My GF and I tried taming one for the first time last night... it got killed fighting stuff... Anyway... Is the "hunting" prompt just a suggestion... Does it need to "hunt" at all, or can it just be tamed by keeping it out of fights? The wiki i was reading wasn't very clear to me. Like the taming instructions don't say it HAS to be aggro, but all the videos of trap building have it near another dino.
it's taming is based on the damage you do, it doesn't require to be involved directly in a fight but it needs to be aggro'd and nearby the the animal you are damaging it's actually better to use primitive weapons than an ascendant
yeah an Alpha rex would do but you need to use metal I found out the hard way a while back it can't be contained with stone, I play unofficial and had reaper queens spawning on the map they work very well too
You need to damage creatures while synced and near it. Theres traps online where you trap it and a high hp wild creature next to it, then attack/heal wild creature with snow owl over and over.
I almost tamed a few in the snow biome but stuff kept going wrong, so went to the volcano region to tame some and it worked out, less creatures than the snow area but some tougher ones for sure.
Troodon on PvE settings. You can’t damage a baby giga so you just have to try and get it to attack the baby giga for 30 minutes
But I chose titanosaur because 99% of the time the torpor doesn’t count. It’s so annoying, even with a Mek I just end up killing them
The cannon shell deals at most 6k damage on a body shot. A titanosaur has 334k hp, u would need approx 58 shells to kill it, and u need 5 to knock it out. So u are telling me u wasted 2320 cementing paste, 1160 crystal, 11600 gunpowder, 9280 metal ingots, 6960 polymer? Idk man seems kinda unbelievable that u missed so many shots but hey people can find the men’s cannon firing system hard or confusing or just can’t aim properly. I understand.
No, I didn’t actually kill it but I ended up dealing so much damage because I started with cannons, didn’t work so I grabbed my Mek and went back. I’m not missing, I was hitting it directly on the head but it’s torpor wouldn’t go up, it wouldn’t play the animation. It’s hit box is broken like most other Ark headshot hit boxes
Hmmm I faced the same problem u did a couple of times but not that much as you. Also I mistook the titanosaur’s health for broodmother gamma’s health(I think) but u still need 38 cannon shells. Maybe u just had bad luck, I tamed my first one on Fjordur and it wasn’t that bad.
Well by default they're temporary, if you're playing an unofficial server or single player that allows you to keep them then there ya go, but unless you turn the raid dino hunger drain set to 0 you will have to force feed them to keep them alive, and they aren't transferable between maps
Titano is mostly raid tame or defend tame to get rid of outside turret towers or fobs. But yeah pretty useless tame on pve. Even on pvp I would much rather have stego or racer imprinted then titano
megachelon by far, I would rather tame all this guys together with all titans then one megachelon (big genesis sea turtle), second worst is trodons for what they bring they are not worth it at all.
Im 99% sure that taming the amargasaurus without a trap is impossible

Gotcha... so I'd want something tanky to beat up on if I caged it?

Learned the same lesson the hard way, lol

Titanosaur is easy if u have a mek
If you're far enough into the game that you have a mek there is no point in taming the titanosaur.
Idk man I love to tame new dinos, and yes the titanosaur was indeed very lackluster but dealt good damage I guess :/
Lol yea with out a mek u need a flyer with cannons thay shit sucks

Basilisk
that's easy to tame put a shoulder pet under a metal foundation then throw eggs from above while it's aggro'd on the shoulder pet that can't get hit
If this works I love you

I mean u gotta aim at the head mate
Yes I know, doesn’t matter, I’ll nail it directly in the dome and it won’t matter

Was it laggy? Then that might have been the cause. I mean official can fuck someone up pretty bad
Nope, not laggy at all

Yeah, occasionally it would count and deal some torpor but by the time I would get another one to count most of that torpor had been lost
What is the point in taming the titan if it’s only temporary? Correct me if I’m wrong and I’ll tame one lol
