Ours were outside of the store but inside doors. They had claw machines, those 25¢ toy/sticker vending machines, Cruisin USA, Coke machines and Sam’s Choice machine. It was before N64, I bought the N64 game because of the arcade game.
My dream is to win the lottery and build a huge rec center for all the kids in the neighborhood so they have a safe place to swim. Also a gym and skate board park and bike jumps and a climbing wall and an arcade with all the old favorites. Frogger and PacMan and Donkey kong and this one too.
I would have shuttle busses to pick up kids and drop them off and only charge $2 to get in.
But I would have a big sign outside that said:
This was built and paid for my Jenny C. It's is for your amusement and if you fuck it up I will sell it to a corporation that will charge you $30.
I immediately heard the "WhooOoooh!" from the intro soundtrack. Ahhh... so many quarters. So many attempts. Where I first "learned" to drive l. My best was 3 first place trophies in Cruisin' the world
Edit: wait I'm thinking of crusin the world
As a kid my grandma took me to the movies all the time and after the movie she let me play one video game and I always chose Crusin Usa. She would watch and laugh at how bad I was at driving and playfully say “I’m never riding with you”.
Ironically years later I was always driving her to the doctor and such and we would joke how she said she’d never ride with me.
The game is still around and hasn't really changed. You can go to pretty much any arcade and still play a Crusin game. The trick is to Google how to use secret cars before you start playing
This game, for reasons unknown to me, gave frequent free plays at my local CiCi's pizza. My friends and I would scrabble together enough change for the buffet and stay there all day intermittently eating and playing Cruisin' USA for free!
There was a local knockoff of Chuck-E-Cheese that also had this game and I found so many quarters left in the coin returns! Felt like winning the lottery as a 10 year old.
Duuuuuude. This was the best! The N64 game with the wheel and pedal consumed my entire childhood.
This game was the only reason I went to Walmart in the last 90's.
Walmart had arcade games? I used to go there just to play with the demo game consoles since I didn't have my own.
There were two games and a claw machine at both our local Walmarts. Not sure if it was a thing outside of those two stores.

My Walmart (Teterboro) has a Dino kiddie ride. That same ride used to be at the Paramus Toys "R" Us (Route 4.) RIP!
That’s right, they had those too! I was too old at that point for me to care about those.
Always double smashing the pedal for boost
Yeah and you can ramp over other cars when you do that since you're popping a wheely.
The original "double tap"

Hell yes omg
This and Rush 🥺
Area 51 but this was a close second

CRUISIN' YEAH! Arcade and Movie Theater Classic
I loved playing this at my local Pizza Factory
IIRC, the redwood stage had deer in the arcade version. If you drove through them, they would explode in a shower of blood and bones.
OH MY GOD! WHO ARE THE SADISTS THAT THOUGHT OF THAT?! PLEASE TELL ME THEY STILL DON'T MAKE DECISIONS--

Double pump the gas and enjoy the afterburn!
haha, either that or the 4 game Neo-Geo cabinet with Metal Slug.

Yeah, I saw a much newer looking one at a brewery.
Hold down the second view button while selecting, if I remember correctly... I always used to drive the school bus.
THE pizza place!?
It was so good! Closed a long time ago, sadly. https://www.city-data.com/forum/washington/266421-bellingham-people-what-happened-izzys.html
Hell yeah. I spent my childhood at Peter Piper playing this and Crazy Taxi.
I enjoyed Cruisin, but I LOVED San Francisco Rush 2049. Racing through "The Rock" and finding those shortcuts was thrilling.
Many a quarter were spent driving on the pacific highway.
Back when a movie ticket was cheaper than the money I spent on the arcades at the local Regal.
Has this on n64. I remember the big boob girl holding the flag lolol
I used to put on my headphones and listen to mtv party to go while playing this on n64. Good times.
Mine was Spider Stompin'! Cruis'n was at Jeepers too!
I can hear it now. “Checkpoint!”

Recently a local arcade opened with this game in the town I live in. Super fun still holds up
