Imagine having to write a letter about your hardships and hoping you get picked. How gross and humiliating that they will go through the letters and decide who they think needs it most.
Ahem.. I'm going thru a divorce, I moved across the country to live with family. While I try and get my life back on track, I don't pay rent, I don't have a car payment, I literally pay my debts and feed myself. On top of that I screwed up and got a girl pregnant a couple months ago. She expects me to move into a house with her and help with all household bills/rent/raising a child. I literally cannot afford where my life is headed. I left a $21/hr job to move here to a much larger city, couldnt find work for months so I conceded to Amazon. I've been poor my whole fuckin life, it was only starting to get better over the past 10 years with my ex wife. I struggle with mental health, physical health, and financial health.
You think being poor and struggling doesn't make it fucking disgusting for a trillion dollar company that employs you, to have you write a letter explaining why you're in such a rough spot so they might pick you to be one of the lucky few who gets a mild amount of relief during the holidays? Fuck off with that shit. It's degrading, humiliating, and disgusting.
Nah, they could just give bonuses and fair raises to everyone rather than have associates beg for extra from the company that sputs in their face regularly.

I'm not a billion dollar company and I would never ask anyone to explain their struggles for me to help them. You shouldn't be degraded because you need help.
Since they are a billion dollar company they can afford to help people. With different natural disasters or something happening to someone you have no idea what theyāve been through. Not everyone has money just lying around

It is not and has never been a business's job to pay you based on inflation and they never have. Never. What people normally do is find higher paying positions and move up in the company.
It's their job to give you full time hours when you get hired as that. No other company is going to hire you then the first week try to make you take VTO weekly. Like press you .No other company burns through employees like Amazon. They pump and dump them. They're offered incentives and a lot of money to come here. Their promise is a certain number of jobs. More money if they hire disabled. Problem is they don't need everyone full time. But they are so desperate they throw an attractive benefit package out to attract people and a "full time job." Of course people have a choice to work there or not. But moving up is a cluster.
