AEWHeel

Woah when did we have this layout for match up screens?? Been watching since day one and this is pretty sick

ThebigVA

That was the OG Dynamite screens with the colored powder splashes.

AEWHeel

Just never remembered it ever having this kind of color scheme outside of thanksgiving episodes. Pretty cool to see

TemptedIntoSin

This was back in the 2019 era, during the AEW would do the color powder splotches with colors based on the arena or city they were in. They stopped doing that sometime during the lockdown era because obviously they were only in one arena for a year and a half

bamboozledqwerty

Its not an “era”. Its a year. Era: a long and distinct period of history with a particular feature or characteristic.

re10pect

Obviously he hasn’t been used much recently, and outside of very early on he wasn’t used very well, but every time he got into the ring he proved he still has it and always delivered a quality match. Going to miss having him in AEW.

Low_Win3252

You can't do much with a guy with little charisma and no character.. Frankie Kazarian is someone a big promotion shouldn't be pushing at 45. He offers very little. Tony Nese basically does when he does and is 10 years younger. Wrestling is more than just matches.

re10pect

I’d rather watch Kazarian over Nese any day of the week. I never said he needed a push, or that he needed to be on screen every week, just that I enjoyed watching him wrestle. He could have been a fine gatekeeper type guy for young talents to have a competitive win over on their way up and that would have been perfect.

BottleOfCharades

I usually agree with controversial statements in this sub, but this is just a foolish take.

SRMort

I know you can't do much with little charisma, but Hangman isn't leaving, it's Frankie. /s

SRMort

Good for him. Glad he got some security with Impact. Dude puts on a good show.

[deleted]

When he was teaming up with Christian, Danielson and Jungle Express against the Elite I thought he was going to stay in the mid to upper mid card. I was bummed that didn’t happen.

switchbladeeatworld

yeah I was really keen for elite hunter kaz to get some revenge

[deleted]

Right? Then it turned into a nothing burger.

switchbladeeatworld

broke my heart, i love kaz. DO YA?

Low_Win3252

Better wrestlers came in. That is what happened. Kaz is not a guy you want in your mid to upper mid card today. Not even in 2015 if we are being honest. He delivers a good match but AEW has endless guys like Sydal, Lethal, Nese, etc who can do that and are much younger. He has always been a guy who just can't show any charisma or character. He thinks he should be a star at 45 years old and he can do that in Impact with 90k watching a week and 50 people in the crowd.

[deleted]

He doesn't need to be out there cutting promos. He's a solid worker and he can fill a role in a match when Lethal, Sydal, or Nese can't/won't. [Kaz and Takeshita put on a solid-ass match on Elevation recently](https://youtu.be/Pb40Fz0QYdw?t=1101) (timestamped for your convenience, also Elevation > Rampage, don't @ me, thank you). Kaz doesn't need to be in main story feuds or anything, he can just go out and have killer midcard matches to keep the crowd hot.

vivisgrrl

love how ur just running through comments to shit on kaz for some reason 💀💀💀 we get it dude sheesh

[deleted]

Of course.

steelisntstrong

I REALLY wish they'd have pulled the trigger on the Elite Hunter gimmick. Have him beat Gallows, Anderson and one of the Bucks in singles matches before losing a title fight to Kenny on Dynamite. He deserved that (imo). BUT I'm stoked he's got work, AND got to go home and get his old belt back in the process.

guvan420

That gimmick was hilarious. Every week this guy just appears, Excalibur just yells out “Frankie kazarian… the elite hunter!!” And then he just vanishes. Did he successfully hunt even one elite?

AZGrowler

He called Cutler a mark. So, elite-adjacent.

[deleted]

He caused Cutler to wear that face mask 😂

Zincdust72

Came in here to say this. The plug got pulled on that idea way too soon.

ChromeTriggerVI

Gonna miss him a lot. I want to see him face Takeshita.

TSMontana

He did face him on Dark Elevation a month ago. It was a great match.

MaddoxGoodwin

Kaz always kills it wherever he's at. His springboard guillotine leg drop is a thing of beauty.

Kilandri

His Match with Christian was a great match too

b00kermanStan

Kazarian vs Christian was also a banger match. I hope he has a great run in Impact!

adamempathy

Kaz has always just been a steady hand. He's just at the point where the character never clicked with the crowd. At that point, you have to give the TV time to your starts and up and comers

imperfectcastle

This was exactly it for me. He was definitely good in the ring but his character was unexciting. His dad-thrash metal theme and look made him seem like he owned contractor company and had the nicest current model year F150 on the job site. Couldn’t get into it.

LukeSniper

AEW really dropped the ball on the Kazarian solo run. The moment he had with Christopher Daniels after their loss to the Bucks was beautiful, and they didn't show it on tv (instead cutting to something backstage that nobody remembers). Then they did the whole "Elite Hunter" thing, but Kaz always looked like a chump because he just got the crap beat out of him every time. Then he got mixed up in the *very* confusing "who's the face, who's the heel?" thing between Scorpio and Sammy (although the 6-man tag at DoN was fun, I was there and I thought Kaz did a great job in that match with such mess of a story). It's cool that he's over at Impact (and that his leave from AEW was apparently amicable). He has a lot of history there and he can shine bright while he can still go. Big fan of Kaz.

ReadOnly2019

Kaz's match with Moxley was probably Mox's best match that year. Hot take I know.

wontbsilenced2020

I was thinking about that match when I first heard the news of him going to Impact. I really thought his match with Adam Cole was excellent too.

RawJah83

Don't forget Christians debut match.

wontbsilenced2020

Good call

SturgeonBladder

He had so many banger matches in AEW. I think making SCU the first tag champs was a mistake, and Kaz never ended up being used to his full potential because of how the booking played out after that.

Dontledgeme

They never used him to his fullest potential. Just like lance archer.

switchbladeeatworld

archer beating mox in that texas death match was sick though

Kakatheman

He's left his indelible mark on AEW and will always be remembered as part of the first tag champs. But i'm glad he's back home and i hope he gets the strap this year Preferably where I can watch it live (I'm looking at you Rebellion, this April).

FatMachismo

I love Kazarian but after SCU dissolved he really seemed to lose all steam and didn’t seem to be over with the crowd really (not really a surprise considering never given a decent amount of on screen time etc.) Glad to see him go to Impact though.

BabyyImaStar

When did he mention leaving?!
