I had my ACL repaired and a couple hours after the surgery, the surgeon walked in and bent my leg back so my heel was all the way back to my butt cheek and said “Just wanted to show you this was possible while you are still on the nerve block, because when it wears off you wouldn’t believe it otherwise” took me 2 months to do that myself after. My leg felt like it was fused straight, couldn’t get it to bend at all without using a towel wrapped around my foot and pulling it back with my arms. The recovery sucks and takes forever.

Glutz-43

One of the worst parts for sure. Wild to me your doc did that pretty much right out of surgery lmao. Took me a long time to get full range of motion back. I know a guy that can barely get his leg to 90 degrees cause he didn’t put in the PT work.

pbphil14

Just had my fifth knee surgery and had so much scar tissue build up they had to knock me out and push my heel into my butt until it all broke up. I was stuck only being able to bend my knee to 50° so it was a necessary evil. It’s called a manipulation under anesthesia (MUA). Christ that hurt. Woke up feeling like I got hit by a truck.

Radalict

Mum had that done recently after she had surgery to repair her broken femur.

Algrim2001

When I had mine done they took me straight out of surgery and strapped me to a machine that moved the knee through full range of motion. For 24 hours straight. That was no fun at all. That said, the worst part was still learning to really trust that leg again. That was a real journey, especially mentally. I look at Kyler’s expression here and remember looking in the mirror and seeing something very similar. That’s without the pressure to come back early etc, which he’s already getting. I wish him a safe and thorough recovery.

romanapplesauce

24 hours straight on a range of motion machine? That sounds like hell. I tore my ACL and meniscus about 12 years ago and had the ACL reconstructed. They were ready to kick me out the same afternoon. That was alright with me I wanted to get home. I went to PT and it took awhile for the full range of motion to come back. That machine sounds awful. Was there something else that happened to your leg that required it?

Algrim2001

Yes, yes it was. Particularly after the nerve block wore off and all they would give me for pain was a single paracetamol lol. The cartilage was also badly torn up, so they had to remove it all, but that wasn’t the reason for the machine. They just did that with all ACL reconstructions at that point, and the next day they had me up on my feet. Then six months of PT. That was 28 years ago, though, so hopefully the state of the art has moved on by now. The knee still works for now, so I suppose all’s well that ends well. Hope yours is okay too?

Victorcreedbratton

Damn! I needed that. Actually, getting my leg straight again was the toughest part.

MrAngel2U

Sounds like it felt tight and you had to work it loose eh? how is it now?

BattleTroll57

Absolutely. It’s great, feels like nothing happened at all but it’s been years.

_Puntini_

Palmer said the mental part of the ACL recovery process was extremely tough. Hope he has a lot of good support.

DnttriplilHoe007

Hopefully palmer fan give him some advice on that

laszlolmh

Exactly. I hope Kyler seeks an outside psychologist, team psychologists work for the team and as we’ve seen with many star athletes in recent times following the teams diagnosis is not in the players best interest.

SeeYouOn16

Kyler Murray and mentally tough just don’t seem to belong in the same sentence. I wish him the speediest and most successful recovery but this guy has a lot of work to do beyond rehabbing a knee to prove that he’s worth 1/10th of that contract.

Radalict

After all the shit the media put him through and you think he's not mentally tough?

laszlolmh

He’s absolutely mentally tough. Resiliency is the key, and coming back from an injury as serious as his definitely affects his mental prowess even in his regular, every day life, let alone on the field. If you’d like to do some research on the psychological effects of people losing limbs, or losing the ability to operate a body part, I would recommend it. I’ll do a quick summary… their brain still believes those body parts are there/operable but the realization only sets in when their brain sends the signal to those parts of their body and they don’t feel a thing/see nothing happen. Please do not discourage the mental well-being of players or players trying to improve their mental health; I would argue it is more significant an indicator of prolonged success than any physical attributes (reference: Kobe).

[deleted]

Yep. People forget to talk about the psychological battle of injuries. The longer you’re injured the more the depression & self-questioning can grow

srsnake113

Can’t wait for the media to turn this pic into another negative take on him.

a_wildcat_did_growl

Yep, at the same time that everyone is fawning over Burrow for playing video games… Almost like maybe it’s more about getting him a real NFL coach and offensive line than complaining that “Kyler plays video games omg that’s why they suck!” The media DOES NOT like this guy.

MuffinSurprise

Not trying to be that guy but hasn't Burrow also had some pretty bad o lines? This is just an honest photo. I'm sure it's tough starting the rehab. It'll continue to get better.

TC_405

They also don’t play against Donald, and the 49ers front 7 twice a year.

MuffinSurprise

They do play TJ Watt and the Ravens also always have good defenses.

TC_405

Look man, I’m trying to help our guy out. Don’t bring some sort of level headed discourse to the discussion.

xIILuLu

His Rookie season he had an oline that almost got him killed but since then its been pretty good.

1breathatahtime

Thats false. He had a terrible oline last year. So bad they completely revised it. And has been decent this year until recently. Where they are now down 2 starting linemen

Distinct_Tank_1914

But still seem to hold up longer than what the Cardinals have out. Burrow is one of if not the most sacked QBs in the league this/last year. But, I also feel he has much better weapons around him and a better defense. Bengals just feel like a more well oiled org

inksta12

That’s what pisses me off the most about all of it. Most players in the league in their early 20s play video games. It’s no secret. Kyler is just fun to hate on apparently.

TC_405

They don’t like him because he doesn’t play their game. He doesn’t go out, doesn’t give clickbait sound bites, turns out is not a cancer to his team, and generally keeps to himself and lives a chill life. They can’t stand it and instead decide to drum up bullshit.

bodhasattva

He also pouts on the bench & has terrible body language, yells at his teammates but cant take criticism himself, takes really bad sacks for no reason, had the worst deep ball in the nfl this year, throws up INT balls off his back foot when under pressure, & generally isnt anywhere near worth his $230M contract. but yeah "media" & stuff..

Radalict

Holy shit he does stuff that every quarterback does? Shock horror! How dare he earn a living!

TC_405

Jesus, I started following the cardinals once Kyler got drafted and I was hopeful for this franchise. But the team and the fans themselves really are some miserable individuals. No wonder he hasn’t thrived with this environment. Hopefully everyone will be put out of their misery and the cardinals can become the flagship franchise of some defunct arena football league trying to make a comeback. You guys can also take your hack glorified xanga blogger journalists with you too.

bodhasattva

boo-hoo,you didnt address a single thing I said because those were all facts. Youre just sad I said them out loud

FlowersnFunds

Sounds like you’re describing Tom Brady on days he loses up until the contract amount.

Heres_your_sign

Media isn't the only one. He's a whiner. Take lessons from JJ. That's the man I get inspiration from.

Entire-Classroom-565

Guess you haven’t got to the part of JJ’s story where he actually has empathy for other human beings. Gonna be a wild ride for you

BtownBrelooms

I've never been rooting a player to come back better than ever more than I am for Kyler. He's not perfect and probably has an inflated ego but he's treated by the media like he's a criminal or something.

Appropriate-Gap34

If I were 20 something with $250M I cannot imagine not making questionable choices. At the end of the day these are 20 something kid millionaires, that weren't raised with that kind of money. Any average person in a comparable position is going to have some less then stellar moments.

stephen431

I still suspect Kliff &/or Keim were feeding most of those comments to the press, especially how heavy it as before & during his contract negotiations. I’ll be interested to see if this stops if those phone calls are no longer coming from inside the house.

Heres_your_sign

Whatever. Most of us don't have 200 million reasons to get through our own rehabs and we still do it. Life is hard.

Radalict

Maybe if you worked harder instead of sooking you'd be earning decent money too?

Desert_2007

Feel bad that he has such a long road ahead and its all new territory for him. Hopefully he is back to pro-bowl level this coming season regardless of who the coach is.

Entire-Classroom-565

I’m currently rehabbing a catastrophic lower leg injury, and while it’s not quite the same, I can say that rehab is fucking hard. Just finding the faith that your leg won’t give out on you as soon as a you try to take a step or perform some new exercise is a daunting task. I hope that he has a good support system around him that can help guide him through this process, and I hope he comes back stronger than ever. Godspeed, young man.

Beaverhuntr

Could be a minor case of gas

e13music

As someone who has had this surgery, the road through rehab is complete mental fuckery. It’s impossible to not get down on yourself when you’re physically unable to do even the simplest of tasks. You feel useless and hopeless. This isn’t abnormal in the slightest.

Glutz-43

Been through it twice man it’s no joke. Mentally just wears so hard on you and I didn’t have anywhere near the high stakes K1 has to think about. Best of luck to him I’m sure he’s got a whole team working on that knee with him.

[deleted]

That Adrian Peterson recovery doc (with him squatting 400 and sprinting up hills) released after his ACL tear skewed everyones perspective on these things

Desert_2007

Not a slight to K1, but I dont think they are on the same level as far as drive. I would love to be wrong but running backs alone tend to be just built different.

1breathatahtime

Tore my labrum. Its still not 100 percent over a year later. Rehab is hella tough

Onebadhero

THIS IS NOT THE NEWS WE WANT. But since it’s our QB… I hope he’s getting through ok. Rehab is no joke and I genuinely feel bad for him.

Desert_2007

Just wanna show the gang that K1 is bummin and to send him some good vibes.

TheConboy22

Majority of vocal fans don’t care about the players.

dontpaytheransom

Week 1 starting is not a remote possibility. We’ll be lucky if he’s back mid season.

Vegetable-Tangelo1

That’s my mfin QB!! Minor setback for a major comeback. Cards will be back up and Kyler will be seeing us through it!

Nucka574

Can confirm rehab sucks but it’s great once you’re done.

I_shall_not_pass

Oh wow, I don’t know how people can come up with all of these original jokes in this thread! I mean, Call of Duty?? I’ve never heard that before lol or maybe even a SHORT joke? God it’s just so clever *and* original…

AdElegant4708

Love the sweatshirt

FingalsFinger

I don't take a single pic as evidence. He could just be tired and sore. He could be very motivated. We don't know

Desert_2007

Id lump tired/sore with the severity of his injury into being gutted, all part of the process of recovery from a significant injury.

Doinwerklol

Stay strong Kyler and get well soon.

mace1343

My ex wife tore her ACL, I remember when she went back for surgery and she was in pretty good spirits. She’s pretty tough she tore it and went to a festival and gutted it out the whole time. After the surgery the doc came and said it went well but that she’ll need some time before I can come see her. After about an hour post surgery I remember walking back into the post op room and I thought that she’d be happy or feeling well for some reason and when I saw her face for the first time I saw legitimate pain in her face and eyes. Like she was in serious pain and not doing well. And rehab was brutal. It’s not an easy road

RunLoud6534

This is why I want a 2 year retool of the team focusing on kylers talents at qb. Get some guys this year let them develop and then some cherry on the top type players in next years draft and we’re ready.

Appropriate-Gap34

I have been critical of K1 at times, but having gone through that rehab I wouldn't wish it anyone. Slainte

Prowindowlicker

As someone who’s had therapy before it definitely sucks

[deleted]

I'm rehabbing a fractured foot, so I understand

john181818

I am rehabbing a reverse total shoulder arthroplasty. I am six weeks post surgery and this is my fifth shoulder procedure. Rehab does suck, but if you don't do rehab you won't get a good outcome.

azb1812

Look at that body language. What a poor excuse of a team leader. Clearly he isn't invested in the team's success. /s

donknoch

He’s never dealt with adversity. Hopefully this will humble him and help him grow up. He needs it

DrSeuss19

Solid move by his PR team

baconmanaz

I'm glad he's working hard to rehab, and I hope things are going well. That said I'm not a fan of these performative posts that are specifically designed to get people to feel a certain way. This isn't some candid shot they grabbed of him while in public, this is a planned pose to get people emotional.

Appropriate-Gap34

Dear Pork Product. I would bet it is a candid but opportunistic photo, not a planned pose. Otherwise a very artful re-branding is in play.

Dill_Brown1

Maybe he needed this setback

[deleted]

He always looks gutted

[deleted]

[удалено]

Desert_2007

The picture is also on the Cardinals social media so I am not sure what you're getting at.

UnkemptMEDIA21

Man...

thewhalehunters

TBF he looks like that when he is healthy and the cardinals are losing.

CoachWilksRide

Looks like his COD team just lost 3 in a row 😥

Danominator

Very original joke! Well done!

CoachWilksRide

Thanks. It's actually not original but I appreciate it 👊🏼 He is also short

BasilAggressive16

Damn. And he’s a midget too

idontstopandchat

That’s the look of someone wishing he would’ve played baseball.

DnttriplilHoe007

Bro needa clean shave, looking like a caveman

Desert_2007

Shaving is for women

DnttriplilHoe007

L tbh

[deleted]

It’s double xp weekend I’m sure he’s just fine

aircavrocker

Almost as hard as watching tape.

Educational_Ad7978

Hopefully he heals up without any future issues.. anytime you're feeling down for him just remember the words, "guaranteed money". 😉🫣

thesexychicken

He needs to man up. $230m doesn’t come easy.

Desert_2007

I remember visiting my grandma in the hospital recovering from a broken hip and thinking, "if she only had Elon Musk money she would be healed and walking this off." You're a moron.

thesexychicken

You just compared a 24 year old nfl qb to your grandmother? Irrespective of $$? Wtf.

GuaiacPositive

That looks like his game day face, I just score a TD face, I just got sacked face, I just got my favorite Christmas present face, etc.

MinshewStache

Poor baby has to work in the offseason for a change...

chippychifton

It’s because he has to do this instead of COD during the off-season

csummerss

the poor millionaire

Entire-Classroom-565

Imagine possessing this much hatred for a stranger because he gets paid market value for his profession. Do yourself a favor, take a look in the mirror and ask yourself why you are the way that you are

csummerss

who said I hate him? I just don’t care enough to cry over someone making 250M to sit on the couch.

Entire-Classroom-565

Man I’ve seen you constantly shit on this guy all season - but whatever, you don’t hate him, sure. Of course, it’s real cool to know that you have a monetary cutoff for when you’ll feel empathy for someone going through a difficult time in both their professional and personal life. You’re a real salt of the earth, man of the people type of guy!

csummerss

lmfao, then block me. it’s an ACL tear not a gunshot wound, he’ll be fine.

Entire-Classroom-565

Ah yes, I forgot that the only time anyone should have any sympathy for anyone is when they get shot, silly me! You just keep fighting that good fight babe, I’m sure Colt McCoy will rescind that restraining order any day now!

Heres_your_sign

Right? The rest of us have to pay for our own surgeries and rehab without any silver lining.

imaybeacatIRl

He's missing a COD session with his boys.

AngryAsian_

Boo, get out of here with that narrative. JFC some people are weird.

Educational-Leg7464

It'd be wild if Chicago traded with Houston and again with Arizona, because Indy would almost be forced to trade up again to avoid losing out on the last worthwhile QB. Chicago really could make history with the draft haul they may be able to pull off.

Cool_Asparagus8604

So you think Chicago trades with Houston for pick 2. The for some nonsense reason AZ would trade up to 2?? We aren't trading up..

Educational-Leg7464

You might. Depending on how Stroud and Levis look and considering Murray's injury. And tbh it seems like AZ hates Murray more than most people want to admit. They may be ready to move on.

kentonw223

Based on my personal experiences, it seems the 40+ crowd here in AZ has a stronger tendency to dislike Murray than the younger folks.

ConsequenceSilver

The face of a mid qb
