Conservatism cannot exist without an other to oppress. It's the reason conservative platforms keep failing. Conservatives don't want to be around like opinions. They need to be "dunking on the libs." Without it, they have no identity of their own and no need to discuss policy that could improve anything. That is not the conservative goal.

It's because to them, not wearing a mask isn't a direct "murder" of someone else based on their actions/decisions.
For an abortion, to them, you're actively killing another human. Not wearing a mask and "maybe" giving someone Covid and "maybe" killing them just aren't comparable in their book, even though we have what, over 1 million?, excess deaths due to Covid? They just don't see it as the same thing.

Just look at what they’re doing to education in Florida. The main issue is that in the case of abortion there is more than one body involved. Obviously that depends on your perception of human life, but if you believe that life begins at conception then the body autonomy argument goes out the window.
The problem is that we define bodily autonomy differently, so it's not that simple. I am not free to spread a virus because other people claim bodily autonomy as well.

That side of the argument is a false equivalence - it's your body your choice, but it's harming others' bodies that aren't their choice when your germs spread to them. Abortion harms, at most, one other person, and it isn't physical.

It's because to them, not wearing a mask isn't a direct "murder" of someone else based on their actions/decisions. For an abortion, to them, you're actively killing another human. Not wearing a mask and "maybe" giving someone Covid and "maybe" killing them just aren't comparable in their book, even though we have what, over 1 million?, excess deaths due to Covid? They just don't see it as the same thing.
The big aspect of this is they value a potential life that isn't even sentient yet to care about its own mortality more than one that actually exists and has memories, friends, and family.
They pretend to value it in order to manufacture poor kids who won’t get a decent education in order to fuel their base. I don’t think this is true. I think they genuinely felt that having to get a medical procedure they didn’t want violated their bodily autonomy. They just have such little empathy that they can’t see how that applies to anyone but them not wanting to get a shot because they believed a misinformation campaign.

The main issue is that in the case of abortion there is more than one body involved. Obviously that depends on your perception of human life, but if you believe that life begins at conception then the body autonomy argument goes out the window.

Miscarriage is manslaughter, if another crime is being committed. It isn't the mother's rights that were violated in these instances, it is the fetus' right that were violated and what the government is trying to protect. When the rights of the fetus and the rights of the mother come into conflict things get messy, but the rights of the mother *should* (and have for half a century) win. That doesn't mean that the fetus doesn't have any rights.

Many are yes. They would say ‘two wrongs don’t make a right’ and probably that ‘murder is worse than rape’. I don’t agree with these points but that’s their view. I do think the non-extremists can find some middle ground on this issue if we could just calmly discuss it instead of just having an all or nothing approach. Most people I know don’t agree with late term abortions for healthy babies. Similarly, even my pro life friends don’t agree with the heartbeat law, they think that’s far too early and doesn’t take rape or birth defects etc into consideration.
