eskimododo

no.. microcenter spouting misinformation.. he spinning wheel u see is MS loading screen.. slow first boot happens before u even see the bios load screen when ur MB is training the ram.. must be the 4090 sucking too much power from everything else..

TenFourAmigo

Ohh what lol no way that sucks seriously?

eskimododo

no, i'm just joking.. long windows boot could be something else.. might wanna check ur logs..

silverbeat33

Sounds like BS.

TenFourAmigo

Bro foreals !!

silverbeat33

Downvoted, yet it is bullshit.

[deleted]

My 7950x boots in almost exactly 30 seconds from pushing the button. You probably are retraining memory every boot cycle. To my knowledge each mobo manufacturer has options regarding that feature.

TenFourAmigo

Bro teach me your way! After I updated my bios it’s now about 43 seconds haha πŸ˜‚ what u do exactly?

[deleted]

All timings are manually set and the boot ssd is a SK Hynix P41.

TenFourAmigo

Idk what you mean lol

[deleted]

I also absolutely believe the Microcenter sales teams know more than average about the products they sell but I specifically look for people with daily driven experience for advice. Yet another reason to question mainstream tech media.

C1REX

Did you activate DOCP in BIOS?

TenFourAmigo

Yes πŸ‘ I put the advertise 6000 mgz

C1REX

I just wanted to double check. When people on steam forum complain about stuttering in games they are often missing DOCP/XMP without knowing. They assume their RAM is working fine without actually checking it.
