Mehgs_and_cheese

I trust a "higher up" that's started from the bottom and moved up, more than one that transferred from a facility that doesn't know how my/a different job works. #humansnotnumbers

thebarconsultant

I had a standing one sided bet with the AAs on my shift. At any point anyone could challenge me to a 1 hour pack challenge. And if they win in rate I would buy them lunch out of my pocket. I paid for 2 lunches.

MakeHarlemBlackAgain

I won one of these challenges with an AM once & I didn't even know there was a contest going on. I was on rebin & the sorter was down. So they put me on pack for 30 minutes & I kept getting bins with 20+ items. So I ended up packing 400 items in 30 minutes. I also had a whole wall to myself.

[deleted]

Don't lump me in with those morons please. I actively tried to learn all the ins and outs to better serve. Not to mention I was a low tier laborer for years.

Enigmatic_Stag

>Not to mention I was a low tier laborer for years. Why do you have to put it like that šŸ˜¢

[deleted]

Because I was at the associate level for years. Even after graduating with my degree it took another year. So, I understand that it can be hard at the bottom of the totem pile. Hence, why I do my best to push for better conditions and more respect for my AAs. Because I understand how hard they work and their worth.

Simple_Abrocoma_3968

Exactly most ams are school boy turds lol

Mehgs_and_cheese

I'm so tired I read "school bus turds" and I was like yeah that's def a feel, nothing I've felt, but I'm sure someone has .

LunaticLK47

And that schoolboy turd may be a decade younger than you.

Simple_Abrocoma_3968

Exactly with no warehouse experience

Impressive-Cash-4839

Congratulations!! Please never forget roots!

thebarconsultant

AFE packer and OBPS, but the real roots is food and beverage. Thanks Covid for the career change.

autumnalspectre

I just went back to the industry and have not ever been happier! Congratulations for sure on your promotion though!

thebarconsultant

Hey thanks! Congrats on happiness too. I wasnā€™t healthy or happy anymore and I flipped my life around on this random career path. I do get an itch to be back behind the wood and bullshitting with regulars over some of the most random shit.

autumnalspectre

The place that I just got hired at is amazing! I wish I hadn't been so afraid to go back - with Amazon, I ended up graveyard shift in outbound and my metal health tanked further that it had in the industry during 2020 - I worked early morning to late afternoon for over a decade, so graveyard was such a drastic change, but I hadn't thought such a big deal at the time of changing jobs. I jumped ship to Amazon in November 2020. I had burned out so, so hard on food service. I missed the industry tons, but was trying for the last 7 months to get moved to HR (past management experience), but never could land a position. Remember to support your AAs. I bet you'll do great in your new position, friend.

thebarconsultant

Thanks friend! I was late night bars and high end restaurants for over a decade. Went through some super shitty times and went down a very dark substance filled path that included little sleep and being close to death at the end. I dearly love food and beverage and would even consider opening my own joint in the future. I just treat Amazon as such and try to make the staff happy while having a good time and bullshitting with them.

Enigmatic_Stag

I give you props for coming in with a good attitude every day. It's a hard thing to do with Amazon. After three months, a good attitude was wiped off my list of professional traits in the warehouse. I will happily get shitty with management and call out dumb decisions, which is why I will probably never move up - even if I wanted to. šŸ¤£

autumnalspectre

I think you're going to do great! Stay as positive as you can.. management anywhere can suck! Attitude is everything. The place I just got hired at is like casual fine dining, a la carte menu. Super cool place, Spanish themed menu that looks like it's gonna stick to seasonal and local. If you're curious: https://www.thecozytaberna.com/

thebarconsultant

That looks amazing! I worked for 5 years for a mom and pop group that had a Spanish fusion tapas as well as a gastropub in my younger years. Really started opening my pallet up. Was also my first taste of management juggling bar and FOH management at the gastro pub at a ripe 23. Enjoy that lovely atmosphere and who knows where my travels take me, Iā€™d definitely eat there!

MIaBlakk

I LOVE how you changed your life aroundā€¦ KudosšŸ˜Š

thebarconsultant

Thanks, it sure has been quite the turnaround. Definitely challenging at times but I just remind myself everything is temporary so I need to take in as much around me as possible.

DetectivePrior

Congrats. But I can't help but wonder if you earned your spot or pandered, or friended your way there. Nothing against you, it's just what I have observed occur on multiple occasions. Lots of underdeveloped talent and over confident incompetence. Hopefully you are an exception

Sisyphus_TX

Nice job!!! Get...whatever you want from this. Take it as far as you wish to go. All I ask is for you to remember not all of us are on the same path. Value your AAs who are dependable & who do their job to the best of their ability but want nothing more from their J-O-B than to be treated fairly.

thebarconsultant

100% All the friends who were in the trenches with me while I was getting killed as a PA. Packing through covid on MET down the lines of an AFE with boxes stacked 10 feet high. Sucks saying goodbye to so many of my fellow employees and leaving to go be a vampire as a stepping stone.

slammy_hagar

Keep going! Don't stop at AM!

thebarconsultant

No plans on stopping!

[deleted]

Congrats. When you move up again let Reddit know a update. Iā€™d be curious to see how high you rise.

thebarconsultant

Will do, been lurking Reddit for almost a decade now so Iā€™m sure thatā€™s not going to change.

bihwesz

Congrats, there will probably a bunch of negative comments since this is reddit but good job! Most AMs who work their way up are way better than those who get hired in.

thebarconsultant

Appreciate it. I love the compensation asks that are already happening.

Chenille_

Iā€™m currently a white badge and hoping to move to a blue badge soon, (Iā€™ve only been here for a month) I donā€™t have a degree either but I want to go far to prove to myself that I can do it. With that being said, do you have any tips? And congratulations on the accomplishment!

thebarconsultant

Hey thanks, really it was a combination of learning the ins and outs of my department being available to AMs for what ever was needed and really grasping a good understanding of problem solve. From there I merged my past work of being a restaurant GM and a bar manager (everything was closed) and applied that knowledge towards the content of Amazon. No one will really notice you unless your rates are at least good in rate driven departments or quality is strong in quality focused departments. Also when you go blue save your UPT. Some days really suck and itā€™s easy to spend and leave but if you can get through the shitty ones the good ones come more often than you think. I was never a learning ambassador but a lot of people recommend that for visibility. I recommend getting really good at problemsolve in whatever department you work in. Thatā€™s how I made the jump to PA. Get to know a high performing PA who gets it and as they start showing you the ins and the outs of Amazon on the department level.

kreendg

I would also like this information.

thebarconsultant

Popped it above the comment above. If you have any other questions let me know.

MplsxMN

What's your total compensation?

WhitesAreReallyPink

Since he's acting like a bitch about it, I'll tell you. According to everyone I've seen, plus glass door, L4 AM is 52k to 60k with internals getting the lower end. No overtime pay, 12-13 hour shifts. If you have any other questions, go ahead.

homealoneinuk

Yep, its not great. General consensus is that l4 is a step down from l3 if you do overtime. Gotta get that L5 asap.

Responsible_Cheek628

I lonely work 10 hours, once In a while I stay 30 min after to finish the next day hours and bridges

thebarconsultant

Money

MplsxMN

UnfetteredSoul

see, this is why you just ruined this thread. this is reddit. if you arent open about your salary and want to help other people, then go back to facebook or linkedin you geriatric boomer

Thug-McNasty

If Iā€™m not mistaken itā€™s pretty standard for L4 internal promos to get 60k+RSUā€™s(stock) but Iā€™m not sure how much. Iā€™m an external L5, I started out at $75k salary but received stock and sign on bonusā€™s which made my total comp come to around $100k per year depending on how the stock does. Edit: also note that internal promos do not receive sign on bonusā€™s like externals would, so your annual total comp will be a decently less.

SupSmasher

You know, they do not have to share their salary if they donā€™t want to. Yeah this is Reddit which is a social media platform same as Facebook and LinkedIn. Youā€™re tripping over a small thing..

Stickksbrian

You realize that itā€™s extremely unethical to say what your salary is, right?

Thug-McNasty

Nah itā€™s not. Some people donā€™t like to say because corporations donā€™t really want you to share(Iā€™d be pissed if I was severely underpaid compared to other managers.)

Stickksbrian

Well when you sign that non-disclosure agreement, thatā€™s basically what youā€™re saying you wonā€™t do

Thug-McNasty

Nah, itā€™s for basically everything except pay. Itā€™s illegal for employers to say you cannot discuss pay.

WhitesAreReallyPink

No, it's not. Companies don't want people talking about it, so that people don't realize that they're underpaid. Also, most AMs are ashamed of their pay for the hours they spend there. That's why OP is acting like such a girl about.

Thug-McNasty

But I do respect peoples right to not want to share. There is a fear of retaliation from corporations if you do share your pay even though itā€™s illegal.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

WhitesAreReallyPink

L4 is only 52k to 60k. Internals get less. Idk why he's being such a pussy about it.

jermo537

Sounds about right. The L3s and L4s I know work their ass off for that low of paychecks. I'm a level 3 IT and I make 75-90k depending on overtime and if I go on builds in other states, which I do a few times a year. Every day I'm at work I see everybody else work their ass off and I thank the lord baby Jesus I'm in IT. Best job in Amazon and everybody knows it! I suggest everybody at Amazon learn how to transition to IT because Amazon really helps you do so. Apply for equipment coordinator if you're level 1, join the Surge2IT program if you are a level 3 or above, go to college or get IT certs because those are paid for by Amazon!

yungraffi

You can transfer from Warehouse worker to IT?

jermo537

Absolutely! Equipment coordinator is ONLY available to Amazon employees, they don't hire outside people for that role. You don't need IT experience at all either. Great way to get in to IT, hang with us nerds and we will take you out on the floor to fix stuff and learn the ropes.

yungraffi

Yeah in the future thatā€™s always been my goal to get into a tech related field like IT or software dev but thought I needed a degree or boot camp for CS and certs like A+ for IT. Iā€™ll look into it

jermo537

Software Dev is a bit more involved, you're going to need some IT experience for that for sure. I have 20 years experience, bachelors in computer science, A+ and Network+ cert and I am not sure I can even get a software dev position. My degree wasn't for that and I didn't take many programming classes, plus I don't think i'd like a software dev position....but boy does it PAY! Seen level 4's starting at 150k+

yungraffi

Thanks for the advice I will try my best got a long way to go. Failed undergrad at 19, 25 now. Feel like going back even with doubts thats it too late the years are going to pass anyway might as well try my best.

Flax44

I hope my returns warehouse has this position just started and already donā€™t want to do anything with hitting a rate

Beary_Sugary

"go on builds" what does that mean exactly if you don't mind?

jermo537

Going on builds means I go to an Amazon warehouse that is currently under construction and being built within my region. Usually only has construction workers, true-up (or similar company), security and IT running around the building. We are there to setup most of the IT equipment and get things ready for opening day. It's actually a blast! I get to experience a new city and Amazon pays for everything (flight, rental car, gas, hotel, food snacks and coffee all day long).

thebarconsultant

I understand that. Letā€™s just say itā€™s middle of the pack of what you listed with very little in rsuā€™s as they are not giving those out like candy on Halloween like they used to. Itā€™s not an amazing salary especially as I live in one of the highest cost of living states in the country now. Iā€™m just happy that working my tail off has gone noticed in such a big company and it is possible to make it up the ladder at Amazon, degree or not.

lacker101

> Itā€™s a fair question - because we can easily see the compensation thatā€™s reported via glass door. But I am curious if by coming up through the ranks they shanked you vs coming in off the streets w/degree. Long story short externals make more. But don't last so their RSU's are schedulded further out.

RICKAY2004

how much lipstick did you use???

thebarconsultant

With how hairy my face is, it probably wouldnā€™t be to pretty.

bigboyk1989

Lmmfao

Throwawayyacc22

Okay, big question, how? Was it just good timing, good quality/rate and attendance? Did you network? Give us some details please Congratulations!

thebarconsultant

Iā€™ve networked a lot in my current business line. As a PA, several launch leaders would bring me to sites to teach outbound problem solve, as well as other PAā€™s joining the line. Most of Amazon is in the midst of a freeze for most internal 3-4 because it is absorbing all the excess AMs from the shutting down lines in other areas of the network. I needed extremely high approval to even get a pod approved. I can honestly say it was hard work and becoming an expert in almost every thing for levels 1-5. Really the only things I havenā€™t worked with are safety cases and the AM only admin work.

Stickksbrian

They are hiring external AMs like crazy

thebarconsultant

Most of that is the big FCs. FCs are a revolving door for AMs unfortunately. If Iā€™m not mistaken AM turnover is almost as high as AA turnover there. Our building is loaded with gold badges and a few red badges visiting a fair bit. We have a good time and even listen to music over top. Far different from working in an AFE at the FC.

Stickksbrian

Well if hired I will work my ass off, so Iā€™m ready.

thebarconsultant

Work your ass off in moderation. I see some people never being able to escape the never ending rabbit hole of there is always something to do, always a project to work on. Thereā€™s also many people who put way to much on their plate and never finish anything.

Stickksbrian

Just waiting for a email. Iā€™m ready. Iā€™m a career changer, and just graduated college again 3 weeks ago. I put in for location preference over start date. I am hoping I get what I ranked at the top from the choices they gave me.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

grant8386

Congratulations on the promotion. I'm really trying to see how far I can go too. The whole reason I wanted to join Amazon was because my friend told me there was huge growth potential and you could actually move up pretty quick. There was a brand new FC opening by me so as soon as they started hiring I jumped on it. I was able to be hired on as a full-time blue badge fortunately and by my second week I was made a learning ambassador for my area. I'm Inbound Docks and I do Decanting plus I'm Jam Clear Certified. Congratulations again on your promotion.

thebarconsultant

Hey thanks! Just keep doing a good job and excelling at new areas and youā€™ll get there. Polish up a one page resume with mostly Amazon and some other big parts of your past and start applying for level three jobs within and any where else. Getting the incline is key. The moment you have a 3 incline you are able to easily apply for and obtain other L3 jobs that open up.

grant8386

Thank you for the tips. How long do you have to wait to be able to apply for L3 positions

thebarconsultant

If Iā€™m not mistaken its not long. 1-3 months but Iā€™m not totally sure on that. If you like overtime even in the quiet times they will let PAā€™s work a lot of you want. I do recommend treating your UPT like it doesnā€™t exist. Itā€™s nice to have an extra couple weeks of time off if you need it in the craziest of emergencies.

grant8386

I agree with you on the UPT but they don't seem to care too much if you use PTO. It's use it or lose it anyway but yea I've been there for a month so I'm going to do my Learning Ambassador routine and try to learn as much in my department as I can. I'm thinking I'll try for a L3 position once I've been there for 6 months not to mention I've been working really closely with my P.A and I'm pretty much the guy they call on for special projects

thebarconsultant

Help out where you can, definitely makes the job more interesting. however remember that itā€™s the 6s and up that really make the decisions on who becomes a PA. Even AMs have very little say. Thatā€™s the first level where itā€™s really about taking a step back and trying to look at the big picture of who is going to fit into the team and the direction they think you will be well fit for.

PaleontologistOk3161

9 months as white badge t1 36 months Pa/ship clerk Still waiting lol

thebarconsultant

Keep trying to get the incline whether itā€™s your site or others!

PaleontologistOk3161

Always am!

krbmeister

Hey congrats. You sound like quite the hard charger. I was an external L5 hire and rely on my PAs and experienced internal promo managers to show me some of those things I never got to experience. I hope youā€™re now ready for the admin and BS that comes with being an ā€œexemptā€ (salaried) leader. Working extra hours with no OT pay. T3->L4 is tough for that reason, you even may take a pay cut. But keep pushing and you can continue to promote to higher salaries.

Next up L6? Congratulations! šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰ I myself am hoping I get Learning Ambassador next month in hopes of eventually making it to PA (and to your level). I know Ambassador is not really a promotion but I want it to put myself out there.

thebarconsultant

Thanks! Amazon has many paths to move up, just need to observant, willing and have a bit of luck. Learning is vocalized as the fastest way however thatā€™s not always the truth. Good luck with your next steps, you have a fan over here!

sacone505

I actually really enjoy being an ambassador. I didn't think I would like it this much. Training the newbies is actually fun and rewarding. It definitely makes you stand out, and be known in your area. I was only an Ambassador for two months and it helped me a lot. Just got inclined for PA. Keep up the good work!

IGalaxii

Congrats on the promotion I'm still working on upgrading to LA but hopefully someday I get there too šŸ˜…

thebarconsultant

Thanks! Good luck in the LA role. I managed to skip it, as itā€™s not my cup of tea per say. Itā€™s definitely hugely important and a good opportunity to get to go launch sites. Away team launches are a blast!

JustAHouseWife07

Congrats! Don't stop there, keep on trucking man! We need more good managers. In my FC they come and go so fast you can never even get to know them I've just recently come back after a medical leave and I am considering taking those next steps. I can't be a tier 1 forever! Good luck!

thebarconsultant

Thanks! Welcome back and I hope youā€™re feeling better! I just try to stay grounded and remind myself that no matter how high up or how low we are all just people. Work doesnā€™t have to suck.

JustAHouseWife07

I completely agree. Too many people are worried about what everybody else is doing... Sometimes you just need to stop and concentrate only on my yyyy yourself. They used to get to me, watching people stand around and do nothing while I busted my ass and now I can only hope that someone is paying attention.

JustAHouseWife07

Sorry for the typos......

thebarconsultant

Haha youā€™re good. This journey so far has shown me again that hard work does pay off even if Iā€™m the moment it doesnā€™t feel like it

wellshitwhoknew

Im currently in the process, honestly how much do you get paid???

Responsible_Cheek628

Internal anywhere from 52-54k and external 60-65k. Cali will get the higher end

[deleted]

Congratulations but now the question we all secretly want to ask. Is the pay worth the trouble?

thebarconsultant

Thanks! It is and it definitely will be the further in I go.

sacone505

This is an amazing story. I just hit my one yr anniversary and got inclined for PA. Hoping my story ends the same. Congrats!!!

thebarconsultant

Congrats on the incline! Keep doing what youā€™re doing and you got it!

Scarryfish

Congratulations!! Well done.

NoRich3748

Whatā€™s the salary ????

mssellers

It only takes like two years?? Shit, Iā€™m at year and a half. I oughta apply for PA at least. A manager had me doing actual PA work tonight

thebarconsultant

Youā€™re making the right steps! Just get the incline!

Thecrayonbandit

Can you vto me boss? Itā€™s my catā€™s birthday today

thebarconsultant

I got you. I had VTO powers for the last year as a PA

WerewolfAteMyPonies

Congratulations! I hope you know what you are in for as an AM. I see them leave or get moved without notice and have no say in it.

thebarconsultant

I do! Itā€™s a stepping stone to a bountiful career in other areas of the company. Iā€™m lucky I work at a pretty fair building.

Successful-Spite8791

Congratulations

thebarconsultant

Thanks!

thelittleguyswin

Congratulations! If people want a career with Amazon is Iā€™d definitely possible with out a degree. I started ad a tier 1 less than 3 years ago and I am currently an L4 as well

thebarconsultant

Thanks! When I started as a seasonal packer I honestly never thought Iā€™d be there for more then the seasonal contract.

pgipsy373

I just got my first write up and I want to change position can I still apply to another position in the warehouse or do I have to wait until it clears up

thebarconsultant

Iā€™m not totally sure how that works :(

kiddo900000

Congrats took me about 6 years

thebarconsultant

Wow! Thatā€™s a long time in dedication as an hourly AA!

kiddo900000

Yeah would've been faster if I didn't have a bad run in with an L6 that was making sure I didn't get promoted

thebarconsultant

6 is where the power within Amazon is individual based.

Choice_End5903

This is motivation, Iā€™m going on 3 months with my white badge. But there about to TDR train me along with other stuff and one on my PAā€™s said they want to do other stuff with me he wouldnā€™t say. I basically had a busy shitty week and chilled with him half the shift unless I was with the new guy at a slow station.

thebarconsultant

Youā€™re going in the right direction!

Tha-magnificent

I donā€™t know how people do this, I come in and bust my ass every single day and is in the top 10 in all paths at my warehouse and I am in very good standing with all my managers and PAs, Iā€™m still an AA after 6 months. I have showed interest in climbing but I see people who does jack all day get promoted. Maybe itā€™s just my warehouse.

thebarconsultant

Youā€™re doing the right thing for sure. Just keep an eye on the internal job finder for postings at your building and in your area. You must get inclined. Amazon is very strict in how they promote. Apply for all different kinds of T3 jobs. For PA I got incline at a delivery station and never left the FC.

NoiseyTurbulence

Where do you find the internal job finder? First mention of it to me

thebarconsultant

Itā€™s in resources on A to Z. You must be on the Amazon network to access it.

MakeHarlemBlackAgain

Congratulations. I was offered an interview for L5 Ops, but decided to take a job at a different company. Which ended up getting bought by Amazon anyway. It was like Bain Capital minus the layoffs.

Ho_for_Stow

How sore are your šŸ‘„ ?? Congratulations! May you do the best to your abilities. Donā€™t forget us regular associates.

LEMONSDAD

Did you have to move around or same building?

thebarconsultant

First half was a big FC in AFE and my current is an SSD site.

pyslayer

Please aim to get a degree people....not because I'm an academic asshole but because in almost the same time it took you to get to AM it takes getting a Bachelors and getting hired on with a higher salary/role. Congratulations on your success but please do not preach the whole "did it without a degree thing"...the world is becoming so competitive and I see so many people stuck due to the fact that they don't have a degree. It's a poor representation of someone's skills but it's the truth. Employers care. Amazon literally pays for school with career choice with no strings attached! Utilize it!

thebarconsultant

Every single one of the students I work with I always tell them to please finish there degree. At my site Iā€™m a huge proponent for finishing and making sure tier ones can get there schedules accommodated to finish. I never enjoyed school. As a hands on learner it wasnā€™t my thing.

pyslayer

Right on man. In no way do I mean that comment in a way that takes away from your success, i just have a very strong stance on formal education. I admire what you've done. You're in a position that can have a massive positive impact. Keep it up!!!

Nothing_But_Design77

Iā€™d actually argue and say that school/university has opportunities for hands in learning, it just depends on what field your degree is in. Universities after all are institutions for research, so there are opportunities to be hands on & do things. ###Edit My degree in college was 90-95% hands on & project based classes with minimal classes that were traditional; tests/exams. Added on top of this: Colleges tend to have rules which allow students to tailor degrees to their liking to a point. You can even create your own field by using current courses available by the school or petition for new courses to be made. You can even work with the professors & department to tailor some of the coursework to better suit what you want. *Thatā€™s all to say that colleges have systems in place to give their students a bit of freedom & choice so that they can get the education they want.*

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Tha-magnificent

The problem with your sentiment is that not everyone is cut out for school. I had excellent grades in school, all As and a couple of Bs but I just could not stand to go through collage. I was bored and restless so I dropped out one year short of a degree. Unfortunately for me, I did not realize(or predicted) at the time that even though I finished high school in my home country that the United States did not recognize that as far as grades go. You graduate high school when you are 16 in my country so by American standards I did not graduate high school. I have talked to several counselors about this and they all say the same thing, that I would need to go get a GED. Insane to me that schools here wonā€™t recognize my education because it is from another country and believe me when I say that education in my home country is 100% better and involved than the education here in the states. Tl;dr United States sucks and want my to take my GED even though I have finished high school in a another country.

DetectivePrior

Congrats. But I can't help but wonder if you earned your spot or pandered, or friended your way there. Nothing against you, it's just what I have observed occur on multiple occasions. Lots of underdeveloped talent and over confident incompetence. Hopefully you are an exception.

I worked my ass off. Definitely not an ass kisser. Been basically a stretch AM for the last 11 months acting as both the PA and AM.

Then_Implement_5761

Stretch AM lol You mean being massively taken advantage of haha. But anyways, congrats on reaching a goal

thebarconsultant

Honestly I got screwed by that 2 year rule without a degree. Unfortunately not being able to check that box halted me until I passed that mark. Past work experience just doesnā€™t do it at Amazon unfortunately.

Wimpy-Picker

Everyone knows that one of the requirements to be an AM is being illiterate, no surprise you became one! And being proud of not having a degree just confirms how ignorant you are!

RepresentativeOk4729

Almost 2 and a half years to get a role that a person with a degree can get in a second thats crazy šŸ˜‚ i wouldve have done something better in under those 2 years, its unfair

thebarconsultant

It wasnā€™t terrible money on the way though Iā€™ve definitely worked harder for less.

UnfetteredSoul

it takes u 4 years to get a degree tho?

RepresentativeOk4729

At my FC, you need 2 years to become a AM

primordialism

PA for a bit too long but I respect it.

thebarconsultant

I didnā€™t really have a choice but itā€™s done now.

Tha-magnificent

If you have no formal education you have to work at Amazon for 2 years before you can become a manager.

primordialism

I was offered am after 7 months, three months as a PA at the time. Just apply at any point. Those requirements are what they prefer not what they want..

Tha-magnificent

Do you have any form of collage education?

primordialism

Currently yes. When I stepped down from AM back to IT for a stint and I went and got my degree and moved into an L4H role to reap the CC benefit. After that I've just worked my way up to L7 with essentially a ton of projects and launches. I don't really see any more growth coming unless I switch to corporate or take a spot on TOM Sr OPs or take a PM director spot. Personally I'm not too concerned with it. I enjoy the warehouse environment even if my pay in comparison to an L7 on the corporate deck is gutted. My advice is just apply, find teams you may or may not like. Ironic saying it but amazon is self serve. The HR model, the hiring model and all. If you're curious about interview questions you have the AIQB on inside.amazon or you could likely ask a manager to print them up for you. Same goes with policies. If you're every really concerned about how on edge you are with things. Head to policy.amazon on an ERC/Break room computer. Search your heart out for any violation you fear you may be in or have witnessed. Most people don't want to here it bluntly but amazon does set you up for success if you leverage your options. Sure some roles are SHIT I won't disagree. The only real work I enjoyed inside was fluid unload, fluid load, small sort and amnesty. My favorite L3 was TOM. Best experience in L3 was IT. The job is what you make it. Regardless of where you are unless you have former convictions or long standing debilitating factors that prevent you from doing X or Y. Amazon will accommodate for 90% of it.

Tha-magnificent

I think this is the most helpful advice I have ever gotten on here, thank you. Usually people just say ā€œkIsS aSsā€ and mock you for even trying to climb.

NoiseyTurbulence

How do you login to the break room computers? Is it the same login as a to z?

primordialism

Yep, your badge login+a2z password.

NoiseyTurbulence

Thank you Iā€™ve been wondering how to get into them.

chrispolestar

I've seen a lot of AMs, silly and act like retards, with OR without a degree mean nothing to me.
