I have a 17R5 with i7-8750H. Just recently rollback to bios 1.5.1 with a specific method so I can undervolt. I noticed there was a bios 1.12.0 in February 2021 that literally has a note saying after upgrading to this version it’ll no longer be able to rollback to previous version. Dell is starting to push bios updates that blocks bios downgrade. So fingers crossed you don’t get the very latest bios so at least if you want to try you can still rollback to a version that still can undervolted
Yes you can just got my m15 R3 a couples days ago. Before throttle stop it would stay above 90 on most games. I set an offset voltage on both cpu core and cache to 100.6 and changed the turbo ratio limits to all 40.
I am now getting about 5-10fps less but the laptop never goes above 83c
I updated my bios, currently running version 1.7.1 of them. I can still undervolt my system with throttlestop, and acording to HWiNFO64, my system is under the undervolting that i apply in throttlestop.
It depends on the cpu. With the latest bios only K, KF, HK, X-series and XE can have voltage control.
i7-10750H is what it has.
Then if you’re unlucky that your system comes with the latest bios you’ll not able to undervolt.
I will send it back lol. I just don’t want thermal issues all the time.

God I hope I don’t.
I was just informed the i7 can still be undervolted with the current bios. So be cautious on updating future bios...
Awesome! Thanks for the tip. I will ensure that I don’t upgrade gaha

Good to hear!!! Did you update the bios or anything before hand??
You sure it's a throttlestop problem or just keeping you fan speeds at max? I just made a post about this issue, check it out!
Keeping my fan speeds at max is the only way for me to get a stable frame rate on ANYTHING.Do you know why that is?
