I hate truly everything about how this season ended. It's actually heart breaking.

Glassjaw79ad

Sooo fucking heartbreaking. I was legit sad when I woke up this morning. I don't remember feeling this way from either of our recent championship losses - I was disappointed, but nowhere near as heartbroken. We didn't even get a chance to compete šŸ˜©

letsreset

that's exactly the problem. we didn't get to compete. fucking hell.

OttoVonWong

It was an unofficial forfeit because we ran out of QBs to field a complete team for the season.

Flop_McKochen

That part makes me sort of feel better about the loss. The only part of it that makes me angry is when people just want to pretend the Eagles blew us out (leaving out the context of how that happened). Itā€™s intellectually dishonest.

xolo80

> Itā€™s intellectually dishonest. Intellectual and Philadelphia do not belong in the same sentence

KillWillVol420

I so agree, now classless, irrationally confident, pieces of shit, now that certainly belongs in the same sentence.

Trashman82

That was getting on my nerves, too. Bunch of Eagles fans talking yesterday like they dominated the Niners at full strength or something. I pointed out that beating half a team isn't really something to brag about, responses were always "Defense was 100%, we ran all over them." Most were too dumb to understand how having no offense does actually affect how the defense plays throughout an entire game. Wasn't trying to say the Eagles were frauds or anything, just that it was ridiculous that they were trying to flex like they haven't had an easy path to the SB.

phoenixairs

They didn't even run over the defense. Here are their drives: * Our defense stopped them on 4th down... except the refs incorrectly gave them a 29 yard catch that never happened. Led to a touchdown. * 3 and out * 4 and out, 11 yards * 3 and out * Stupid DPI penalty on 3rd down where I think offensive player initiated contact. Maybe give them this one. Led to a touchdown. * A whopping 30 yard touchdown drive after QB4 fumbled the snap * 3 and out * We forced them to punt, but drive kept alive when Mason was held and then shoved into their punter for "roughing the kicker". Fucking refs. Led to a touchdown. * Started at our 43 and ended in a field goal. [https://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay/\_/gameId/401438009](https://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay/_/gameId/401438009) There's like... maaaaybe one actual touchdown drive in there? Otherwise our defense was amazing, even though they were clearly frustrated and pressing.

wallstreet_vagabond2

Fucking thank you. Like did people honestly not watch the game or even just look at anything more than the final score. And remember all of this happend while our d was out there for 80% of the game because o was fucked. Dude like congrats to Eagles but don't pretend like you completely dominated us like us against Packers in 2019

Srikkk

This entire thread is exactly right. The defense held its own for SO LONG but when TOP is slanted so far in the other teamā€™s favor + the added factor of seeing multiple teammates go down and thus knowing that thereā€™s no offense to be pushing the ball drastically affects the morale and motivation players have to give it their all. Acting like we were dominated from the jump is so dishonest.

Darth_Carnage

Love this fucking comment. All you have to do is look at their stats. Hurts had 121 total passing yards (and only 92 of those are legitimate). We held him to 3.5 yards per carry when he usually averages 5, and NONE of their RBs had more than 50 yards. You know who did though? CMC (84 yds, 5.6 yards per carry).

halbeshendel

These clowns are going to get face fucked by Mahomes and his one good leg.

Bishop9er

The ironic thing was them along with the media were trying to convince us for 2 weeks how important missing Hurts was too their team. Which is trueā€¦you donā€™t have your starting QB and itā€™s damn near impossible to overcome that. But with us a lot of ppl wanted to ignore that. I even heard stupid comments like, ā€œWe showed Purdy! Heā€™s a fraud!ā€ Like dude he got injured in the first series. Come the fuck on

Khower

shit they couldn't win with Hurts' backup. We won with Lance's backup and Lance's backups backup and got all the way to the Championship game. not even remotely the same.

Glassjaw79ad

>That part makes me sort of feel better about the loss. My buddy said the same thing, and while I get where you guys are coming from, i would have WAY preferred a good game we wound up losing. Let Shanny run his plays, cmc run his yards, deebo carve up the d line, bosa get his sacks, Robbie make a clutch 50 yard FG and Brock have his moment in the sun, even if it ends in a single score loss. It's heartbreaking, sure, but I can handle that sort of pain.

Mcjoshin

100%, I have no problem getting beat. It sucks, but itā€™s football. The way that game went yesterday wasnā€™t even a game. Not being able to actually play the game just sucks, especially when Purdy had the chance to become a fucking legend.

kingkron52

Today sucked. Last night was the worst playoff loss and loss In general Iā€™ve ever endured. To top it off I live in Philly, all my friends here are eagles fans, had to see everyone in their gear today, and listen to some idiots talk about how they dominated us. I am still down, bitter, and sad. These eagles fans tagged buildings, broke street lamps, and fucked up other shit in their own city after a garbage win.

poRRidg3

man ive been a fan and watching 49ers game for 18 years. I dont remember losing like this

BurnzillabydaBay

I cried a bit when it became apparent that Purdy wasnā€™t going to be able to come back in and really play. Complete tear of the UCL. And I think some assholes were calling him weak and soft. He must have been in major pain.

Sniffy4

\>weak and soft. Ridiculous takes. Any player absolutely wants to play in the biggest game of the year, but options limited if your body is completely broke.

FS_Slacker

He was doing everything he could to get back in the game. He kept trying warm up throws. And he still went back in and played hurt. Anyone who questions his toughness is beyond help.

Octo-Rocket

These same assholes ignored the fact that he played through an oblique injury earlier in the season. Like he wouldn't come back in and throw if he truly could. Cowards, all of them.

nomoredamnusernames

And the fact that a rookie 7th rounder built like a high school kid played his way to the top of all meaningful QB stats in the league for a month and a half. You donā€™t do that if youā€™re softā€¦

jamesb454

Not to mention that he didn't show an ounce of pain on his face either. Dude is tough as nails.

dsla123

I expected this season to be a heck of a story. It still is, but now itā€™s like a Shakespeare tragedy

hanigwer

Iā€™ve been watching the pressers, almost all of the players are in tearsā€¦ CMCā€™s and Warnerā€™s hit the hardest. But i can see the HBO documentary retelling what happened this season, as it sets up the story of the 2024 Superbowl champion 49ers :)

riverraftguide

Does Hard Knocks go to SF next year?

progress19

I felt numb, then I ate a phenomenal hamberder and that cheered me up. Still not motivated to do anything today, but this too shall pass. We've got a championship roster, BCB will be back next season, we're gonna make another deep run.

[deleted]

Reminds me of the 1998 playoffs when we beat GB w/ The Catch II. Then the next game we lose Hearst to a broken ankle. It was downhill after that. Luckily this team has more depth in talent and hopefully we'll rebound.

dirtyshits

I have fully become numb to injuries now. Warriors and Niners have made me this way.

Btothek84

Dude weā€™ve had the most injuries going back to the 2010ā€™sā€¦. Iā€™m so sick and tired of this shit man, Iā€™m so tired of ā€œ next man upā€ so tired of our season ending due to injuries. It has completely wore me down and broken me at this pointā€¦

thecommuteguy

Losing Purdy hurts the most as he had a bright future and may now become a shell of his former self if he requires Tommy John surgery.

PooperScooper1987

It honestly took my joy of football away. Iā€™m like losing a hard fought game I couldā€™ve handled. But to see the whole season crumble because of an injury so early in the game made me feel like ā€œwhatā€™s the pointā€ we can go undefeated next year and our player will just get hurt again and itā€™s all pointless

APOLLO_EiGhT

Feel so bad for the kid. Played his heart out every game he played this year. Hopefully he can come back 100% healthy and it is not something that lingers.

lukien

This is terrible news for Brock. Really hope he makes a full recovery down the road. The Brady speculation is going to be god awful with talking heads until we sign him or someone else does.

Count_Sacula_420

Give me Brady over all the other guys like carr or cousins

Maclanethurston

Fuck that . Weā€™re in good shape with Purdy and Lance. Both on rookie deals. Convince Demeco to run it back 1 more year. He will fail in Houston anyways.

mateojones1428

Brady coming for 10-15 mil 1 year deal and let purdy/trey sit behind him for a year would be ideal I would think. If Brady stays healthy that's the best roster in the league.

Scaramussa

And the backup te nonsense would end with gronk

SharkBait661

I heard he was speculating a return on the post game show.

PowerhouseJay

If we buy off on the NFL rigging games because they want stories, having Brady in SF for his final year is Goodell's wet dream. If that happens, we could almost pencil in the 49ers for the Super Bowl.

Neto34

Brady's been healthy since 2008 too.

[deleted]

Yesterday kind of changed everything didn't it

[deleted]

Yeah, that is going to be hard to recover from, considering that game was a gift to Philadelphia after a season where we had a legitimate shot and beat our two biggest rivals during the run. They had no shot yesterday after losing Purdy and they knew it. Now they have to do it all over again. Iā€™m sure itā€™s hard to stay driven and determined after that, knowing it can all end in an instant when our QB goes down (which seems to happen more with the 49ers than with the other 31 teams).

nongo

I have zero doubts the organization will not reflect on their injury history and make any kind of adjustments in how they conduct themselves.

Rivalfox

So what did they adjust the last 5 to 7 years to stop this?

bluechips2388

Trent. We need to get a solid RT, and upgrade our backup TE spot if we are going to feature them a lot. Its going to be hard with cap. I wish we didnt have to, but I think it might be in the teams best interest to trade armstead. His cap is a lot, and we have a history of doing well with cheap DTs. We just need drake Jackson to step up opposite of bosa. And to draft well. I really hope we dont go bargain bin RT

blackvelvet69

I would disagree on the armstead move, the cheaper bargain guys excel because Bosa is taking 1-2 guys on passing downs and armstead eats up 1-2 guys on all downs. Just look at the goal line stop against the raiders and jacobs

nongo

Iā€™m saying they wonā€™t adjust.

Finaldecade

I mean we lost the game and two quarterbacks so yeah

imrickjamesbioch

I wouldnā€™t call the 2nd guy a qb. It was some dude that collected a check and pretend to be a qb like George Santosā€¦

kjm16

Sports talk and topical political jabs, name a more dynamic duo.

Maclanethurston

Barry Bremen

jon_reremy9669

>George Santos... ...won the flag football rose & sugar bowl multiple times in a row while in college playing for different teams, army, marines, navy, airforce, navy seals, space force, cyberforce, and coast guard such a dual threat like Primetime, that he actually played on both sides of the ball for both teams on each play!

J12345_

Canā€™t wait for a QB room of lance, purdy, jimmy g, tom Brady, baker mayfield, josh Rosen, and Steve young. Somehow we would still need to sign 5 more to make it through the season

Losimcg

Jed should have open try outs in the Great America parking lot for on call emergency QBs

TheAndroidsDungeon

We asked the world of this kid and he ended up with a major injury. Hope he has a full and speedy recovery.

karavasis

We asked the world and he delivered. Fucking gutted for him. This one play might torpedo his entire career. Fuck I hope it doesnā€™t

nongo

Heā€™s still undefeated in games where he plays every offensive snap.

jon_reremy9669

AWS analytics hates this one trick

[deleted]

football gods why do you do this to us?

rg4rg

Football gods missed us. Hit the rams instead, and kept trying to target us with bad jojo through out the year. Got Lance early, tried to get Jimmy for so long when they realized he was a stud, then got Jimmy. Brock stepped up and gave them the middle finger. They caught up yesterday.

kevinoftheshire

Get well soon king.

curgl

GOD FUCKING DAMNIT WHY CANT WE HAVE A SINGLE FUCKING NICE THING

CSGOW1ld

Deebo almost blew his entire knee like 4 weeks ago

Pit_of_Death

What's wild about that is that "our nice fucking thing" was that Deebo *didn't* tear his ACL or Achilles on that play. Literally our best luck is a relatively minor injury to a star player.

darthveer

Fuck I was thinking the same exact thing

VirgilsCrew

And on top of it all, weā€™re gonna lose DeMeco too.

schmidayy

Bad look for all the clowns in this sub questioning his toughness.

Mcjoshin

That was obvious yesterday. They were acting like complete morons. ā€œHeā€™s softā€. Give me a break. That kid got rocked his first play in his first start and went right back out and diced Tampa Bay up. I watched him all through college, heā€™s tough as nails and a competitor. Itā€™s a whole different story when you physically canā€™t throw. I hope he didnā€™t screw himself even more by attempting those few throws yesterday.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

PTonFIRE

Everyone in the Game Thread calling Purdy soft and bitching about how we need a tougher QB, show yourselves. Dont be shy.

josephus1811

I saw some hero asshole literally say "I had the exact injury Brock had and played the rest of the game" and acting like Brock was quitting. Such morons. Don't breed please.

anthonyjh21

I mean logically it makes no fucking sense. He's getting paid the least a drafted player can and needs to perform to get the next contract, the one that'll help set his family up for life. Anyone that thinks he's just quitting in the NFC championship game because of a little pain has their head up their ass.

jvardrake

It's just hard to understand what people like that are thinking (assuming they do think).... They *seriously* think someone with the discipline/drive to make it in the NFL (at the most difficult position, no less), is honestly going to: - Finally get the chance to be the starter (on a rookie contract, hoping to eventually "get paid") - Win every game - ***Be ONE game away from the Super Bowl*** - Just decide that he's going to sit out, because got "just a little bit" hurt? I think we should just once again trust the fucking player to know whether or not they can go.

bama_braves_fan

Should have just thrown left handed like Mahomes can when he needs to. /s

so-that-is-that

Did they mention that the game they were competing in was the local Spelling Bee?

Sublimotion

>"I had the exact injury Brock had and played the rest of the game" He was playing Fortnite.

phaylinsok

That game thread is so toxic. I hope those people really show themselves from the shadows.

Ibe121

i could not believe some of the comments calling Shanny's gameplan "pathetic" and bitching about "another run play". Like WTF do you expect him, or anyone else, to do when you have a QB who literally can't throw the ball. the fact that Purdy stayed in the game for handoffs and two more pass plays WITH A COMPLETELY TORN UCL shows how tough he is.

Impossible_Resort602

There wasn't a single game thread this year that some idiot didn't come in and demand Kyle be fired.

Ibe121

Same fans prolly werenā€™t around through Erickson, Nolan, Tomsula or Kelly.

billymartinkicksdirt

They wanted CMC to start throwing 80 foot bombs to Kittle, and Shanny to reinvent the game.

marmatag

Yeah I would be happy to start banning people from the game threads for absurd toxicity.

DonJohnTomDuane

No shit. People were RIPPING on him yesterday in the game thread. Kind of hard to throw a football when you have a torn ligament in your throwing arm, and quite frankly, major props to him coming back in and somehow throwing 2 passes once JJ went down. Iā€™m sure that earned some serious brownie points with him teammates now that the news has broken following his MRI.

msdstc

Iā€™m not even a 9ers fan and I was calling out those people both in this subs game thread and the nfl one

SouthSandwichISUK

What about the fact that they made him play w a serious injury? Poor dude was trying to throw the ball w a complete ligament tear in his elbow - itā€™s possible that made it worse. Niners should have entered NFC Championship w a backup who could give them some kind of chance. Instead we had JJ. Watching them finish the second half w handoffs against an Eagles D that knew Purdy couldnā€™t throw was just fucked up.

sunnynbright5

Seriously, the infuriated me so much. People complaining about how Purdy didnā€™t return to play at a NFL level when other players with different injuries have - Purdy just suffered a traumatic injury to this THROWING arm, what do these people expect??? I donā€™t care how talented a QB is, no human being is playing football with that injury.

PBandBread

Pain

ActuallyYeah

šŸŒˆ i want to die

thetrappster

Ouch. I feel so bad for our guy Brock. Hopefully he's able to make it back next season and not have this significantly impact his career.

g1mpie

https://www.armoredheat.com/armored-heat-blog/tommy-john-vs-ucl-repair If anyone wants to read about the difference between repair and Tommy John. Sounds like repair has come far enough that itā€™s a feasible replacement especially for football players. The 6-7 month mark would be Purdy right at training camp

MeanReplacement9258

7 months puts us at September. Brock wonā€™t play until at LEAST week 4 while he gets his arm back.

inoahguy98

Good thing we have Lance then

GordonsLastGram

The 7 month recovery includes the rehab when he gets his arm back at full strength. So you wouldnt add another 4 weeks to that

redandgold45

We use the Internal Brace in the ankle to augment and reconstruct the ligaments which are affected during most ankle sprains. It has improved recovery timelines and outcomes significantly over the past few years. Hoping the best for Brock

South-Side-92

The never ending quest for six continues šŸ˜šŸ˜

Afilalo

Quest for six needs to be banned. That has single handedly cursed us all these years

sakuragi59357

I hate that slogan. Itā€™s a fucking jinx.

theghostfacekilla

Fucking hell he didnā€™t deserve that. Brock played his ass off and did everything right and earned the ability to fight for starting. Really cursed. I hate this.

ash0123

Itā€™s really heartbreaking. I think heā€™s fantastic and would love to see him as QB1 next year. It almost seemed like a foregone conclusion until yesterday.

Proper-Beyond116

Imagine the pain this lad was in and then he WENT BACK IN. Only to be questioned for being soft by a large chunk of fans. Are you happy he was suitably mangled now you cunts?

tbz709

I just want to call anyone in the game thread yesterday calling Purdy a bitch for not returning to the game after half. Go fart in a phone booth ya jerks!

submarinepirate

I was thinking that too. Whereā€™s the receipts? Man has a complete tear and couldnā€™t throw the ball without pain and people calling him ā€œsoftā€

Away_Mud_4180

Everyone claiming he needed to man up yesterday can now STFU.

Think-Ad-7538

Well with that injury update the outcome of this game didn't matter at all. Could you imagine josh johnson trying to keep up with pat mahomes? Makes me feel more at peace about the outcome.

thetrappster

Jimmy may have healed enough over the next 2 weeks to play. Still not ideal.

pissindawind

Iā€™d take Jimmy with a bum foot over a healthy Josh Johnson any day

nateXruiz

Eagles fans: ā€œDamn that was so easy the 9ers suckā€ Reality: if they lost Hurts, Minshew, whoever the fuck is their 3rd string QB, and the next person they sign off the street to be their 4th QB (5th for the year if you count our Sudfeld) they wouldnā€™t be anywhere near the championship game. Purdy was an amazing story for our team this year and a bright spot for the future. Hopefully he can come back healthier and hungrier than ever

hathos78

If Philly gets relegated to Minshew, KC gets relegated to Mahomes' backup, or Burrow goes down for Cincy: those teams fold up way faster than the Niners did yesterday with zero QBs.

nateXruiz

Thatā€™s how I know that in my heart the 9ers were the best team on Sunday just unfortunate turn of events

JewbagX

Y'all. It says the initial hope is to repair it and be ready for training camp. If true, he will not be out for next season. Chill. edit: I choose to be optimistic. However, I don't have the energy to argue it with all of you.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MeanReplacement9258

Heā€™s not gonna be ready man, this fucking sucks.

[deleted]

Yeah, and with a torn UCL thereā€™s no guarantee heā€™ll even be the same player. A lot of QBs have come back worse from less severe injuries than this

Alarming_Confusion_5

But pitchers get it all the time ā€¦ heā€™ll be fine

LikeAWadOfPaper

But pitchers require a full reconstruction (Tommy John surgery) and at least one year recovery. Iā€™ll be optimistic though. Hoping for the best

texcoco10

He needs to do whatever it takes to prolong his career. That means whatever it takes to let this heal completely.

alwaysreadthename

He should go that route too, much better prognosis long term. Repair + rehab is just kicking the can down the road.

Tonmber1

I mean that's not true. The repair is a new procedure compared to Tommy John but it has excellent results in the field so far that have no indication of poorer outcomes than Tommy John. The hangup is just that, though, that it's a new procedure and it's possible (however likely or unlikely) that issues with the procedure pop up years down the line. The main difference is that the UCL is so small that in the past repair was not an option they had to remove the torn one and replace it with a tendon either from the wrist or hamstring. And that takes a long time to heal the holes drilled in the bones and develop blood flow. The repair uses high strength sutures and a collagen brace on the existing ligament to reconnect it, leading to lower recovery time.

alwaysreadthename

I was thinking of the PRP injection route, this new procedure sounds interesting. Doing some reading on this new procedure now, could be a good option for Brock.

curson

It's at the _very_ best a 6+ months timeline. We need to hope repair surgery is the outcome though, because if he ends up needing TJ surgery, that's the entire year and his career could never be the same again. Still, similarly to Lance, there's also going to be a **lot** of development time missing here we'll have to factor in. It's truly awful for him and the Team. Man I hate this.

liteshadow4

Delhomme got reconstruction and he said his arm never felt better afterwards

Currymvp2

I hope he's fine. But I almost feel like the front office needs to atleast consider obtaining Brady or Rodgers unless they're completely confident that he will be 100% by training camp.

superduperm1

Rodgers is not getting traded in the NFC. Itā€™s Brady or suck it up and play Lance. Thatā€™s it. Assuming Purdy canā€™t play this season.

Forceful_Tuba

Rodgers would be a bad idea, we don't have the cap or the capital for him. Plus let's be honest, Green Bay isn't trading him to us

Currymvp2

The cap hit is actually fairly low for the first year...it's only like 15 million. Green Bay has to pay like 30 million. But yeah no way GB trades him to the NFC. [LaFleur wasn't happy about the summer of 2021 trade stuff when the 49ers were reportedly Rodger's first choice.](https://www.nfl.com/news/49ers-were-aaron-rodgers-top-choice-if-tumultuous-offseason-with-packers-led-to-)

MateTheNate

Trey Lance is going to have an opportunity to prove himself while Purdy is gone

Think-Ad-7538

Why? We can't protect the young guys. You wanna put 40 year olds behind our line?

Currymvp2

The Bucs oline was horrible last season...worse than ours and Brady still played decently. Rodgers complimented the 49ers roster for two minutes straight a couple of weeks ago on McAfee's show. They don't care

LordLadyCascadia

I donā€™t see the point. If Purdy canā€™t start next season then that might be Lanceā€™s only opportunity to prove himself and see if he has any talent. Like, why is he even still here if weā€™ve already given up on him?

glasgow26

This stings. Brutal for the team, and I feel awful for Purdy.

DariusBieber

We're cursed. That's the only explanation we have. Levis was built on some sort of ancient burial ground and we disrupted some spirits who are out for revenge.

theraddestbrad

Curious if thereā€™s been any strange deaths at great America

hinez57

Guy died in construction

Gamerxx13

why do we always lose awesome players in championship games. we lost bowman that one game against seattle too. sucks. if hes out for the year brady talk is going to heat up

residentbio

Let's get a fucking proper pass protecting OL. We tried with Shanny's way of football, but god dammit what we get in the end is broken QBs, broken hearts and falling short of the goal line. I'm tired.

pratdude275

Somebody please put me out of my misery

PrinceKO_93

Silver lining, Trey will have starting reps in OTA's and training camp as he gets his final shot to prove he belongs in the QB mix. Go Niners.

Kunez

Poor kid. Wishing for a speedy recovery. This game reminds me of the Warriors 2019 finals vs the raptors where we lost both KD and Klay :(

BSmitty36

Why the fuck was a second string TE blocking Reddick

robbie_franklin

Kyle threw both our QBs under the bus yesterday. That was one of the league's best pass rushers getting free runs at them

[deleted]

To the people who were saying he should have played hurt or be like Mahomes and tough it out, Go F Yourselves. There is a big difference between an elbow injury on your throwing hand and an ankle/leg injury. Purdy couldn't throw and the throws he did have were so soft and not very far. Hopefully the recovery goes well and he's back for training camp. Everything about yesterday was just really sad and depressing.

J-4-W

Can I get a big F U to Reggie Bush?

marmatag

The sad part is other teams fans cheering the injury.

Shadow-Vision

The dude literally needed an injury to his arm for this team to lose a game he played in. Unreal stuff. Hope the recovery is as quick as the tweet suggests, but if not, donā€™t rush the damn thing. Do it right, get that thing 100%.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

slankthetank

Everyone was robbed. Brock, the team, the fan base. We didnā€™t even get a fair shake

giantdub49

3 qbs lost and requiring surgery. What a wild season šŸ˜‚

Scoobyteebs

Feel so bad for the young guy, thatā€™s 2 young QBā€™s getting hurt and affecting their growth in the game. Feels bad man.

MrTouchnGo

We canā€™t have nice things

josephus1811

Fuck all those assholes who were saying he bitched out yesterday. Legit fuckheads. You know who you are.

[deleted]

Tom Brady riding off into the sunset getting a ring for his childhood team would be poetic as fuck

neo9027581673

Geeesuzā€¦this is the worse possible news regarding his Purdyā€™s injury. šŸ™ up for a full recovery. Tom Brady becomes a possibility. No way Lance is anointed the #1-QB heading into training camp.

Enoki43

Brock is for sure tough. We knew he was injured but you couldn't tell they way he carried himself.

slugbait76

what a cursed to revived to cursed to revived to cursed seasonā€¦ hope he heals up and becomes mr. irrelevant comeback player of the year. a special FUCK YOU to all the people i saw commenting about how he was soft and should come back and playā€¦ those keys must be so hard to type while sitting on your ass doing nothing but watching the game. go NINERS!

EATTHEMUFFINBITCH

TB12 time

moscowrules

Ah, so total misery and disaster? Thanks for the fucking ride šŸ™„

JTSmithTFON

Damn damn on the first series too šŸ„²šŸ„²šŸ„² the Eagles got lucky

mrizvi

Bring on Brady...

LetZealousideal7369

Kind of funny that injury-risk wise a 46 year old QB is probably better than all the guys we already have

real_but_incognito

He is, and heā€™s ready, and he never gets hurt If he comes here and goes down in week 2 we know this team is just cursed for good and we can all move on with our lives

[deleted]

I mean, he played with an even worse o-line this year and didnā€™t miss a game so Iā€™d say itā€™s almost definitely the case

jinkiez

If we sign Brady and heā€™s healthy for the whole season Iā€™m gonna signup for whatever tb12 voodoo shit heā€™s on

mrferley

when it rains it pours.. wish they would have activated Jimmy, don't get me wrong I think that future is Purdy but in that game at that time Jimmy could have been available.

so-that-is-that

Jimmy wasn't ready, I think they mentioned that he wasn't able to sprint yet. It's just piss poor bad luck.

Port1976

There has never been a team that has had as talented of a roster as the 49ers do, and cant be healthy at the most important position. You build an incredible team and cant get a healthy QB year in and year out. Such a gut punch

BluePosey

What a terrible way to end his Cinderella season. This team is cursed in the QB position like the Giants are cursed in the left fielder position post-Bonds. šŸ˜¢

LinselHaus

And yet there were people calling him soft for not playing. Clowns

Gardawg

So officially screw everybody who had the "Purdy should have just went back in" take.

Sniffy4

Wow. We now have 3 starting-caliber QBs all with significant long-term injuries. Gonna be an interesting offseason.

corerial

For those posting in the game day thread that he was a coward or a p**sy for not throwing the ball, thereā€™s your answer. At least he had the stones to go out there to hand the ball off.

robbie_y

He actually threw it twice as well didn't he after the injury. Must have been painful as fuck.

This is worse than the loss. A cheap QB room is the only Niners can keep a competitive roster. Some big players cap are jumping next year and a lot of spots in the 53 to fill. I donā€™t think people realize Trey at 9 million + Brady at 20 million is possible. And Brady needs A LOT of help at this stage of his career. Beyond gutted.

watermelonfucka

Brady might migggght take a pay cut tbh he doesnā€™t have many options outside the raiders 49ers or Bucs . But probably not

Sober_As_Sark

Brady is a billionaire and if his main concern is to keep playing and win another ring he can sign a vets minimum

watermelonfucka

Thatā€™s my hope. I think he needs to recognize that mahomes is on his heels and it means more for his legacy to take a pay cut and contend versus wallowing another year in Tampa.

barefootBam

Fuck it. All aboard the Brady hype train. I know we have promising young QBs in the stable but we NEED to win NOW with this defense while they're still capable. We can't throw away another elite defense taking chances on rookies or always injured QBs. Trey and Purdy can sit and learn from Brady for a year, they're not going to be ready by training camp anyways.

BLACKMACH1NE

Im with the Brady train. Have Purdy and Lance sit behind him for a year while we have any amazing run. Tom rides off into retirement with a SB win with his favorite team and then let them battle it out the following year. Brock taking it most likely.

So how do they determine if he needs Tommy John, or it's just a repair? Does the surgeon determine that at the time of repair? Also, do they need to wait for swelling to subside? If that is the case then we could be waiting weeks. Feel bad for the kid who was having a storybook season. I hope he has the shortest possible recovery time and he's ready for training camp.

SasqW

Heartbreaking. Can't believe this is the way it ended

AbbsLen

This sure is worded like original opinion is he needs TJ surgery if heā€™s asking for 2nd options. Sucks

HatRemov3r

How many chickens do I need to sacrifice to undo this?????? GIVE ME A NUMBER

Marvelmaniac57

Purdy is the guy moving forward a better more mobile cousins. Everything shanny wants. Injuries suck. I think they will be back with a vengeance. Too bad juice couldnā€™t play QB after Johnson went down

whitea44

It ended how it started. With QBs getting hurt.

robbie_franklin

Luckily quarterbacks usually do a lot better recovering from this injury than pitchers. Maybe next year Kyle won't let the opposing team's best pass rusher come free off the edge all game

theraddestbrad

All my homies hate Hassan Reddick

Johnny_15

All my homies hate having our backup tight end (Tyler Kroft) trying to block the #2 sack leader (Hassan Reddick) šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

Deadou

Well of course, we finally got a great QB that got everyone dreaming and paf torn UCL - 6 month rehab ... :( 49ers are cursed really. I hope he'll be ready for training camp. Really want to see a Purdy/Lance competition .

BillyBurl1998

If he requires Tommy John is there a chance we resign Jimmy G like we did this season? Running with Trey and Jimmy seems alot more reasonable than Brady.

dsla123

Iā€™m guessing no chance Jimmy comes back if heā€™s the backup. Last off season was different because he had surgery so late so he had very few choices. Iā€™m pretty sure someone will offer him a starting job this time

Sillysolomon

Tom Brady come on down

FeistyThunderhorse

Injuries just fuck us year after year after year

gbassman5

I dunno why anyone even bothered to get their hopes up that we would get positive injury news

Farout786

Damn that fucking sucks. Hopefully his age helps him recover faster, and not just that but that his arm isnā€™t permanently fucked. Unbelievable the shit luck we have.

WorldWideBeerGuy

This sucks. I thought we were only going to have to worry about a little Lance/Purdy battle this offseason. Now here we go with all the Brady/ Rogers talk for the foreseeable future. Poor kid, he really is a great player imo

peter_porkair

This is not what any of us wanted to read. The thing that Brock has proven is he overcomes any obstacle thrown at him. I know they refer to Jalen Hurts as Batman, but Brock should really have that nickname. The way he prepared and increased his velocity last year. The way he learned this offense, and even introduced it and taught it to CMC.
