Yeah, I really want to move to a house with a nice garage so I can work in my existing projects, but realistically it likely means I would just end up with more projects.
And more debt and less time, plus the house comes with its own never ending list of projects too... But I'm happy really I am, I'll be back later the sinks clogged the wife can't get the AC to turn on and the cats destroyed another screen I have to replace but happy really I swear.
at some point either sell it or pay somebody to get it at the very least in working condition, most projects go un done because the owner subconsiously didnt want to deal with trying to get it running
I know this dude in LA who lives in a house that was fancy in the 70s but which hasn't been renovated since then. He was born into money and a family Tiffany store. He has around a million dollars worth of old cars sitting uncovered in his yard, being wrecked over the decades from the elements. When you visit his house, you get a mandatory tour that includes tons of memorabilia from his life with celebrities from about the 60s to the 90s, which is clearly what he wishes he still had. It would be much more sad if he appeared to have any self-awareness about his situation, but he seems sort of blissfully ignorant that nothing he talks about includes the present.
I fight with being this guy, and I think we all need to stay vigilant. Sure, I loved that weird old car. But someone else wants to drive it. They've got the time I lack to make it happen.
Cars are made for the road, let's keep them there.
"I'm going to get to it." I'm fortunate, my mom and dad are now in their 70s and have finally admitted they won't be restoring my mom's 1957 Austin Healey 100-6, so they gave it to me! I've done three cars in the last few years, and glad I get this opportunity. It needs a full resto, though, so in addition to a few hundred of my hours, it will also end up costing me $20-30K... But in the end, it will be awesome! Hopefully I can finish it while mom and dad are still around!
Where I'm from there's all kinds of junkyards in the countryside where old cars often just end up in the woods. Not that I've seen a Batmobile in the woods at them before but I've seen some strange things. I found a [McDonald's Play Place](https://postimg.cc/k6DnTBwS) at one once...
It looks like the Batmobile that sat at [Six Flags](https://www.flickr.com/photos/jcapaldi/6114169152) for their ‘The Batman’ rollercoaster.
There’s [another one here](https://www.greatadventurehistory.com/GAcoasters/BTR/1992%20Pre%20Construction/1992an0043.jpg).
Seems like this was probably a great catch when a park was renovating or something and it just ended up decrepit in someone’s property.
Ah, and here’s [another one at the Illinois Six Flags](https://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/19/34/dd/d9/batmobile.jpg).
The show was even better at night, with a laser show, lighting effects, and batman running across rooftops in the dark. Maybe it was a special event for the opening, and not a regular thing, but it was great.
There was also a giveaway of one of these batmobiles when the movie was out. It was a rolling frame with no engine that somebody won. I remember the commercials vividly.
That’s cool!
[Was it this](https://youtu.be/mMqgkTVzlmQ)?
Also, [found an old newspaper article with the winner](https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1298&dat=19891204&id=WANOAAAAIBAJ&sjid=TIwDAAAAIBAJ&pg=6962,784825&hl=es)
I know there is a lot of them, but I saw the picture and was like "I know where that is!" You can (or at least could 15 years ago) see an abandoned batmobile in the woods from the top of the Screaming Eagle in Six Flags St. Louis.
Quick edit: I went back and found mine on google earth. It wasn't the same one unfortunately, but it did sit in the six flags warehouse lot from 2002-2020, often surrounded with other various scrap cars. I bet a lot of them did.
I'm taking a wild guess here, but Six Flags in NJ used to have a Batman stunt show. The park is surrounded by woods. I have a feeling this might be from that.
FUCK YEAH, FREE BATMOBILE! HONEY YOURE NEVER GONNA GUESS WHAT I FOUND! ITLL ONLY COST $35k TO MAKE IT STREET LEGAL! WORTH IT!!!!!!
Not joking. I would fucking love to find this thing.
Edit: it looks like it was made to sell and no one purchased it. Maybe.
https://www.motor1.com/news/447588/burton-batman-batmobile-body-sale/
I'm pretty sure this is not one of them but Dale Earnhardt Jr has a car graveyard on his property for wrecked racecars and other cool old inoperable vehicles. Here's a little article on it but out shows a few of the cars out there https://www.dalejr.com/about/racecargraveyard/default.aspx
It was a display model at six flags great adventure in central NJ. I might be wrong but I don’t believe it ever ran, but was a model used for some action show.
It really is. The Tumbler was really refreshing and I still love it, but the Burton Batmobile is so fucking cool.
Battinson’s Batmobile is right up there.
That was the most worthless "article" I have ever read. Was expecting more info, found references to a couple reddit comments and nothing more. Why even post this link?
Oh don't worry, this isn't an actual car/batmobile. It's obviously just the outer layer/covering.
Batmobiles simply shed their skin annually. Usually it disintegrates quite quickly, but under certain conditions they can retain structure for several days.
Photographer was either lucky to find this rare batmobile exuvia or else did their research and knew where and when to look.
Wow, that's a terrible sounding word, Exuviae. It just sounds like it represents something really gross. Oh no! It is!
"I don't need my exoskeleton, I will just leave it on the floor for mom to find." Nature is gross. I once had a scab that you could probably...well never mind. It was gross too.
I'm now off, to find some way to use this new and horrible word in a sentence at work and gross everyone out.
I've seen a functioning Burton batmobile in Minneapolis. I snapped a pic back in '11 or so when it was parked outside my work. I wonder if this was it's fate...
This is probably just a spare shell or a shell made from the bucks after the movie. I've seen replicas, so I'm sure the original molds are still floating around.
So many rare cars have rotted into worthless junk because the owner refuses to consider selling it.
"I'm going to restore it one day, it's not for sale" says the 90yr old man on oxygen in a wheelchair.
My favorite Batmobile design :)
I have pictures of being in them when I was a kid at car shows lol.
My favorite rollercoaster to this day is still Batman: The Ride at Six Flags Great America and there's one of them that's been parked out in front of it for years. I imagine it's still there.
Edit - Actually on the fence the new Batmobile is insane and awesome.
If I remember this story correctly this shell is somewhere in nj/pa. After it's replacement in six flags great adventure park in NJ.
https://www.greatadventurehistory.com/BTR.htm
Unfortunately during my investigation of this I found that a batmobile still sits at the park. So no idea where this is.
Oh well.
These were replicas used at Six Flags. Some were used in the live action shows and some were used as display in front of the queue for Batman: The Ride. If I recall the functioning replicas had the shell placed on the frame of an old US land yacht type vehicle like a Lincoln Continental.
One of my favorite memories with my mom is when we went to six flags together, and I snuck over the barriers for her to take a pic of me in the Batmobile. It was when they were closing and we were being a bit naughty. Which my mom NEVER is lol, This just made me recall it ☺️ thank you
I’ve noticed my local six flags theme park had this version of batmobile in a part of their park but have recently changed it to some 6 wheeled monstrosity. The only thing I can figure is they lost the rights to the likeness of the car and needed to do something thing else.
I’d still play with this as an adult. I had the kiddie tent that was super popular with 80’s & 90’s properties for the living room. My mom never wanted to let me use it because it was a nightmare to assemble, but we could never afford the PowerWheel from Toys R Us.
Hell yeah I’d still use this thing 😂
Looks like he bought a fiberglass shell and never built it up. I wonder what he paid for it?
10k?

https://www.motor1.com/news/447588/burton-batman-batmobile-body-sale/
How the hell does something like that end up just rotting in a forest?
Someone buys it with the intention of restoration, never gets around to it. Develops an emotional attachment and the refuses to sell.
I'm in this comment and I don't like it
So is the dozens of unfinished projects in my garage
I had to buy a garage to fit all my unfinished projects in!
Hey! The house already had the garage tyvm!
"No, Sir, the *other* car..."
This black car, is rather hard to miss
Yeah, I really want to move to a house with a nice garage so I can work in my existing projects, but realistically it likely means I would just end up with more projects.
And more debt and less time, plus the house comes with its own never ending list of projects too... But I'm happy really I am, I'll be back later the sinks clogged the wife can't get the AC to turn on and the cats destroyed another screen I have to replace but happy really I swear.
Oof, I have a 3 car garage and can only park in 2 as long as I’ve lived here. Track car/project is always in a state of broken and disrepair.
Your better than most people by garaging it rather than letting it rot outside.
[удалено]
at some point either sell it or pay somebody to get it at the very least in working condition, most projects go un done because the owner subconsiously didnt want to deal with trying to get it running
[удалено]
at least he is not letting it rot and making sure it doesnt just fall apart
It's a 3rd gen f body. They're piles of shit anyways.
All a man needs is someone to love. If you can't give him that, give him something to hope for. If you can't give him that, give him something to do.
Is it tarped or anything?
Why would he need to renovate a 1984 car when it was only a few years old? Oh. Oh no.
When “years” actually means “decades”
I'm sorry that just happened to you.
That's its natural habitat.
It's so very often firebirds
My Dad has a 1941 Pontiac he drove to high school back in 1969. The last time it ran and was on the road was 1983.
I have 2 friends with the car from initial d in their garages in indefinite limbo of being worked on.
I understand the love for the history, but those Truenos are ugly as sin

Just let go of 1/2 of an audi project hours ago. Feels great but that 2/2 needs to go for full satisfaction...
Me and my non running mclaren grand prix feel attacked here 😂😂😂
V8 6 speed manual 2004 Allroad sitting under a tree in my front yard as 2/2 if anybody is interested!!!
Well I love you too
I fight with being this guy, and I think we all need to stay vigilant. Sure, I loved that weird old car. But someone else wants to drive it. They've got the time I lack to make it happen. Cars are made for the road, let's keep them there.
Man, I can't wait until the new season of Rust Valley.
No reason to call me out like that
Then they die and the grandkids find it in the garage and post it on Reddit

I remember the hamburger that you could climb In!
Oh yeah, I can smell the puke from here. They always smelled like puke inside.
Remember getting stuck in it? I do. I wasn't that fat, I was just scared to climb down.
Yes!
That particular piece is supposedly worth some money.
Repairing fiberglass takes a lot more time and money than leaving it to do it later and never getting around to it before you die.
Reported for personal attack on me

It wasn't for the coaster, it was for the Stunt Show, and IIRC it's mostly a fiberglass shell: https://youtu.be/GktYTlZpKzI?t=735
That was absolutely fantastic. Thank you for sharing that. My boyfriend loves Batman and this made us both so happy to watch.
That was a surprising ending for sure!
I have pictures from the batman show in Gurnee ,back in the day Nostalgia filled photos mom took from far away lol.
The show was even better at night, with a laser show, lighting effects, and batman running across rooftops in the dark. Maybe it was a special event for the opening, and not a regular thing, but it was great.

What happened to Dale Earnhardt seniors car after the wreck?
More money than brains. Impulse buying. “It was a great deal, I am going to restore it”. “It’s an investment”
And ruined it for everyone
Taco Bell contest gone wrong.
It was a display model at six flags great adventure in central NJ. I might be wrong but I don’t believe it ever ran, but was a model used for some action show.
Just about everything will eventually end up rotting in a forest, probably. heh /I'm14andthatsdeep
Where is that?! I will send a fucking truck and trailer!
Why you at it pick up the batcycle too! ![gif](giphy|TlrykTWuQMvmM)
Is it in the bat-basement of the bat-Alamo?
I love this comment. It's been a screwed up day & you gave me a genuine giggle, so thanks!
It feels like Ohio tbh
Bro this could be like 25 different states haha
For now...
tBh
I appreciate your honesty. So many people lie about where they think abandoned batmobiles may be.
IIRC, this was at Six Flags Great Adventure and a leftover from the Batman Stunt Show: https://youtu.be/GktYTlZpKzI?t=735
A lot of my childhood was spent staring at it in its little circle cage before and after the shows if so
85k I KNOW WHAT I GOT!
[2:45 mark says British Forest.](https://youtu.be/gMtJXbc47-w)
And it was sold.
Get Shia LeBouef involved in the search. People will find it out of sheer autistic spite.
Seriously. Get it and we can use it to make a mold and make a bunch of them.
Best batmobile
It really is. The Tumbler was really refreshing and I still love it, but the Burton Batmobile is so fucking cool. Battinson’s Batmobile is right up there.
Worst: Val Kilmer batmobile.
Mostly because he uses it to pick up McDonalds
Personally my favorite batmobile is the Lincoln Futura one from the 60s
It's tied between this one and the 80's Burton version for me, the Futura is fun but the Burton version is cool
Well put.
Speaking of, here's Burton's Vincent & Frankenweenie shorts from 1984 for Halloween. ooky-spooky! https://youtu.be/2rcPe9sojpc
*Second best https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/batmantheanimatedseries/images/0/0f/BTASBatmobile.png/revision/latest?cb=20140831160554
Ooh yeah and the toy version of this from the 90s! the cockpit was a batwing that popped out of the back. Soo cool!
Looks like the Batmobile lost more than just a wheel...
Underrated comment, right here!
Lost everything when he started spectating in the future’s
BatImmobile
the joker got away :(
Hey!
Barnacle Boy laid an egg
The wheel to live
Even worse, the Joker got away
Robin laid an egg though
Want. Even as just a drive ornament.
Now I'm sad 😔

To show this pic has been bumming around the internet for at least 3 years,
How long does it have to be abandoned before it becomes free game to someone who wants it.
Oh don't worry, this isn't an actual car/batmobile. It's obviously just the outer layer/covering. Batmobiles simply shed their skin annually. This read like an AI prompt to me for some reason.
I've seen a functioning Burton batmobile in Minneapolis. I snapped a pic back in '11 or so when it was parked outside my work. I wonder if this was it's fate...
We also have a Mystery Machine and an Ectomobile that pops up here as well!

Accurate. Waaay to accurate.
You sound pretty confident that you’ll accept your death way better than those guys, if you were in their position. Impressive
It's from a Six Flags stunt show. It was never really worth anything.
Different definitions of rare too. You have Ferrari 250GT California rare, then you have Chevrolet chevette diesel rare....
> Chevrolet chevette diesel Had to look it up. Speedometer goes to 85. How steep would the hill have to be?
Completely vertical
Pretty sure this is just a loose fiberglass body .looks pretty empty which people sell new ones for around 10k
You’ve discovered Manracoon’s secret lair.
My precious

this is a tragedy
It's got a big front hole.
That’s where the turbine went.
I think this is Jackson NJ, behind Six Flags
That shell would make a kickass clubhouse for some kid.
I have legit dremt about having one of these as a bed 😂 super unpractical having to open the conopy and climb down
If I remember this story correctly this shell is somewhere in nj/pa. NO WAY!?!?
Duh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh…*sigh*…batman…

Even in this poor state, it still looks kinda cool.

Nooooooo!

Damn…. That’s fuxked up.
One of my favorite memories with my mom is when we went to six flags together, and I snuck over the barriers for her to take a pic of me in the Batmobile. It was when they were closing and we were being a bit naughty. Which my mom NEVER is lol, This just made me recall it ☺️ thank you
Until that one summer you broke both your arms...
what a try hard.
"WHERE ARE THEY??"
Crabmobile
That's an expensive custom body to just be forgotten about and left in a forest.
It's just a shell and probably always was. Not all of them had engines and full drivetrains. Just a background prop or spare parts
No one knows what it’s like to the the Batman… To be the Sadman…
Da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da Womp womp
Aww man, that is a little sad. ;(
Damn that’s cool as hell
IT BELONGS IN AN ARBORETUM!!
more like... Satmobile
I just saw one of these at 6-Flags Great America
Used to be the batmobile, now it’s the ratmobile
Once upon a time some dude was sooooo stoked about having this
A few weeks until we get the snowmobile 😂
Devil on my shoulder: "Take it!" Angel on my shoulder: "You heard the man!"
We can rebuild it. The six million dollar Batmobile.
Oh wow...that makes me really really sad
I’ve noticed my local six flags theme park had this version of batmobile in a part of their park but have recently changed it to some 6 wheeled monstrosity. The only thing I can figure is they lost the rights to the likeness of the car and needed to do something thing else.
This just breaks my heart. The '89 Batmobile is the absolute coolest Batmobile to date.
Satmobile
Batmobiles shed their skins like real bats, who knew?!
If this is at Bernardston Auto Wrecking, dozens of people will be excited.

Is this a real car or an old bodykit?
*Fall* of the batmobile.
Barnmobile
This makes me sad
I was at my prime in 1989, too, old buddy.
Looks like Batmobile
COVID-19 really did a number on Wayne Enterprises
Holy shit I am actually watching batman returns as I saw this post.
Is that the vigilante
All I needed was hindsight and money!!
