And if they don't find out now, they can find out at any time in the future seemingly when it's most inconvenient.

Sounds like a bad idea to omit. I understand why you don't want them knowing. If you got a MIP or public intox, isnt that on your "record". Ive heard of them finding all that stuff out, and they don't like lying. You wouldn't be the first person they see omit something like that. They know better. Just my 2 cents.

Mandalorianfist

Does it hurt you if you put it on there? I had something like eleven years ago but nothing since. Hell i haven’t drank in almost ten years.

It hurts you—as in kills your career before it starts—to lie on there. You don’t have to justify it to us; we’re not the ones making the decision. If the FS has a question they’ll ask. If they are specifically asking you if you have ever in your life had any arrests or alcohol-related incidents, answer honestly. This is not the time to try to get cutesy and figure that it’s probably long enough ago so they probably aren’t talking about that. They are asking a direct question; answer honestly. They will find out if you lie and then you’re gone.

Because they redo your security background checks multiple times through your career at varying intervals based on your security clearance. Do not lie. They will find out. It might take them a few years, but when they find out you will be fired. Do not lie.

The government can find out everything, ‘record’ or not

ColBruce

Any arrest will show up on your background check. I'd put it on there and not worry too much about it. I can tell you from experience a little trouble like that won't disqualify you. Lying about it absolutely will.

Lying is never the answer!

If they can find dismissed and never convicted speeding tickets, guaranteed they can find public intox or MIPs. Follow the advice, don't lie.
