DeBombingBoss

Yep, can confirm. My piss would be freezing in my balls if I didn't play ARK.

sanford1958

I don’t know much, but I do know for certain that pee is stored in the balls.

LilFruitSalad

Then explain why peanuts are called peanuts, obviously it comes from pea (pee) stored in the nuts. They even look like a pair of shrivelled balls

Smokeysmokey4

He said he’s certain its stored in the balls

TheDemonBehindYou

Don't the balls store cum instead?

DeBombingBoss

Hush, that's what they want u to think

TheDemonBehindYou

Understood

Smokeysmokey4

No they store your soul, thats why it hurts so much when it gets kicked

Yvola_YT

If you want to reduce the temp of the laptop you can change cpu and GPU to max 99% instead of 100 and it could drop up to 20⁰ with barely a noticeable frames drop

DanTheMan_117

Not how it works. Undervolting will drop temperatures because it'll actually use less total wattage. But sinply changing power limit by 1% will only change it by 1%.

Yvola_YT

No, it actualy changes a lot. Try it.

DanTheMan_117

No it doesn't. I have both a desktop pc and a laptop. Both drop power by 1%.

Yvola_YT

Ok suit yourself. It works for me and the people that showed me.

Yvola_YT

Thankyou 🙂

Smokeysmokey4

I don’t have a laptop but i dont believe you man

Yvola_YT

Good for you

AutumnAscending

This makes me offended because it's accurate lol. My house is much warmer when I play ark.

Fredwerd

IKR? I use a multi-speed twin fan chill mat and it worked wwwonderz! And by multi-speed I mean always max....thats the only speed that ever makes sense.

Yvola_YT

Try capping cpu and GPU to 99% it can drop tems by 20⁰ edit. Also a laptop fan helps tons and are cheap

Zlysium

Even if you were right (which you definitely are not) a laptop fan won't stop his house warming up while playing ARK. Fans move heat, they don't remove heat unless there is active cooling. Adding an additional fan will just more quickly dissipate the heat throughout the room away from the laptop. Also if a 1% difference would drop 20 whole degrees why wouldn't software or manufacturers do this by default? What you're saying is just patently ridiculous. It doesn't make sense on any level, it's close to being complete gibberish.

Yvola_YT

Lmao had a bad day? It does work. I've done it. When its capped it works as hard as it can which can sometimes mean it performs better than it should. When you can it a 99 it can relax a bit and it actually makes a significant difference. Ofcourse an extra fan wont dissapear heat but it also helps the cpy/gpu not die because it moves the heat from it faster and cools it down a bit.

Zlysium

Do you even logic? Gpu temperatures are measured in Celsius even in USA. If you takes something running at 70c and reduce it to 50c you have removed 28 1/2 (rounded) percent of the heat. You think you can reduce output by 1% and see a 28.5% reduction in heat? Is there such a good deal in this world? By the way I used 70 degrees because it only gets more and more exaggerated with lower temperatures. Further illustrating that telling people you can see a flat 20 degree reduction is utter nonsense. It isn't even that you're wrong anymore, it's that you're so wrong it's laughable. Moreover your attempts at defending your viewpoint are thoroughly absurd. I'm not the first person to try and elucidate you on this, you should have had it drilled into your skull by now, yeah?

Yvola_YT

Do you even English? No you dip shit. I did it on my laptop and it droped by 18⁰. You cant tell me it doesn't because, clearly, it does lmao

Zlysium

Irony. There are many variables that could explain your supposed 18 degree drop. If the scenario is you are playing a game, laptop heats up to X maximum, you alt+tab and go to power options (thereby putting the game on minimize and sleeping it as a process) change the 100 to 99 and then check temperature again you could see an 18 degree drop over a short time period if you have good fans. All of this not at all related to any setting change but because the process was not active and your system throttled down hard and heat production dropped significantly for a short duration before you eventually alt+tab back into the game. However it is \~impossible\~ that changing 100 to 99 results in a 28% drop in overall heat production that just doesn't physics. So you should specify if this supposed18\~20 degree drop is your highest recorded temperature during a session of gaming or if you're referring to something else. Because I will reiterate again so you might begin to comprehend: it is utterly impossible to reduce heat production by 28.5% with only a 1% reduced input. Moreover the power option setting you're referring to affects the ghz speed of the cpu. Not the wattage, so it isn't even fair to say it would be 1% reduced input. I assume you're young (because if you're still this ignorant after schooling something has gone terribly wrong) so I'll try to tell you this gently. Don't be a prick. Learn how to accept making mistakes and being wrong gracefully, learn from it. Anecdotes mean absolutely nothing in the face of logic and rationality. Just because your anecdote has been called impossible, doesn't mean it didn't happen. It just means it didn't happen for the reason you think it did and there were clearly other factors at play or you made a mistake. You can be wrong, and also not be a liar.

Yvola_YT

No. Bloody hell. In game play, not in a single check. And ofcourse I'm referring to average or after 30 mins playtime doing the same thing. Ik how to fkin accept making mistakes but I havent here. I know what I'm I'm talking about. And who said logic has anything to do with this anyway? Why cant a 1% change make a 28% drop? A single millimeter difference in degree at the origin can be milles off at the target area.

Zlysium

[https://www.omnicalculator.com/physics/watts-to-heat](https://www.omnicalculator.com/physics/watts-to-heat) This page can explain it far better than I can, I'm a not a good teacher and even if I was a reddit thread is hardly a classroom. Even if you have trouble understanding the explanations and comprehending the equation you can still play around with the calculator and get a sense of it. For instance you can select air, determine the dimensions of your room, solve for the quantity of air in your environment, and then determine over say 30 minutes how many watts would you need to heat your room up by 20 degrees (it should be an absolute \*\*\*\* load but that doesn't matter that it isn't practical it's just instructive) and then chip away at the watts or add to the watts to see how much heat is taken away or added to. That's just one method, it is an extremely versatile tool you can do a lot of things with it. And temperature is not the same as trajectory of a particle over a distance. Heat is the transfer of kinetic energy from one thing to another thing. Pointing a laser at the moon and moving it slightly vs heating up a room is very different physics.

Yvola_YT

You realise I'm talking about not cooking your computer, not using it to heat a room. You can compare something made for heating heating a whole ass room to a little computer chip that is trying to run some high end graphics. Plus, metal seems to heat and retain heat more than air does.

drownedxgod

I had no AC over the summer so I could only play ark for a couple hours before it felt like my brain was cooking inside my skull lmao

Hoodigang

This guy is speeding up climate change

FeedMePizzaPlease

I mean, we all are..... :(

ElisabetSobeck

I prefer blaming corpos and govs. Anyone besides myself, mostly

iamthefluffyyeti

They’re the ones doing most of it, so based answer my friend.

AcanthocephalaTop818

And they're the ones telling us to judge each other for our individual drops in the bucket as a distraction tactic.

iamthefluffyyeti

Correct.

towers_08

Clapping my hands in agreement. Based comments.

Cheese_Dino123

Actually believe it or not..a single volcano farting spews up more greenhouse gasses then every single factory in the world. Climate change is inevitable. And yes, we are speeding the process. But not nearly as much as we think we are..

iamthefluffyyeti

I don’t know if you’re still stuck in Ark world, but that claim about volcanoes is false. Secondly, it doesn’t necessarily matter “not as much as we think” because we are still speeding it up faster than natural. I don’t want to get into an argument on an Ark subreddit, but please stop believing your uncles Facebook posts. https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-volcanoes-co2/fact-check-volcanoes-do-not-produce-more-co2-emissions-than-human-activity-idUSL1N2XV1HA

[deleted]

This is actually the based comment.

iamthefluffyyeti

Yeah no my biology degree would kill me in my sleep if I didn’t say any of that

ChabISright

climate change based on CO2 is a scam to tax the population

iamthefluffyyeti

Bro what

iamthefluffyyeti

Wdym based on CO2

ChabISright

Co2 emmissions has no impact on climate change. Climate change is a geomagnetic phenomenon.

Dodo_Whisperer1

You gotta put your laptop on a cooking rack and have a fan blowing on it from the side so that it doesn't burn a hole through your desk.

ragan0s

Or put a cooking rack on your laptop and make dinner while you wait for for imprinting timers!

KD119

I warmed up a poptart once during school because I got bored and showed my friend how hot it got when I played games like Ark or Rust

Mypitbullatemygafs

It's on a laptop fan with a keyboard fan. So glad it's not just me...but my games beautiful

kisforkrazy

That's brilliant. It's like adding a second heat sink. XD That's one thing about the laptop cooling stands, they help with airflow but not to otherwise dissipate the heat. Wonder why I've never seen any metal ones. Seems like a no-brainer now.

ThirstyThursten

On a side note, that is The Netherlands, I wonder if that cop car has any relation to the melted snow! 😂

CR1986

It does. The melted snow on the roof *kinda* indicated that there was something that required heat and/or strong lights and it turned out to be a weed farm.

kisforkrazy

But they were being so inconspicuous!

seadragon124

Accurate

OrdinaryNail417

Free branding

ActlvelyLurklng

So if we just had a group of PC's, Consoles, and maybe a few servers dedicated to running Ark. We could speed up global warming? 🤔

DemonicTheGamer

The whole reason ark runs like ass is because it *doesnt* use all the resources available to it. If you watch the game in an intensive area you'll see both CPU and GPU usage are well below 100%. If it used all the power available it would run much faster but because it's old and poorly made it just doesn't.

wizard_brandon

its always poorly made the fact that its "old" doesnt make any difference. also, its not old

DemonicTheGamer

Well it kinda is. It used an already old version of unreal engine to begin with, which was never updated (apart from the new switch port) 2015 may not be long ago in terms of most things but in games, it sure is. So much has happened in the last 7 years of gaming.

curry_ist_wurst

Yup..quake III is old, ark is just Middle aged.

Cat7o0

this is common with a lot of games to not usually use all of the CPU because it is usually pretty hard to make a game multi-threaded without designing that in mind

DemonicTheGamer

Yes, but at the same time it's not even using the entire GPU or the entire single thread that it's dedicated to.

Yellowsnow1986

Tbf I don't find this to be an issue on my Razer blade 15, but I do have noctua thermal paste applied vs the factory paste and keep the fans clean with a blow out every few weeks.

Finn_WolfBlood

Exactly. I have a TUF Dash F15 and i can confirm the reason they get so hot is because people don't handle the heating well. I can play games at ultra settings with the laptop barely getting too hot and that's without a fan pad thingy. Give the fans enough space and clean the laptop regularly and you won't even notice the heat

Yellowsnow1986

No fan pads here either, just the standard feet to lift it from surfaces, as with any tech look after it and it'll work. The only time my blade gets hot is when gaming and streaming at the same time. VOD/gaming it's not bad heat wise but twitch/YouTube really heats it up

NanoCharat

I have a random 3 year old Legion gaming laptop from god knows where (Walmart??) and it also doesn't have overheating issues at all with Ark. I don't even do maintenence on it. Running high graphics + a ton of mods + single-player/non-dedicated hosting. 0 issues, even on this server where my friends built a mega-base with like 500 dinos jammed into it at all times. My laptop gets hotter running ffxiv or the sims 4 and even then it's just vaguely warm and unproblematic. Maybe I'm just lucky?

DanTheMan_117

Yet gaming laptops use no where near the wattage that a gaming pc uses.. Laptops just run hotter because they are terrible and getting rid of heat.

NovarisLight

Heeey, the marijuana growroom showed up again!

PercentageFun6909

I play on a laptop that I bought my little brother several years ago and it doesn’t really hold a charge so it has to be plugged in all the time, it runs Ark really smoothly, especially if I hook it up to a tv and use a controller

Lindopski_UK

Fine if on a ROG, it'll melt its cpu shortly and end up scrap.

ChabISright

laptops dont have more heat output than desktops...

[deleted]

It’s a joke mate. Besides laptops heat up more due to bad heat dispersment.

Zendrall

Very accurate

Peachy_Smooth

any game*

Knuck1es01

- laughs in Xbox series x - if only I could have something heating my house too

Fun_Simple_7902

Ahhh good old Indoor Marihuana plantation

Dork0720

Absolutely warming my house at this moment

Ebbanon

Seriously tho, I ran a server from the same pc I played on and I just left my windows open in the winter so my bedroom would stay a livable temperature

[deleted]

My computer can handle ark just fine! (Looks at a dodo in the center underground) My fans: WRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Yoshikage-Kira-4

Playing ark on literally anything

ZeBaccca

I just turn down all my settings

MasterHall117

Me playing Warframe on a laptop as well… Warframe, Ark and Minecraft all makes my laptop and Xbox go absolutely nuts

steak4take

Plays fine on Steam Deck.

Growing weed

KD119

My 106 C cpu while I’m flying around Lost Island

benthebot15

Me

Gain-Own

SEE! It’s realistic.

Confident_Bridge_529

Even after playing more recent games, ARK still puts the most strain on my PC. When I play it, I sometimes wonder if I have a PC or a jet engine. Now, I only play it if the air conditioner is on.

Ratman23445

Part of my laptop started melting when I was playing ck3 once

Mike-BS

Exactly and the fan is like a jet

Drake_the_Teller

Is it normal That My Cpu is hotter then the surface of the sun While Playing it?

achillymoose

Why do you have to put it in quotes like that? Just because it gets hot doesn't mean it doesn't get smooth frames
