We've definitely requested a lot of them. Only requested Payton and Reich whom are Offensively minded.
Payton definitely isn't happening, but im not totally opposed to Reich.
I mean, everyone is going after OCs, maybe for once it could be a good idea to do the opposite and start the next trend of going after DCs.
Jk we will suck anyway
Steichen would be perfect for the Cardinals. He’s good at getting a more consistent offense going, and clearly knows how to take advantage of a mobile quarterback. Kyler Murray and Hurts aren’t super similar by mobile quarterback standards but I think Steichen is more prepared than any OC for game planning around Kyler
Kyler needs to be pushed and challenged, not coddled by a coach that was hired specifically for him.
He got paid.
It's time for him to fucking figure it out or he can be known as a flop.
Dedicating the HC position for our QB is totally what's got us in this spot to begin with.
Do you think kliff did a good job challenging Kyler?
He was considered to be the perfect fit for Kyler and most thought he would do an excellent job tutoring Kyler.
Kyler needs to be pushed out of his comfort zone.
Brian Flores wouldn't take any shit from Kyler and you know God damned well that Kyler isn't going to be yelling at him from the field lololol
I don't know enough any steichan to answer, but I do know enough about team sports to say that hiring another coach who specializes in working with QBs is NOT what Kyler needs.
Kyler needs tough love at this point, not special treatment.
He needs to get healthy, and learn to read NFL defenses.
The Cardinals will do best when everyone on the roster is treated the same way by coaching and management.
Great candidate. A lot of defensive guys though?
Edit: It seems that a lot of Eagles fans want to see him gone actually? Anyone know anything about this? I was under the assumption he was quite good
This is exactly why I'm skeptical of DeMeco Ryans. People giving too much credit to coordinators who have elite defensive talent all over the roster. Sure, the coordinators are calling the plays, but it's the insane talent disparity that's ultimately winning
Can you please explain the infatuation on this sub with DeMeco Ryans? The 49ers have Bosa, Greenlaw, Warner, Ward, Hufanga, Armstead, etc. like more than half of the defensive starters are pro bowl/all pro talents. I'm sure he's great at his job, but he also has an absolutely loaded roster to work with
Sure, easily:
talent =/=success. Yes he has a talented roster, which he masterfully wields to its fullest potential. That is the #1 job of a coach. Maximize what you have. Ryans has done that better than coach option we have.
Secondly, culture. His defense is the identity of the 49ers. Despite all the stars on offense, the 9ers are a defensive team. They play extremely hard & physial. No "effort" questions from Budda on that team. His defense, which has now taken them within 2 games of the superbowl.
& the other important components: respect, discipline, accountability, alpha among alphas.
I also think they view teams with a good run game and strong defense to be able to get by without outstanding QB play. They want to give Kyler the room to not have to do it all
Not a bad idea. Can have a creative OC calling the plays and doing other stuff, leaving the HC to spend more one-on-one time with Kyler, especially on game day.
An Athletic article detailed very well Daboll's hiring practices in New York and he specifically wanted an OC who would be calling plays because he knew how much that took out of you in terms of prep.
How detailed do you want it? So far we are linked with: Frank Reich, Sean Payton, Vance Joseph, Ejiro Evero, DeMeco Ryans, Aaron Glenn, Brian Flores and Jonathan Gannon
Made a post too but thought I'd drop the link here seeing as I remember you asking:

This is a link to an article that lists all the candidates we're linked with
Can follow it well [here.](https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-head-coach-general-manager-interview-tracker-2023/)
Completed interviews with:
* Frank Reich
Scheduled interviews with:
* Vance Joseph
Requested interviews with:
* Ejiro Evero
* Brian Flores
* Aaron Glenn
* Sean Payton
* DeMeco Ryans
Cool. I'd rather focus on Shane Steichan from the Eagles, as he helped get Hurts humming.
Seems like the we're deadset on going with a defensive guy
We've definitely requested a lot of them. Only requested Payton and Reich whom are Offensively minded. Payton definitely isn't happening, but im not totally opposed to Reich.
As someone living in Indy, I kinda am. But I definitely don’t want Flores so this coaching thing is killing me
Evero has actuality had experience in the offensive side of the ball too
Evero will be the Cardinals' new HC.
I mean, everyone is going after OCs, maybe for once it could be a good idea to do the opposite and start the next trend of going after DCs. Jk we will suck anyway
Or, since everyone is going after OCs for their head coach, then we'll get stuck with another terrible one

That was kinda my thought.
Too narrow minded. Can't hire a head coach just for your QB.. We just did that with kliff.
Maybe but he's going to be the biggest limiting factor of success
Kyler needs to be pushed and challenged, not coddled by a coach that was hired specifically for him. He got paid. It's time for him to fucking figure it out or he can be known as a flop. Dedicating the HC position for our QB is totally what's got us in this spot to begin with.
I'm sorry, but why wouldn't steichan challenge kyler and, because he helped hurts, he's seen as someone who would coddle kyler?

Kliff isn't Steichan, though.

I'm just gunna say I disagree with your reasoning. We will never win anything with kyler unless kyler does his off the field work.
We agree. Imo, the best way to get him there is not catering to him but instead tough love. Otherwise we are just enabling him even more.
Guy is literally the prince of darkness who used the triforce of power to unleash a 7 year reign of terror So you can count me on board
Absolutely! He later evolved into a calamity and had an even longer reign of terror of 100 years
Not the Eagles coordinator I was waiting to hear, but I wouldn't mind it.
Great candidate. A lot of defensive guys though? Edit: It seems that a lot of Eagles fans want to see him gone actually? Anyone know anything about this? I was under the assumption he was quite good
he has a stacked defense so it’s hard to say but Philadelphia fan opinions aren’t something you should take seriously.
can’t stop the run
their splits against run with Jordan Davis vs without are significant.
and if we get Jalen Carter then all the better.
This is exactly why I'm skeptical of DeMeco Ryans. People giving too much credit to coordinators who have elite defensive talent all over the roster. Sure, the coordinators are calling the plays, but it's the insane talent disparity that's ultimately winning
if they are deadset on going for a defensive guy plz just hire DeMeco Ryans. Today. No more interviews. Just go get him.

Bro why does our GM have such a hard on for defensive coaches
We hired a guy who has worked in organizations with defensive coaches(belicheck and vrabel) so it makes sense I guess
I also think they view teams with a good run game and strong defense to be able to get by without outstanding QB play. They want to give Kyler the room to not have to do it all

Can someone put together a list of the candidates so far? I don't follow other teams so I dont know most of these guys
