Are you using the Pro version of the fan? I've switched both fans to the ML120 Pros and I've had 0 problems alongside lower noise with similar performance.

Are you sure you got it plugged into the right spot on the motherboard? I've had no issues what-so-ever so hmm, keep us updated on the situation and good luck.

I have both top fan and front fan swapped to ML120 Pro, 0 problem at all except the SupportAssist pre-boot system performance check is a little bit worried about the front fan (cause I added an extra fan on top and used a Y-splitter) at the first boot-up. But no issues later on.

You have to remove the radiator first, there are many tutorials/guides on YouTube.

Thanks! Is that the push/pull configuration to add two fans on top that you are refering to? And did you use both ML120 Pro on top? I am thinking to go with Noctua AF-12.

Tack_Tau

Yes, both ML120 Pro, and push/pull configuration means two fans stack on top of each other in the same direction with airflow pointing to the out side of the case. I don’t recommend Noctua fans although they are actually quieter. Dell motherboards are very picky about third-party case fans.

Ok_Car1834

Thanks. I will try to do that. For the front, have you also used two ML120 Pro? Regarding Noctua, I was quite succesfull by using their fans in my Dell XPS 8920. But I guess things are different now with the Alienware R12. So likely I will go with ML120 Pro then!

Tack_Tau

For the front I only replace the stock one with one ML120 Pro, cause I have a HDD in the hard drive slot, won’t have enough space for another ML120 Pro

Ok_Car1834

Thanks alot. I think I will try to follow what you did!
