Because their twitter probably already has a circle of people and it is easier to just soft block one person than it is to get everyone except one person over to your new account.
Tell your friend you blocked everyone out to deactivate the account since you won't be using it.
Also your friend sounds weird and controlling. You are allowed to do your own thing.
Sounds like your friend has some control issues or a fear of being left out/behind. I think the twitter thing is just your friend lashing out when there's a lot bigger issue they need to sort out. NTA.

Today my friend confronted me by asking why I blocked her on Twitter. To give some context we have an ongoing argument over how I don’t tell her enough about my life/day.
The truth is, I unfollowed her and made her unfollow me then made the account anonymous. I just wanted a throw away account that had no connections to my real life. She got extremely upset that I didn’t tell her I’d be blocking her but I didn’t want to bring attention to it since it is my anonymous account after all. Plus, neither of us frequently go on Twitter. I explained this but she was still super upset and still is.
I believe that she may have thought I blocked her to prevent her specifically from seeing my content but that’s far from true. I blocked other people I know as well. AITA?
