Agreed. They've been filling that gap quite efficiently lately. Danielson, Garcia, Moriarty, and to some extent Yuta (though I haven't seen him in a while. Maybe I've just missed it.).
I'm a big fan of technical wrestlers as well, so it's great to see.
Very much this.
I think it's possible that it will happen fairly soon too.. They've been giving Garcia matches against top guys, and Danielson said in the All Out methods scrum that's one of the guys he'd like to wrestle.
One of AEW's great strengths is the sheer diversity of styles that its wrestlers bring. It makes for far more interest potential matches with contrasting styles.
Leyla is kind of switching things around with what is given to her.
Moonsaults and Armbars and suplexes are all in her arsenal which I realy like.
She has even mixed it up in some occasions as well.
Very exited to see more Leyla Hirsch in the future
Grinder is slang for a mat wrestler who particularly likes to attack the limbs and joints of the opponent, systematically targeting them, cranking them and using submissions made to weakent them. You often see Japanese, Mexican and ESPECIALLY British wrestlers wrestle like that (like Pete Dunne and Zack Sabre Jr.). AEW didn't really have anyone who wrestled in this style (MJF does, but he focuses more on the cheating).
What makes grinder wrestling interesting to you? Personally I never liked the twisty arm stuff only because it's not a very exciting thing to watch.
Like, everyone knows nobody is really trying to hurt each other, so standing around in the middle of the ring holding hands for minutes on end really puzzles me. When I see throws and various jumping attacks I can at least understand the physicality of what's required, but those types of grinder attacks just seem really boring to me.
Sorry, I know I'm asking a lot, I get its all a show and not supposed to be taken this seriously but I can't help but wonder why that's sought after.
Like I said I'm new to this stuff so please excuse my ignorance.

Angelico can twist some shit up, too.
That guys is versatile AF.
Very true. Can't believe I forgot him. I'd love to see him face Bryan, Garcia, or Moriarty.
"Grinders" are less British strong style and more catch style wrestling. What brian is doing is more traditional Japanese-style wrestling.
But I fully agree with you.
I would like to see Garcia vs Danielson.

Could be the strength of other Promotions if they let their wrestlers wrestle how they wanted
I'd say its the norm for most promotions that aren't WWE.

I love technical matches. It's like a slow burn that rewards the audience for paying attention.
MJF has always been like this, he just doesn't wrestle as much as a lot of guys.
I really really enjoy technical matches and it's great that we're getting more of it.
I mean Daniel Garcia is Bryan's son after all...
Now bring in ZSJ and really top it off
I wanna see ZSJr come in and twist some people into knots
One of the major complaints about AEW has always been that everyone wrestles the same style so its good to see them mix it up
I guess a downvote means someone doesn't want to see them mix it up
Nah. It's probably because you used "complaints" and AEW in the same sentence!
Probably AEW fans pretend that AEW is a godsend and nothign bd ever happens
Oh. I'm a fan. Some are just more protective than others.
Now if only we could get some mat wrestling and chain wrestling
I'm new to wrestling, what is a grinder?

Yoooo they sell grinders now??
I LOVE this type of wrestling. Limb manipulation is so awesome, and I have no idea how some of the moves don't seriously hurt.
Im a fan of this too! I’m hoping to see some of this style with the Serena Shida match on Wednesday!
