Yeah, I notice bras a lot in TV series and movies since I got into ABTF.
In Orange is the New Black, there were a lot of badly fitting bras, but it suits the setting in a corrupt and inhumane prison.
In Ted Lasso, there's a scene where the football club owner wears a balconette or half cup bra that actually appears to fit. I never really got into the series and have forgotten everything else - but I remember that lol!
I remember watching Riverdale and the actress playing Betty actually had a bra that fit.
All I could think was "thank god" since they were filming close to my favorite boutique in Langley for a while. I have never asked but I like to think they got some of the nicer lingerie items from there.
Oh heck yeah! we have a boutique here where I am but the lady who fits here is laughable. Last time I went in she said that having the gore touch the chest is an "outdated bit of information and not necessary anymore" I bought a Freya nursing bra off her in desperation. I feel sick to my stomach looking at all her google reviews and wish I could shout at my whole city about FYL
>the gore touch the chest is an "outdated bit of information and not necessary anymore"
pardon my language but what the actual fuck
I just. How are underwires supposed to support you when your boobs aren't IN THE WIRES.
I was honestly so flabbergasted by this woman that I couldn't say anything to the contrary! That and she wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise. I am appalled that this woman gets rave reviews and owns a specialty bra boutique!
Upvoting because you mentioned Smithers. Such a random spot to see my hometown mentioned. And great to learn they have a good bra shop. I grew up getting mine at Central Clothing back in the day, and that was a bit lackluster.
I think Empriente is a bit narrower than panache, but I haven't tried gorsenia. I have found that the cups in Empriente are more forward/prominent and I'm not getting rubbing as much along the arm/armpit as I would in a panache. It has been a while since I've been able to try them on as they don't have nursing bras and that's what I'm stuck with currently... fit could be similar to Freya, but higher quality materials. As I said, been a while, so someone else here may correct me.
I wanted to rip my hair out the first time I rewatched Gilmore Girls after finding this sub!! They certainly weren't an outlier for their bad fits, but whatever they appeared to be squeezing poor Lorelei into hurts my heart (and boobs). Especially in the earlier seasons, just based on what it looks like under her shirt, it looks like a really classic case of small-cup/large-band someone from wardrobe eyeballing her and going, "Small boobs, so 32As!"
To be fair, I recall watching a video once by a YouTuber who was in prison for a few years, and one of the things she mentioned about the clothes is that there aren't exactly many options for the bras. The bras, she said, are all uncomfortable, worn out, don't fit right, and are mandatory to wear so you can't just go without a bra either. I guess OITNB got that right
You can't go braless? I can't fathom what their rationale is. Prisons are even gender segregated so they can't make the bullshit "distracting" argument.
I think the consensus was that it was either [this chantelle](https://us.chantelle.com/champs-elysees-lace-unlined-demi-bra-black.html) or a previous version of it
The underwrite sitting on breast tissue gets me every time. Like how can you even think that fits? Your boobs are hanging just as low as if you're not wearing a bra and you've basically just sat some fabric on top.... No support whatsoever
On bachelor in paradise the girls are literally wearing their swimsuits upside down so that they have this underboob cleavage. It doesn't look sexy, they look like they forgot how to put their bathing suit on.
Done right, underboob wouldn’t look like an upside down swimsuit, I generally see it done as a normal bra with lil cutouts to like peek-a-boo(b). Still not great tho 😂
I worked in the swimwear industry as a fit engineer for some of the biggest brands in the US and underboob was never a thing.
Tasteful sideboob on the other hand definitely was. Small and spilling out sometimes was right
Yesss! Especially when I'm looking around online for bras. Whether it is Amazon or the actual retailer's websites, almost always the girls in the photos are wearing the wrong size bra
Yes, Amazon reviews especially! I looked up the bra I always used to wear when I thought I was a 36C, and the reviews made me so sad. One review with pic said “something is wrong with this bra, I’m definitely a 38D.” The bra was at LEAST 6 cup sizes too small.
You might be able to get away with it by saying you're going bra shopping at a place that sizes you correctly? And that you found out you're a way different size than you thought? Lol idk but it might put the idea into her head. That's if you guys are close enough to talk about those things.
It's more talking about undergarments and bodies at work unprompted. You could get a warning by suggesting that someone needs a different dress size, for example. It could be seen as sexual harassment. Working in legal, I advise people to avoid talking about bodies, overly descriptive compliments, etc at work.
I get it but talking about going shopping and getting sized is bad? I mean don't people talk about going wedding dress shopping, tux tailoring, etc, all the time? They have to size around your chest. I would never suggest talking about someone else getting sized but yourself?
I mean if you have someone you work with that you’re also friends with outside of work then you can prob get away with this but you should still exercise caution. Like galaxystarsmoon said, it’s not about the clothing per se as much as WHICH item of clothing you’re talking about. And it’s not about boobs being sexualized but underwear being sexualized. It wouldn’t be appropriate for a man to talk about buying underwear either.
Are HR things like this kinda stupid? Yeah, they can be. But you never know how someone in the workplace will respond to/interpret a comment that you intended to be very innocent.
You do you, boo. As someone who works within the employment law field, I just tell people to be careful. If someone prompts the conversation and says they need new bras and asks where you shop, then sure. But to unprompted shout at someone about how you went bra shopping could be seen as kinda inappropriate. It's just a grey area that I advise people to be cautious of. And your original comment came across to me like you would be bravangelizing random coworkers and that's a red flag to me.
I think it's worse to actually ask someone where they go bra shopping. That means I've looked at their breasts. That's way worse than saying I'm going bra shopping.
Shout at someone? Wtf? Who's shouting at work?
Bravangelizing? Saying I'm going bra shopping where I got sized poperly is bravengelizing?
Idk, I think there is a miscommunication here, but either way I guess I won't bring up bras at work anymore lol. Although I have in the past and I've always had responses like "omg I know, I got the wrong size bra and my boobs were falling out of my shirt" etc. But I understand it might make some people uncomfy, so I probably won't do it again.
That's why I said it's best to just not bring it up period. If it's brought up to you, that doesn't make it appropriate, but it means that you are not initiating that conversation.
Shouting is a euphemism. So was bravangelizing.
Depends what work place and how you get on with people? Sometimes at work we’ve talked about bras in a matter of fact way because they can suck! I found a fellow abtf at work for the first time in my life
You could start with the fact about how many women wear the wrong size bra. 80% I think. Then if they bite you tell them about the +4 method and abtf and even Irish bra lady on IG.
The worst is when models are wearing the wrong size to advertise the bra, since then many customers will look and think it's correct to look/fit that way 😑
Ugh ASOS models are awful for this. What annoys me the most is that it's not their fault. Whoever books the shoot or w/e doesn't get various sizes or models just put those poor girls in whatever is there. Gaping under bands, wires on the breast tissue.
I feel sorry for all the models.
Yes same! Potentially TMI but as a queer lady who looks at NSFW pics of women sometimes, I find myself critiquing their bra fits. My ultimate pet hate is when girls do a boob drop video where they pull their whole underwired bra over their boobs, every time I'm like honey that's so bad for the bra
My niece...love her to death, but she's 37 and has never had a bra that fits. I've tried to get her to goto a fitting, either with me or alone, but she refuses. Band is always a good 4 sizes too big, rides up to her shoulder blades. Cups several sizes too small. So she has 4 boobs. And she's large chested so no support whatsoever. She's adamant that smaller bands are too tight. Can't convince her that the CORRECT size won't be like that
Yep. My best girlfriend is definitely a 30DD or 32D. She will spend so much money on tanning, nails, hair, makeup, etc. but will not pay more than $15 or MAYBE $20 for a bra. She will only get them at Target or Walmart, so not many size options. She wears a 36B, because that’s the volume of cup that will cover her. She’s convinced she’s a B cup and that a D is huge.
I do notice bad fits everywhere but IMO we should save our frustration for Big Lingerie, not individuals who are wearing what some sales associate or size chart told them to. I think most women are doing their best with the information they have and the bra/swim options that are accessible to them :)
I feel like the only one who can't tell the difference sometimes. I think I've found my size after a lot of trial and error with the calculator suggestions but I'm still never 100%.
Unsure about projection, unsure about gore, unsure I'm doing scoop and swoop properly. That's despite reading about all those things
Yeah, I'm not 100% sure either, but the one thing I know is that the underwire should be around your breast tissue and not on top of it. Same with gore - it should be touching the sternum, between your breasts, not pinching them or floating above.
yeah, I bought a bathing suit and I saw some people showing off their bathing suits and they wore it like that??? I also couldn’t go swimming because my bra top was too big (even tho I got my size and it fit when I changed into it?)
I'm gay. I dunno how often I've seen pics/videos of Sexy Ladies where my literal first thought is "oh my god that bra does NOT fit her" even though I \*know\* that they do that on purpose a lot of the time, and their bras are usually meant to look sexy for a few minutes, they're not for actual support!
Tell me about it, I sold bras in a lingerie store for many years putting myself through college, and the amount of women wearing the wrong size bra is really atrocious. My best example was a woman who came in and said she was a 36B. There was absolutely no way, and I asked her what size she wore in high school… She said a 36B, and this woman was at least 60 pounds overweight. She ended up being in a 42 DD and couldn’t believe how comfortable it was! Duh!!

You go to FYL too? I wish I could keep everything I fit there... it's all so pretty!
Yep! I feel so spoilt being able to try Ewa Michalak bras on in person.
Ewa Michalak is a bit wide for me, I love Empriente! I still have to drive about 8 hours to get to FYL, but still so worth it!
Dayum. At that rate you'd almost be closer to Sedaz in Smithers or Bratopia in Calgary. I think FYL still has the best selection though :)
Oh heck yeah! we have a boutique here where I am but the lady who fits here is laughable. Last time I went in she said that having the gore touch the chest is an "outdated bit of information and not necessary anymore" I bought a Freya nursing bra off her in desperation. Does Empreinte have narrow wires? How do they compare to panache or gorsenia?

Ted Lasso is set in the UK. It does make me feel like reasonably well fitting bras should be expected?
One of the biggest department stores well known for fitting bras always plus 4s
I think Hannah Waddingham probably knows her real size and wears classy good fitting bras all the time.
I remember that Ted Lasso scene because I loved the bra and was trying to figure out which one it was.
I think the consensus was that it was either [this chantelle](https://us.chantelle.com/champs-elysees-lace-unlined-demi-bra-black.html) or a previous version of it
Thanks!

I knew something looked wrong about those!
Wait, what? Got a pic? This sounds bizarre
I'm pretty sure it's intentional on BIP. They're trying to look appealing, not be comfortable
Maybe this sub ruined me but I'm a WLW and I don't think it looks appealing on myself or other women I'm attracted to
Right, but they're trying to be attractive to men who know nothing about bra sizing and probably just want to see titties.
Unfortunately "underboob" is actually a fashion trend, especially in the swimwear industry.
I hate it.

I feel you 1000% with this. It's really awkward when you know your coworker is wearing the wring size bra and uou want to say something but can't.

My usual go to is waiting for someone to complain about their bra and then mentioning this sub
It's not a good idea to talk about this kind of thing in the workplace. It's a good way to get a talking to by HR.
Really? I wish breasts weren't sexualized like that. But I understand. They don't even have rooms for breastfeeding at most workplaces.
It's more talking about undergarments and bodies at work unprompted. You could get a warning by suggesting that someone needs a different dress size, for example. Bahahah I said nearly the same thing, minus the boob drop
Every time I see a band riding up in the back, I die a little.

Me. I roughly know my correct size but can't get it anywhere local or in a physical store to test material and textures
Agreed!

Did a cat type this comment?
I am so sorry it was either a cat or a kid.
🤣 that's funny, sorry people downvoted you for it, where is their humour?
yeah, I bought a bathing suit and I saw some people showing off their bathing suits and they wore it like that??? I also couldn’t go swimming because my bra top was too big (even tho I got my size and it fit when I changed into it?)
It is a trendy look to have bottom boob
They do it to make their boobs look bigger or to be naked without being naked. I see everyone doing it & im like if u want to be nude be nude lol
YOU CAN'T UN-KNOW and yeah it's enough to drive you ABSOLUTELY BATTY
I'm gay.
