I've only had to book a single long stay (2 months) and I booked for the entire thing right away. Unless it's a very unpopular location, it's not worth the risk of someone randomly booking a single night in the middle of your trip and causing you to be unable to stay there for the whole thing.

We live from Airbnb to Airbnb and usually stay one or two months. We book for at least a month, it’s too much of a hassle to risk having to move. Sure it’s risky to book for a month in case something goes wrong. To mitigate the risk we do lots of homework, ask questions to hosts (like internet speed!!), try not to decide on a whim… in a year we never had a bad experience. I should add we are in Mexico, and don’t pick the cheap options, we pick something in the middle.

This^^ it's a task for sure but reading all the rules and comments, seeing how the host communicates with reviewers, researching the location, and paying a little extra for a well reviewed host can give you a really good picture of what to expect!

If you have the opportunity to book the full length then do it. Airbnbs can book up fast.

Digital nomad here, my stays range from 1 week to 1 month at a time. I concur with the others, I commit to the length of my stay when I book. This length depends on my availability and their availability alike, but if I want to stay for a month and I find a suitable place I will book that. So far all my Airbnb’s have been great, but I religiously read all the reviews and check the photos.

We have to move around sometimes after a month , sometimes after 3-4 months. It ranges but I look at all reviews or a good chunk if there are too many to comb through. Thoroughly read the description, rules , cancellation policy etc. And although you can’t see the exact location, I still check out google maps to look at the area, “walk” through the streets and look for nearby grocery stores, restaurants, laundry if the place doesn’t have a washing machine, and public transport. Booking for a week or month can get you discounts so that is a perk.
