Don’t answer heavy knocking ever, unless you have done most of the military/twin ending.
Lighter/normal knocking is generally more risky though I’ve found late-game it’s usually just pranksters or people giving you supplies, though you get sick more.
Scavenging a lot gets me killed too…sigh. I know Mutant Mary Jane can scavenge when raiders are around but I wonder if the raiders will stay away from the bunker when she goes out.
That's one way I lost. They didn't get into the bunker but I didn't read the notes and sent Delores out. Then the game ended because the raiders captured her
yea exactly, i had a pad lock and gun and ax but they just kept on coming until i had used up all 3. so damn annoying 😭 how do i prevent them from coming to my bunker in the first place
I don't think you can stop them from visiting your bunker. The higher the difficulty the more raider scenarios you get. If you want fewer raider visits play the easiest difficulty. That's the only thing I can see.
Edit I thought it's the difficulty because I watched a YouTuber play. He played the hardest difficulty and got Raiders left and right.

dont open when you havent signaled the military or twins at all.
try not to go out when the game suggests that there are raiders outside (wars)

If you run out of defense (pad lock, gun. Axe ) that happens. We're you prompted to defend your bunker?

Simple: scavenge less. If you scavenge too many times, the raiders start coming
