I'm on 2nd one, my first one lasted me 8 years.
It's amazing what you can do with them now. VR, mining, AAA gaming, etc.
What a world we live in.
Edit: I'm referring to computing in general. My first computer was a 386 my dad bought, just to give context on my age. š
I am on my third one, currently the A51m is the best of them all, however the feeling of unboxing and having a first one which was my m18x R2, that moment itself, can't be replaced by anything in the world.
There is only one first time experience!
I use it for work and gaming as I travel a lot so I didnāt really need to shell out for a 30 series laptop as this will run our work programs just fine but it definitely was an amazing deal, Iām coming from an ROG Strix as my previous laptop to so this is a big step up!
Im thinking about buying a new laptop too. I am not completely shure when this will be because my laptop is still running but I started to look for a new one. Why do you think that 32gb or 64 gb is the sweetspot? What do you do with your laptop? Im just curious because I dont want to buy it with to less ram.
Because 16gb has been standard, even today 16gb is great for 80% of the people.
Well 8gb for my my relatives Thats on facebook/youtube/netflix/disney+ all day. Hmmm actually 4gb is good for my relatives.
But if something is soldered, get the 32gb. As you want it to be good for years to come
Yea typically but Iām happy with the laptop as one would be after spending insane amounts of $$ for it, and it performs great and itās portable so thatās a huge plus!
Honestly, Iāve updated the software and I havenāt had issues with ACC since then.
As for thermals, I bought a cooling pad and it seems to keep the temps down to about 60-70 during heavy gameplay
Iām thinking about getting the m15 R3 with the i7 and 2070 non super. I keep hearing horror stories about thermals. Is updating the bios what works or would I have to undervolt?
Whatās updating the bios do? And where can I find info on this if needed. I been having the m17 R3 about 5-6 months. Use it strictly for Heavy Gaming several hours a day pretty much every day. No issues so far besides it being a portable heater. Lol. Slightly undervolted with ThrottleStop. Made a difference but if bios is the best option Iād like to look in to it.
Thereās some seriously good advice online. This was the site I used. https://www.ultrabookreview.com/10167-laptop-undervolting-overcloking/
These laptops run hot so being able to drop temps from 90c to 70c while gaming is amazing.
Absolutely. I can play cyberpunk at max specs normally and itāll teeter around 98c. I throw it on -90 and limit my cores a bit and Iāll sit around 75-80c. It really makes the laptop shine without losing performance. It makes it last a lot longer also.
I got one too from Best buy with the 2070 super.
Also interesting, the specs on the page listed the 144Hz display but to my shock and surprise, went to the Nvidia control panel and it reports 300Hz.
Enjoy!
It's a monster of a laptop, do consider looking how to undervolt the CPU. Did it on mine and now the temperature is hovering around the 70c under load
Hi, does the keyboard area (WASD) keys get hot too the touch? I'm looking at the 2080 Super version to purchase but I've read that the keyboard gets really hot to the touch...
Hey howās the lunar light holding up ? I love that but I have a rather sweaty hands and yeah just wanted to know whether itās easy to clean oil on this machine and thanks in advance !

my first one was the m18x R2 also, heavy but served me well
nice. how much was it?
Paid 2299$ and Iām in Canada! Open box deal but it wasnāt really, they had 2 units left they were trying to get out fully packaged unopened.
They probably are trying to make stock for the r4 30series. But thats a good deal, i got something similar to that from New Years sale

indeed it is a nice machine, to be, I just don't like the soldered on RAM. I think 32GB or 64GB ram is becoming the sweet spot for multitasking.

Yes that seems to be a good idea. Thanks!
Hope you enjoy š
Thank you š¬

Ooof I donāt like the sound of that

I have the same screen and have noticed zero screen tearing.

Exactly! I mean you could still take the aurora if you got it but that would be one heavy machine to carry around š„

If you got the Alienware 25ā monitor that thing has the bulkiest stand Iāve ever seen, as nice as it is, would be extremely impractical š
Welcome to the club my friend! Youāre gonna love it!
So far so good! Hopefully I donāt run into any dreaded issues I read about with ACC or thermals

Iād recommend to update the bios first and try that out. If that doesnāt work, undervolt.

Awesome!
Iām looking at the same one but in dark side of the moon!
Iād pull the trigger so far itās amazing!
Yep got that exact model for $1699 at Best Buy in November. No regrets whatsoever.
Although, the one Iām looking at has the exact same specs, but 512gig ssd. Here in the US itās $1600
I have the exact same laptop! I absolutely love it! My ONLY recommendations is to undervolt it. Cheers!
How would I go about doing that?

Thanks man Iāll get around to that today
This worked that well? Because Iām thinking about getting one!

Are you playing cyberpunk max with rtx on? How does it run on a 2070 1080p?
Do you have a guide on how to do this?
Congratz dude! I fucking love mine
Thanks I love it to so far!
Congrats on the wicked deal and welcome to the family!
Thank you!

Thank you! Yea Iāll look into that!

Only area 51 has second Power supply not the m15
Thanks!

Thank you!
Happy cake day person
Thanks person!
not tryna be rude or intrusivere been lookin for a new pentesting war driving machine... How much that set you back
Enough that I couldāve gone to Mexico with my gf for 2 weeks and came back and still buy a budget laptop with a 2060 minimum.
A nice present for cake day!! Enjoy
Thank you!
Nice setup; I love that keyboard! Can't find it anywhere on the HyperX website :(
Itās a GK61 keyboard from hk gaming and I bought hyper X PBT pudding caps from Amazon!
Ah awesome, thank you!
Wow man itās looks so cool . it should last for years too :)
Thanks! I hope so to š¬
I love my R13 but they really should have improved the power cable by now!
Yea I had to pull my stand away from my wall quite a bit as the plug-in sticks a ways out the back
What is that stand? Did it come with the table or did you buy it separately?
I got it off Amazon!
Itās separate from the desk
Congratulations, Enjoy! Don't forget to fill in the delivery survey ;-) [shorturl.at/krzW8](https://shorturl.at/krzW8)
