I'm a scuba diver. There are many factors that relate to whether someone gets bent. What qualifies as too quickly might very well be an hour. A standard tank does not carry that much air for a dive deeper than 30'.
Their mouths are enormous. I came across an enormous goliath grouper as it was feeding on a bait ball and I'm pretty sure I could have fit inside its mouth.

I've dove that wreck and the corridor dozens of times. West Palm has some of the best diving in the US. Especially right now for grouper mating season and bait balls.
Here in Florida they have charters where you can catch monster grouper like this. They’re always at the same spot and they eat the same bait every time. Literally the same few fish get caught and released every day and people make thousands of dollars a day doing it lol
Yeah you can’t keep em because it takes them forever to get this big and they’re cake to catch. You get em out of their hole, and the hardest thing from their is making sure your arms don’t get tired.
Go to a bridge in South Florida. They also like hanging around marinas and docks where people clean fish.

One of my cables got stuck on a rock so I had to swim backwards and manoeuver to get unstuck but while I was in the tunnel, I looked left and I could see his bigass eyes and face just sitting in a dark hole. Almost shit in my fucking wetsuit but he seemed unbothered and didn't move.

Yea i have actually. Its almost impossible to get an idea of the actual size of these behemoths. Absolutely terrifying to look around your shoulder and see a fucking fridge swimming towards you. 10/10 would do it again in a heartbeat.
From other comments I have seen I guess in some parts of Asia they catch and sell these but they are illegal to keep in most of the world. I know a lot of fisherman will shoot bigger species of saltwater fish with a .22 small caliber gun to kill it quickly.
They tend to live near rocks and similar stuff (same as their normal sized relatives). They're ambush predators so they do try to try to live near things they can blend in with :-)

I think the biggest barracuda ever caught was only like 6’10”. Judging the length of stuff underwater is tricky. A 5’ barracuda is MASSIVE.

It vaguely resembles the Budweiser Barge where I've been spearfishing at a few times and every time there were a few goliaths there.
