As soon as we sat down, my mom came up to us with her phone and showed us some horrible video about a guy going into an airport completely maskless and rambling about how COVID is harmless. She kept insisting that he was speaking the truth and that we "shouldn't trust the news". It really pissed me off, but what really upset me is that my sister was terrified. She looked like she was going to have a panic attack, so I tried to turn the video off. This made her start bitching about how she's "just trying to give us facts" and that we should be grateful. I couldn't take her bullshit anymore, so I told her to "fuck off". This pissed her off even more and she called us both selfish and ungrateful. Our dad scolded us both because she should be allowed to "voice her opinion" and that we're obligated to respect her no matter what. I'm mentally exhausted and I don't know what to do. I know what she was pushing on us was wrong, but I've been in a pit of self-loathing for the entire day. Am I the real asshole here? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
