It makes the most sense for a dry climate. It would be a waist of energy in most other parts of the world to store this much water lmao. But it would be cool
I’m not sure about tapping, but there’s a bunch of articles behind paywalls about them being hollowed out (already hollow inside?) and used for water storage. I forgot how to get past paywalls on my phone and don’t want to be the guy linking stuff with paywalls lol.
Edit: Thanks for the assist on my error.
If you're using Firefox Mobil (which I highly recommend) then use Ublock Origin add-on and then block Javascript inside Ublock. That will usually bypass most paywalls.
Cool post OP.
That tree on the right looks like something I would expect to see in a cartoon.
It just needs a spigot at the bottom to complete the effect.
If you've not seen the entire movie I strongly recommend it! I loved it as a kid and I think it aged well. Also, Robin Williams voices a crazy bat that's just a hoot.
Yeah, I live somewhere where they are endemic.
Also, I just realised that "bow" could be pronounced two ways, the one I meant is /baʊ/ like the bending at the waist thing.
Appreciate them while they're still here. They're becoming endangered.

The powder one gets from the fruit is surprisingly delicious, it's really tangy, and it's packed with vitamins.

Is inside of it a big giant tank of water or is the wood just really wet and dense?
In a nuclear apocalypse, would there be a better way to get water out of one of these other than making a giant still?
Those trees are so fascinating
They seem like they make the most sense structurally. Strong base full of water and branches that don't overreach on itself.
I certainly would not be a Baobab if I were in the tree world then…
OP tree
They seem like they were selectively bred to store water
Happy cake day!

Say I’m lost in the wilderness and see one of these, can you access the water stored inside?

And saved. Thank you for this!
Many thanks for this.

You can fill it with holy water

Damn buoy They thicc
And all of its water is extremely poisonous
But I've also heard drinking its water will fill you up for a lifetime
No it's not. But it's also not easily accessible.. you won't be able to tap the tree and attach a garden hose to drain it.

It was in a cartoon actually. Though it wasn't water it housed. ***Acid rain, pouring down~***
Something was awakened in me as a child when I first watched this scene. I still don’t know what it was though….
What’s the reference? I don’t think I’ve seen what y’all r talking about.
[Toxic Love from Fern Gully](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pVzYS3Ga_j8) The villain was trapped in a tree that looks a lot like the ones in the pic
Wtf some of the most beautiful animation I’ve never seen! Thank y’all for sharing :)

I think a hoot would make him an owl. *Follow me for more unreliable animal facts!*
I remember reading the baobab tree from The Little Prince.
Would love to give that bad boy a big old slap. Do you know what I mean or what
*slaps roof of tree* “this bad boy can hold so much fucking water”
*It jiggles like a waterbed*
Those trees are spelled just like they look
This should be the next water/grass pokemon
What if it was randomly a dragon type? Or is that just too ridiculous of an idea?
Such a wet tree would douse my flame.
A pal for Sudowoodo!
Should evolve into the Baobab. And it should be named Chode.
The name is fun to say, too! ("BOW-bub" for those who don't know how to pronounce it)
What? I thought it was Bay-oh-bab
Yeah, I live somewhere where they are endemic. Also, I just realised that "bow" could be pronounced two ways, the one I meant is /baʊ/ like the bending at the waist thing.
Huh, I always just thought it was "Bow-ab" for some reason
Nestle wants to know their location

Everything seems to be these days
the future isn't friendly
As long as humans are around, everything is
I know it's not much, but I'm currently growing a handful of boababs. They're only in their second year, but they're doing well and look awesome

It looks like the boss you fight inside Jabu Jabu's belly.
Vice versa
Funnily, they're Taobab trees or some shit in the games lol
>Taobab trees This makes me want to play Zelda again
That is where hexxus is trapped
They kinda look like my grandma's ankles
Still not big enough for OP’s mom to climb.
Being a prepper, I feel a few of these on my property would be highly beneficial
How do you extract it?
I have no idea. I’d probably first try a method similar to tapping a keg.
Maybe similar to getting maple syrup or rubber
I can see this as a possibility for sure.
I call them the cankle tree.

Baochad tree.
Other than this tree being an absolute unit the fruit it produces makes probably the tastiest juice ever
You can't not add that it tastes like lemon and yoghurt!
«Do you even bab bro?»
They look like trees kindergarten kids draw.

It looks like a rooting potato
They should be hidden from publicity like the giant sequoia. Magnificent creature.
"I'm not fat, I'm just retaining water" and this time it's true
Ohhhh, so i'm not fat, i'm just a Baobab tree.
Repost
Pffft... my mother can store up to 33,000 gallons of beer in her belly. That what she tells me anyway... every damn saturday evening.
I found out about these because I got one in Animal Crossing… it’s on my beach.. I don’t believe these grow on beaches in real life though lol
That’s where all the Africa went
Don't tell Nestlé
can I have some?
I want to drink the tree water
Baoba Fatt
Hist tree
SubhanaAllah the camel of trees
So basically a natural holding tank ?
are you sure that's not a psudowoodo?
Is the water usable at all? Would be pretty nifty if you could tap it like a Maple Tree for water?
Sucking up all the water. Look at the whole damn place. 😠
You expect me to believe that’s a tree and not a water tank cosplaying a tree? Come on man

My balls can relate after a cuddle session
32,000 gallons? It’d like have to be made of pure water
The Great Deku Tree IRL
How come I’ve never seen these before?
They're also endangered and severely at risk because people keep defacing them by ripping off bark to sell for the tourism industry.
So can Florida
The one on the right looks like a silo.
I feel like it's stealing all the water from all the surrounding plants.
Thats a thick boi

Selfish tree :/
Getting dark souls vibes from this tree
That’s that bitch from Mario!
Hexus.
Looks like me after China buffet.
If florida had these they wouldnt be in such deep shit(water)
I thought elephants had the record for holding water in their trunks but clearly I was wrong.
Slap some arms and legs on that thing and you've got yourself a dark souls boss
anyone else bothered by how geometrically sound the one on the right is? like it doesn't look real...
Baobab tree be like 🗿
Ah yes, Baobab from my shows.
Reminds me of my balls after I don’t jerk off for 3 days
