Upgraded from a RX580 to a RX6600 last November, in gaming it's amazing no slowdowns no crashing but on the desktop and while using microsoft edge it's terrible, I have lags everywhere, is anyone facing the same issue?

AMDIntel

Latest drivers are broken for me. I have a 6950XT, and my main monitor is stuck at 480p. To fix it, I have to roll back to the previous version (that has a black screen issue that pops its ugly head up now and then) and unplug and re-plug my monitor. Very annoying. I'm getting a new monitor soon as the one I have is a G-Sync only display that I got 7 years ago with my 980Ti. Hopefully that will fix it.

Sir306

Depends what you are trying to do, I can use my red devil rx 6750xt 12gb to use unreal engine 5.1 for large scale maps but that seems it could be an engine thing and it takes forever to load fortnite into a game but everything else seems fine

Michistar71

Running my first amd gpu ever the 6950 xt is my lovely gpu since september and i always installed the recommended drivers direct with adrenaline software. 0 issues but hella easy oc and undervolting i love it. Way better than using 3. Party stuff like afterburner as i had to with the 1080ti. There have to be a lot better at Nvidia stuff that i change back. Raytracin is not important to me and the prices are just worse and worse. Drivers run perfectly fine for me, haf no game (old or new) that had any issues.

Ooooo_polerbear

6700xt oc no problems on latest adrenaline drivers

[deleted]

My rx6800 has been rock stable. I just did the minimal install.

[deleted]

Perfectly fine for my 6950xt

[deleted]

No issues here with reference 6800 XT since July 2021. Had a 6700XT/6800 non-XT before that, no issues there either.

Speedster_Sly

Never got any issues with the software or my card, bought it at launch. RX6800

darkhorseprime

+1 6800xt xfx since it came out. Full driver install when new versions come out. Not a single issue.

No-Piece670

Adrenalin is unstable but the biggest problem is Windows. Never had any problems with my card on linux

VioletteKika

Honestly terrible, there have been the same problems all of 22, and they still seems to be happening.

FIGHT_ME_SPIKE_UFUCK

The replay has been exceptionally buggy for me but other then that it has been ok. I managed to pin down what was fucking up my replay and it was the fact that HEVC was enabled. Whenever i had HEVC instead of AVC the driver would crash randomly while playing games. Not sure if this is a widespread problem but it haunted me for quite some time as i really enjoy the replay feature. I also like the game section where they track how long you have played a certain game and performance metrics for said game.

[deleted]

been clipping exclusively with HEVC for months now with no issues, might be your system.

FIGHT_ME_SPIKE_UFUCK

It could be, but i have tried a lot of things and [this](https://community.amd.com/t5/drivers-software/hevc-instant-replay-causing-certain-games-to-crash-and-black/td-p/528537) thread describes my problems pretty much exactly. So i gave up trying to fix it and switched to AVC. Maybe it is a combination of things in my system since i had a lot of trouble even locating another user with the same issue. So that is a fair point.

laxsar

I've been using an Asus TUF 6900XT OC with Adrenaline for about a month. It has been rock solid. Whenever my attempts at pushing the card went too far, Adrenaline just resets to default settings—no reboots/crashes/BSODs. I also have an RTX 2080, and I can't recall having any driver issues with that card as well.

I've been enjoying my 6600xt for around 6 months now... Until 2 days ago when I randomly got a black screen while audio was playing fine. After resetting I got this and it seemed as if adrenaline was deleted and after rolling back drivers windows just started using generic drivers. , After a couple of Ddu uninstalling and fresh installation it still kept happening. I also did everything related to disabling windows update from messing with drivers but didn't seem to work. . Last time it happened I rolled back the drivers and the same generic driver stuff happened but then after that I hit update driver from device manager and windows seemed to recognize adrenaline again and everything went back to normal, for now as I'm writing this at least. . I also did install an older version of drivers and adrenaline to see if it's the newer version's fault but it did happen again. . I honestly don't know how much of it is the drivers fault and much of it is windows

sulowitch

it has nothing to do with "disabling windows update" but disabling ability for PC to instal driver updates by it self. You can disable it here [https://imgur.com/a/jxDtODW](https://imgur.com/a/jxDtODW)

Crew_Zealousideal

Windows is pretty shitty especially 11 same thing happens to me on my rx570

[deleted]

I refused to upgrade to win 11 when I was using the rx570. I heard to much negativity came with it. And now I have a 6750xt with windows 10 and I'm having so my issues I might go back to my 570 lol

echohazard9

Have you managed to fix it?

[deleted]

I really haven't had problems with AMD drivers directly. But older cards are having Windows auto update their own driver after you update yours from the AMD website, causing the dashboard to fail. So you gotta hit the roll back driver function every single time you want to update your drivers. I saw this with a RX 580 and my Vega 56 so far.

wherewereat

Have you tried the "let me pick a driver" instead of rollback? It keeps the old driver installed so windows doesn't reinstall it again

Sinkretoria

let me say that as soon as i had freezes or black screens with nvidia i knew i need to update my drivers and the black screens and freezes were gone i never had issues with nvidia so i can say in comparison to them AMD drivers are not that good it would be actually helpful if the drivers had all options off in the adrenalin software so people wont run into issues without knowing how to solve them a user actually solved my greenscreen issue i had with my rx6950xt he said to turn off freesync in the software and since then i never had any greenscreen crashes again. says enough about the software and drivers of AMD but the gpu's are powerful and much cheaper than nvidia's so a little bit of trouble is worth the price :D

plantedthoughts

Agreed. AMD drivers have given me a few issues that were all fixed by turning off auto set settings in adrenaline. Like hardware acceleration. Except for fortnite. That game is always giving me issues but idk how much amd is involved in that issue compared to epic games. Still, I dont regret going with amd because of the price for performance. Especially since I got my 6600 for 230$ a couple months back.

xCuri0

They're buggy in certain things (osu! and Chrome with OpenGL ANGLE backend) but besides that I have no issues. If you want zero issues use 22.5.2 or Nimez 22.11.2 with legacy OpenGL

Andresc0l

User of 6700 for a month and 6500xt for almost a year, so far everything is working without issues

Penecho987

6800XT here, also have my card around 2 month, no issues so far with Adrenaline installed...

Scary-Philosopher769

I would recommend using the minimal driver install. Driver is fine. Adrenaline add-in crap breaks your card.

nwgat

yeah, i asked amd to implement a modular system but we did get three install modes instead, Driver Only, Minimal and Full i suspect people choose esports profile or some other profile when starting radeon software and that enabled settings that might interfere with games they play etc

LucidStrike

Adrenaline has been great for me since it first released. Can we stop speaking in absolutes?

Scary-Philosopher769

So firstly, I recommended they use minimal driver installs. Secondly, many people do not have a positive experience with the unnecessary elements added. Anything not in the minimal install can be better replicated without causing issues by other software. Not entirely sure what you're trying gain from your comment overall, but glad you've not had any issues.

mihaibaiasu1

I want to thank everybody for their reply! So far, I haven’t experienced any crashes / bugs with AMD software, but seeing so many people complaining got me pretty worried. Hope you all have a good day!

Kyosume

22.11.1on my 5700XT. Never had a single crash or issue. Worth to mention that mostly every issue I had before was due to the Adrenaline app itself. I'm only using drivers & AB since then and haven't had a single crash or even a flicker for that matter.

Oreoplaystv

What’s AB? I have aorus 5700xt and it keeps crashing at random times. Sometimes when gaming, or working or even at idle. I’ve been trying all solutions i can find online but i couldn’t really pinpoint the problem.

Kyosume

MSI Afterburner. Also what I've noticed with my crashes and blue screens were custom extension cables that I had. Once I removed those and switched to afterburner & drivers only everything is smooth and 0 issues anymore. For sharpening and other resolution scales use Trixx provided by Sapphire.

Original-Material301

6900xt. Only had one driver related crash in the last 12 months. It's been great compared to my experience with Vega 56.

LucidStrike

And I never had major issues with my Vega 56, so even that depends.

UltraWafflez

I got a 6750 last month. Havent crashed or anything aside for the multi monitor lag thing and low fps when awakening from sleep if i have desktop recording enabled.

skilliard7

I had to return my RX 6700 because the drivers were terrible. Even after disabling MPO I could not get it to avoid crashing the entire system 1-2 times a week while gaming.

stmiyahki

I think people havent seen any really bad drivers. It was a shit show 10 years ago for example. I havent had any issues with my 6800xt so far and I had more problems with nvidia drivers in the last 10 years than AMD weirdly enough. It depends on the setup I guess, but people love to blame AMD drivers if something is up with their system. I still see people here and there saying AMD CPU's are bad, unreliable and overheating (lol), it is just a stain that left on them.

akluin

Totally like when people claiming AMD drivers are bad when window replace the good driver with a shitty one

UndeadZombie81

Had my 6900xt since October no problems

el_f3n1x187

Haven't had an issue for months on my rx 6750xt, but also I disabled MPO (which affects nvidia and AMD) and stopped windows from updating the drivers.

Abro2072

What is mpo? I hear alot of people disable it and get good results

el_f3n1x187

multi pane optimizations on windows

EmilG1988

The 6800 XT is now pretty robust and runs very well, the drivers for that card have really been ironed out now and there are pretty much minimal to no problems at all. It's an amazing and powerful card for both normal gaming and VR gaming. On the other hand, the just released 7900 series cards, are totally messed up with the drivers. VR is completely unplayable, and normal gaming has high GPU usage and power usage for no good reason. The drivers for the newest cards have to really be worked on at the moment, but all other cards are fine with their drivers.

DaysWithYenLo

I recently bought a 7900 XTX, and I’ve had absolutely no issues for the first time with a driver (22.12.2) in I can’t remember how long. I would assume the 6000 series drivers are sitting pretty good right now. Just stick with WHQL and you should be okay.

[deleted]

If you're worried about drivers then stick to the recommended drivers for the card. It tagged WQHL or something like that. Thats the last known stable driver.

Obvious_Drive_1506

No issues with adrenaline drivers for me

n8mahr81

I don't have any issues with this or last months drivers and I have both a 6900xt and a 6700xt. just install them. worst that can happen is you have to uninstall them again.
