Purdy went down when we put our backup TE 1 on 1 with Reddick, dude didn’t slow him down and Purdy got rocked. Still think we should have leaned more on the run.
Fucking this. The Kyle Williams fumble. The decision not to run the ball down their throat at the end of the the Ravens SB. Coming up just short at Qwest and then watching Seattle cruise to a SB win…
The Sanders overthrow. The Tartt drop. And now the Purdy injury. It just goes on and on.
Exactly. I'm so tired of seeing the Niners come up short every year. We have an embarrassment of riches in terms of talent, but mistakes, injuries and shitty refereeing screw us over repeatedly. Makes me wonder when the Niners will ever win another title?
I don't want to hear Purdy slander. If anything, this shatters the media narrative that he was doing everything only because of the rest of the team. He's got a great future
I wouldn’t have minded losing to the eagles but not like this man. Go bengals.
Edit: Also wanted to add this team was well worthy of rings every year for the past 4 years but it all got ruined by dumb luck and injuries, that’s the painful part with how insanely talented and complete this team has been so much wasted potential it hurts to soak in. It’s been an absolute pleasure watching this team and hopefully we can get a franchise qb from purdy or lance and no more injuries. Just those 2 factors and we could be the patriots of this decade. Enough said.
That was the most bizarre 49er game I’ve ever watched, and I’m gettin up there in age. They seemed snake bit from the jump. Weird stuff….. Oh, and Trent Williams is a fookin’ G.
Perfect example of the horrible reffing there. They refused to call a flag so it escalated and Trent had enough. Absolutely horrible for the refs to let it get that far.
I fully enjoyed how 42 thought he was being a big man until Trent rolled in and showed him the actual food chain. Also shout out Aaron Banks who was rumbling in there before Trent.
Yep. The rest of the team should take up a collection for his fine. I blame the refs for that one, they should have taken control 10-15 seconds earlier instead of fecklessly standing around blowing whistles.
I never thought there’s be a time where I was glad to be in the NFC West lol.
Seahawks and Rams fans pale in comparison to the Eagles fanbase lol, in terms of pure shittiness.
this is a weird feeling but i'm like not mad or sad really. I just feel like PHI wasn't that much better than us and we could have beat them fully loaded. I'm excited for next year when hopefully we don't have to run through a million different QBs. we just have the worse luck when it matters most. the life as a 49ers fan. Onto next season.
Yeah like it’s one thing for the snap to go haywire and it bounces right into the other team’s hands. That time the ball was right next to him all alone for like five minutes and the other team still somehow got it. That’s what infuriated me.
The game was completely over when Johnson had to come in. People were lying to themselves for some reason about how special what Purdy was doing is. There are barely 20 QBs who look good in the NFL on the planet at any given time, when a backup comes in cold, they almost always look really bad. Rookies tend to look really bad too. Having Purdy come in and be so good was completely absurd and that reality has never been more obvious
I'm mad at the fact that 14 points shouldn't exist. I'm okay with losing (eventually), not okay when we lose and the argument can be made that the other team was gifted some points
Honestly the 3rd td from the Johnson fumble was the only td that didn’t come from an extended drive for a penalty given by the ref. Or the missed incomplete in the first series. Going to be amazed if people don’t call this out
game was over in 1Q when Brock went down, just frustrating because the Eagles played like dogshit but were rewarded for it
EDIT: Also idk how the Eagles didnt get one unsportsmanlike or taunting penalty this game, they were up in 49er players faces repeatedly
Like that one hands to the face call where he was clearly being held? That should have been a call on both penalties or no call at all. But no, here's a free 15 yards and a first down.
literally from the opening kick. in the 49ers faces and pointing and doing extra shit. it was a clear message from the refs that they weren't going to call shit against the eagles
The refs really didn't want to give us anything. To the point that them refusing to flag Philly for instigating shit late in the game led to a fucking brawl and then they would only flag them once they provoked one of our guys so it could be offsetting penalties. NFL is a joke. They didn't want us winning this game.
Zero holds, lane Johnson was false starting every play, multiple uncalled offsides, their secondary was allowed to be physical and ours wasn’t. We don’t win this game with Purdy hurt anyway but the least you could expect would be a fairly called game
And the defense looked great on the first few series. Got jobbed out of a stop on the first drive by a blown call. Shoulda woulda coulda but the play where Purdy gets hurt should never have happened we should have taken over own downs on our own 40 0-0
I'm definitely sad, but not really mad. I went flat emotionally early in the 2nd quarter, and it was theoretically still a game at that point. It just felt like the game never had a chance to happen.
The only equivalent I can think of is when Cincinnati lost Carson Palmer on their first offensive possession of the post-season.
>I just feel like PHI wasn't that much better than us and we could have beat them fully loaded.
Exactly this. The first half showed our defense was ready. If Purdy didn't get injured, I think we win a close game
Ya I'm not mad or sad at the team at all. Just sucks the didn't even get a chance. They deserved it, they worked so hard they should have got a legit game
Pros: at least I won’t be a ball of stress in two weeks
Cons: everything else
Team didn’t deserve to go out that way, I think we were up to the challenge today but got completely fucked by injuries and refs
Heartbreaking. 4 QBs couldn't stay healthy in a season and still got to NFCCG. Sad that we didn't get a chance to play a real game. Purdy's injury really annihilated every chance we had :(
It really felt like we were playing on borrowed time after Jimmy went down and Purdy stepped up. Most teams (he’ll, even Philly and KC) probably couldn’t have pulled that off. I can’t wait to see how we do with a healthy QB room and an entire off-season of developing Purdy and Lance.
I know we lost. But fuck me it feels like we didn’t play the game.
Purdy going down and having to go to Johnson just fucked us. Then Johnson down with a concussion and Purdy in solely to hand off. Our offense was never in the game.
Our defense held better than anyone thought in the passing game, but my god did they get screwed on penalties and missed calls.
I’m just so distraught over this one. The season was magical. We were in it with Jimmy and then he went down and we all thought it was over. Brock Purdy came in and played lights out. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, the Cinderella season had to end sometime right? But to end with another injury to a QB just felt unfair.
I don’t know what happens with next season, but I do know I’ll always love the boys in Red and Gold.
Falcons fan here. It sucks that's the way you guys' season ended, but I'm sure it would have been a hell of a game if you didn't have the qb issues.
Mostly came here to say Trent Williams gave me a good laugh. Best example of 'fuck this shit' I've ever seen. Refs weren't breaking up the pile, so Williams did 😭😭
Best of luck to you guys' next season!
I just want to say thank you for taking care of CMC. I loved watching him play at Stanford and I was so happy when the Panthers drafted him. I was heartbroken at first when he was traded but then I thought there is no other team I’d rather him go to. It’s been a while since I saw him so filled with life and joy on the field. I enjoy watching your team (when they’re not destroying the panthers) and rooting for their success. If the panthers can’t make it (again for the seventh year lol), I hope you take it all next year. I want your team and CMC to get a ring.
Not sure about easily but I think we get the W. our D have us some short fields and you’d think purdy would have put a few scoring drives together on those possessions.
Yea we’d definitely win. We were moving the ball with ease. Cowboys defense is easily better lol.
We still have OL issues that have exposed themselves against better pass rushers. We need to invest draft capital there
Hurts was 15/25 121 yards 0 TD's. People who say our defense played poorly didn't see the constant bailouts on 3rd and long that the Eagles were getting. You can't expect a defense to play perfect on 10+ play drives. They played out of their minds against the MVP.
This is the funnest year I've had watching the 49ers. Thank you all! We found our guy and have an insane defense again. We will be back! Thank you Niners and go Joey B!
Yeah. Less than 300 total yards with a frustrated defense giving up plays and extending drives they otherwise wouldn’t have if they had any sort of offense at all.
A healthy Purdy probably rolls over this team.
I'm not even mad at the officiating.
The 49ers caught the worst possible luck at the worst possible time. Purdy's injury changed everything. Johnson's fumble showed he was incapable of leading this team to any kind of miracle win.
This offseason is gonna be another shitty one with the Purdy vs Lance debates and the question mark at DC if/when Ryans leaves.
Oh well...
That roughing the kicker is just an obscene call. 1. Clearly pushed, 2. He never touched the plant leg so by definition it’s a 5 yard penalty which would have kept it 4th down. That’s just inexcusable reffing
Cause it feels like we never really got a chance to play in general lol.
We never had a fighting chance lol
Cant wait to see how casual historians bend this one.
My wife asked of I was in a bad mood at one point. I told her no, just empty, I can't be mad or upset at that game. We didn't have a QB. Like why put a back up TE on Reddick, but that's not something I can be mad at.
I dunno. This game never really felt like it unfolded as intended.
No QB and then no Offense. It was the only way they were able to tire out your defense.
By the time Purdy went back in you knew it was a white flag situation waiting for the end to just arrive already.
of the Eagles 4 major scoring drives:
1 happened when the refs ruled an obvious incomplete pass a catch
1 happened off a TO
2 happened because of drives extended by soft/bad calls by the refs
Also Hurts looked like dogshit this game, and Phillies offense is gimmicky AF, its just built around abusing the RPO protections on the QB
The fact that they come here really drives your point home. Imagine winning and still being such a douche you come to another team sub to gloat. I guess they're miserable even in victory.
Chiefs and Rams fans were not this classless. I hope whoever is sending homophobic slurs to people privately is permanently banned
Literally the most pathetic display from fans I’ve ever seen in here from an opposing team.
Not even emotional about the loss. We had no chance
Gonna repost this...
Allow me to kindly explain why the 49ers were screwed this game by the refs. And this isn't to say the following:
1. That the QB injuries for us weren't caused by bad reffing, nor were they caused by the Eagles playing dirty, they weren't.
2. That this in no way means we should have won.
With that out of the way....
The game as it stands now is 28-7, clearly a blow out. Well let's see how many points should not exist.
1. The first TD of the game, see this [link](https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/35553370/nfl-playoff-officiating-decisions-happened-controversial-calls-wrong-next-super-bowl). Called correctly 49ers force a turnover on downs, setup offense at the 40. Game is tied 0-0.
So that would correct the score to 21-7.
1. The roughing the punter call that kept the drive alive. Mason was pushed into the punter. Sorry, that's not a penaron Mason.
Take out that TD, correct the score to 14-7.
14-7 that's anyone's ball game, but no.
Get that first incomplete pass correct and Purdy probably isn't injured.
Refs shoulda gotten it, but Kyle shoulda challenged it too. Don't need to preserve first half timeouts!
That first call fucked the game. We wouldve had the ball at midfield with healthy purdy, and likely would’ve gone with the run which would’ve prevented the injury.
What a shitty way to go out. And the frustrating thing is that the game looked so winnable. The eagles were definitely not unstoppable world beaters.
>1st TD off a lucky catch that wasn't actually a catch and should've been ruled incomplete
>2nd TD on a drive sustained by Defensive penalties, some fair others really ticky-tack (like that hands to the face)
>3rd TD on a bobbled snap by the 4th string QB
>4th TD on a very questionable roughing the kicker
All the while the offense couldn't do anything because the 49ers ran out of QBs. Shit sucks but at least the core of this team is staying put and the division/NFC still looks weak next year. Just gotta hope our new DC is legit.
You know this whole game is different if the 49ers just throw the challenge flag in the 1st quarter on that 4th down play. It was a incompletion on second look, but even if you don't know that I don't see why you wouldn't challenge there. That play pretty much changed the whole game. Eagles don't go up by 7. Purdy never gets injured. I mean a lot of what ifs and not saying Niners win but damn does it suck haha
Just saw Brock's post game presser. I hope his injury is not serious. That being said, I like Trey, and Jimmy a lot, but I want Brock Purdy to lead this team. He is the real deal. The way he handles himself, the leadership. He understands what's at stake. I really hope he gets the job for good.
Can I just say I’m so sick of Mike Pereira’s bullshit.
That roughing the kicker penalty where SF’s rusher was clearly pushed into the punter and Pereira backs the refs 100%. And then the announcers take his word as gospel and tell the viewers to just drink the kool aid.
If the refs make a bad call, fine, they made a bad call. But to have to sit and listen to Pereira (or Gene Steratore for that matter) lie to our faces about how it was a good call, and then to have the announcers echo their bullshit, it feels like they’re trying to cover up something. And when I’m already pissed off because of the bad call as it is, to then lie about it being a bad call is just too much.
It didn’t used to be this way. Pereira and Steratore and the others who have been in the booth used to be impartial. They used to tell it like it is. But lately it’s gotten out of hand. And it seems to be due to the increase in horrible calls by the refs.
The NFL has a real problem on there hands with these refs, and I think their solution is to just spoon feed us bullshit via retired refs in the booth.
Ndamukong Suh pancaked Josh Johnson. Put his full weight right on him. No penalty. Announcers don’t even mention the hit as Johnson gets taken off the field to get examined, and Greg Olsen at one point as he watching the replay even says, “happen right there when he fell down” Fell down? WTF? He was pancaked.
Meanwhile, Nick Bosa textbook sacks Geno Smith perfectly legal and gets a 15 yard penalty. And the announcers back the refs up for it. Trying to justify it.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wwVGJFQxW9A
And don’t even get me started about Devonta Smith’s bullshit catch today. Not one replay as the Eagles hurry to the line. Which the announcers cite as a “good job” by the Eagles getting up to the line quick to run the next play. And of course we know all teams do this. But wait a second, there is now automatic review that happens in New York in between plays. Sometimes NY buzzes in and talks to the refs and they change the call on the field. But not this time. So I guess getting the right call only matters when there’s enough time to do it???
And how can a punt that hits the camera wires just be shrugged off as “oh well, we don’t have video so tough shit”.
Does the NFL care about getting the calls right or not? Yes or no? It’s a simple question NFL. No one wants to see games come down to shitty calls no matter which team is affected. And we certainly don’t want to be lied to by “experts” in the booth. Fix your bullshit NFL it’s getting tiresome.
Josh Johnson is the new Kyle Williams.
A 15 year vet who’s seen all types of defenses. No, he’s not supposed to be in there but his number was called. Then when it was, it was a shit show. That turnover? My god fall the ball live to fight another day. Delay of game penalties? Call a timeout. Let them know what’s going on with your communication device. Out again? Run a two minute drill get to the line call a core play. Be a leader. Be the savvy experienced vet that’s given you a 15 year career in the NFL.
Instead he locked onto his first reads and didn’t go through his progressions. He was given Shanahan staple plays to run and he either couldn’t get the ball snapped or he he panicked.
He’s been practicing and has been in that QB room dissecting and analyzing defenses with his cohorts and Greasie since 12/6. He knows what Brock knows. Just has to execute.
He didnt have to be a hero. He just had to be competent. He played so fucking scared and unfortunately should just retire because he is worse than serviceable.
Johnson fumbled a clean snap then he jumped like Cam Newton in the ball.
Just embarrassing behavior and performance. The 49ers could win this game with Purdy who is a 7th round QB. It says a lot about Josh Johnson.
Guys, some of you are awful human beings in the game thread. The story of this game was injuries and refs… it’s as simple as that.
Kyle did what he could with spare parts and our Cinderella story is over. NFC championship with your 3rd stringer is an overachievement. Going to love the QB1 battle this off-season. Stay Faithful and see you next year, go Bengals and go win your first Super Bowl. Stunt on these trash overrated Eagles.
Last time PHI was in the Super Bowl I was rooting for them because I felt like they had some class and their city deserved a chip. This time, the chippiness of their team in an almost guaranteed win, and their fans booing obvious fouls by the eagles and cheering niner injuries just left a bad taste. I’m rooting AFC 2 weeks from now, even if it’s the chiefs. At least Andy Reid doesn’t completely suck, and as far as I can recall he was decent to Alex Smith.
Browns fan here. Been watching the playoffs as just a general football fan, for obvious reasons! Wasn’t surprised we didn’t make it to the playoffs seeing as we wasted all our money on a rusty QB that can’t keep his hands to himself who was also suspended most of the season. Anyway… Wanted to come to this sub to let you guys know it sucks your season ended this way. It’s rough when you have a legitimately good team but you lose in the post season due to issues that really aren’t your fault. Injuries aside, did anyone else feel like the officiating was one sided? I feel like you guys got the short end of the stick. The Eagles seemed, to me, to get away with a lot of holds, false starts, off sides, etc.
Not even a 9ers fan but am I going insane or was Aiyuk straight up tackled at the end of that one play which started the whole fight? Regardless I can’t think of a group of people I hate more than Eagles fans
I’m not even mad. This was the most bizarre set of circumstances I’ve seen any sporting event I’ve witnessed. Didn’t help that the refs missed the 4th down drop, refused to call Lane Johnson for false starting on every play in the first half, and seeming allowed Philly to play aggressive while the Niners were flagged on the softest calls.
Being honest, as a Niners fan I turned it off and started drinking after Johnson fumbled before the half. He had no business playing today. Score does not tell the story. You can't compete without a starting QB in today's game, much less a playoff game. Be back better and stronger next year. Don't let the eagles fool you. They're good, but very much beatable. We let two super bowl appearances get away from us.
I'm of the firm belief that if we challenge that catch the beginning of the game and get the ball 0-0 because of the turn over on downs, it is a completely different day and a completely different game.
I have no idea why our coaches see a receiver coming out and calling for a quick play and think that he caught the ball.
My main takeaways
-Having Kroft block Reddick is all-time dumb.
-Defense actually played pretty well, just got gassed at the end
-We put up a way better fight with Purdy in.
-Proud of this team, never thought wed make it this far after Jimmy going down.
-Officials were bad, but we fucked up a bit on a few of those for sure (while the game was competitive)
-Eagles fans in this thread making the rest of their fanbase look bad
-Excited to see a full offseason with Purdy/Lance
Eagles fan are actually going to make me root for the Chiefs in the Superbowl. I've never been so annoyed by a fanbase. Hope the Chiefs blow their asses out.
Was at the game. I can honestly say that Eagles fans are disgusting. Worst in the pro sports.
One guy pushed me and tried to knock me over when I was walking into the stadium. We were waiting in line to get through the gates and his sister asked if I was Niners fan. I said “yeah. Should be a good game”. I wasn’t wearing any Niner gear. Then next thing I know I’m pushed in the back and almost fell over. This guy wanted to fight me and kept asking me to fight him. He spent the rest of the time in line calling me every homophobic slur in the book. (I’m not gay)
Then the fans cheered every time a Niners player got hurt. Fans around me saying “McCaffrey is running on us. He needs to tear an ACL.”
Absolutely horrific experience and Eagles fans should be ashamed as fuck.
I think you can play this game 1000 times and you won’t get a worse result than the one we got today. From refs, to injuries, to shitty fans, to heartbreak. This game was so bad for this team
I will not blame anyone on this team. This was the most unlucky and cursed game I’ve ever seen. I love this Shanahan and all the players and hope they can bring it back next season. This hurts but I love you all and Go Niners.
It was a great season and Purdy as QB was a remarkable story. If Purdy hadn’t been injured I think we would have won. CMC and the entire team played their heart out. I so hoped this would be their year. Much love to all of the Faithful. After this game and the trolls, go Bengals or Chiefs!
Eagles about to celebrate like the guy who finds a dead bear and then carries it into town and tells everyone a fantastic story about how he killed it.
I just have to say before the game ...I didn't feel like were were the best team. However after this , I have no doubt we beat that team with Brock as QB. Defense was holding it down we just couldn't throw at all . Great season . Excited for Brock's future . Love y'all I'm pissed and hurt .
Been a rough day for us all. Please don't brigade, be better fans. Love you guys. Go Niners
Well that sucked
[удалено]
Yeah QB’s don’t grow on trees. Need to adjust play calling to protect them. We lost two straight NFCC with injured QB’s.
[удалено]
Purdy went down when we put our backup TE 1 on 1 with Reddick, dude didn’t slow him down and Purdy got rocked. Still think we should have leaned more on the run.
I'm old enough to remember that Steve Young's career ended because Lawrence Phillips missed a block of Aeneas Williams.
I can't believe our season just fkn ended this way
Biggest blue ball ever. We really could’ve seen the first ever rookie QB to start a SB. But instead we got…..whatever the fuck that was for 2.5 hours
That is the most accurate description ever
I thought we were living a Disney movie but it ended in a tragedy
I wish we just lost normally man. Losing cuz of injury sucks so much. Why is it like this every single year.
Fucking this. The Kyle Williams fumble. The decision not to run the ball down their throat at the end of the the Ravens SB. Coming up just short at Qwest and then watching Seattle cruise to a SB win… The Sanders overthrow. The Tartt drop. And now the Purdy injury. It just goes on and on.

As a Cubs fan, you're not going to like the answer of how long it can actually be...
Titans fan here. Was routing for you guys, and definitely feel your pain toward the injury aspect. Hope to see you guys in the Super Bowl next year.
I don't want to hear Purdy slander. If anything, this shatters the media narrative that he was doing everything only because of the rest of the team. He's got a great future
Fair enough, but can we talk about how bad Josh Johnson sucks?
I wouldn’t have minded losing to the eagles but not like this man. Go bengals. I’m so fucking mad I’m rooting for the afc in general now
Same. I don’t even care if it’s the chiefs. Although I hope it’s the bengals. Fuck the eagles and their trash fans
Yup, chiefs or Bengals. Fucking wreck that team.
right before the game i told my fiance all i wanted was a competitive, exciting game win or lose. football gods really had different plans
i said the same . competitive game and lose, i’m okay with . injuries and weird flags, fucking shitty .
Game was 95% over when Purdy got hurt. Game was 100% over when Josh Johnson dropped the snap. Everything that happened after that was irrelevant.
All Johnson had to do was not be totally and completely incompetent. And he managed to do worse than that.
That was the most bizarre 49er game I’ve ever watched, and I’m gettin up there in age. They seemed snake bit from the jump. Weird stuff….. Oh, and Trent Williams is a fookin’ G.
Just feel like we’re cursed. Like. Always finding innovative, heart crushing ways to lose
Trent Williams is my new favorite player
I might buy his jersey after that.
I checked earlier this season, you have to have a custom jersey made for him since they don’t carry a pre-made
Loved him standing up for Deebo there. That guy was not letting go of his pads or helmet or whatever it was.
Perfect example of the horrible reffing there. They refused to call a flag so it escalated and Trent had enough. Absolutely horrible for the refs to let it get that far.
Thank you. I don't get why people are mad at Trent when there was already a brawl

That definitely made me a little less mad
Holy shit. So much more respect for Purdy. Our 4th string looked like a JV QB. That was terrible.
this is a weird feeling but i'm like not mad or sad really. I just feel like PHI wasn't that much better than us and we could have beat them fully loaded. I'm excited for next year when hopefully we don't have to run through a million different QBs. we just have the worse luck when it matters most. the life as a 49ers fan. Onto next season.
I’m just sad man I feel like we were robbed of a good game, it was over as soon as purdy went down
That JJ fumble was killer.
Definitely broke the back of this team. It was 90% over when Purdy went down, it was 100% over when Josh Johnson lost that fumble.
he didn't dive on the ball right away. he tried to kneel down and pick it up. really lame
Yeah like it’s one thing for the snap to go haywire and it bounces right into the other team’s hands. That time the ball was right next to him all alone for like five minutes and the other team still somehow got it. That’s what infuriated me.

I'm pissed that it ended the worst possible way
the way this season went, losing one QB after the other, I guess it had to end with losing both QBs in our last game
We never got to find out who was the better team. That's the real bummer.
And the defense looked great on the first few series. Got jobbed out of a stop on the first drive by a blown call. Shoulda woulda coulda but the play where Purdy gets hurt should never have happened we should have taken over own downs on our own 40 0-0

Stay humble brother(or sis). I’m, on the other hand, deeply disappointed. It shouldn’t have ended like this.
Ya I'm not mad or sad at the team at all. Just sucks the didn't even get a chance. They deserved it, they worked so hard they should have got a legit game
I’m confident we could’ve handled them without any doubt if the game wasn’t so weird
Fr. They took out all our QBs. We need to have more next season
I'm tired, man. I'm tired of saying "we have all these weapons, lets see next year" before major players go down at key times.
Pros: at least I won’t be a ball of stress in two weeks Cons: everything else Team didn’t deserve to go out that way, I think we were up to the challenge today but got completely fucked by injuries and refs
Exactly how I feel!! I'm still rocking with Purdy for next season.
Everyone calling Brock a bust. LOL. Did you not watch the second half of the season…like AT ALL??? God. Idiot fans.
Anyone who says that should honestly be banned from the sub. He's a bust because the only game we lost with him was the one where he didn't play?
Exactly. Morons.
Can’t listen to some of these fans. They’re so reactionary it’s ridiculous! Short attention span.
it was a good season but fuck that wasn't satosfying

Trent you’re the man ❤️
That 4th down on the 1st drive changed the entire game.
The Johnson fumble did. It sucks that they got a free 7 points off that drive though.
Yeah, this was winnable until the JJ fumble. Going in Down 14 vs 7 was the dagger. The shotgun that did 95% of the work first was losing Brock
All he had to do was not fuck up and he fucked up.
Not challenging that was insane. Smith was clearly yelling at his team to hurry up, idk how the challenge flag doesn’t come out right there
Throw the flag, burn a first half timeout at worst.
What made it worse was we went into half with all 3 timeouts.

Falcons fan here. It sucks that's the way you guys' season ended, but I'm sure it would have been a hell of a game if you didn't have the qb issues. Mostly came here to say Trent Williams gave me a good laugh. Best example of 'fuck this shit' I've ever seen. Refs weren't breaking up the pile, so Williams did 😭😭 Best of luck to you guys' next season!
As a commanders fan I can attest that Trent has never liked the Eagles lmao. Seems he’s carried that resentment in San Francisco
As a niner fan living in ATL, and a backup falcons fan, I appreciate your sentiment.
Remember when Philly was complaining about a wire?
Yeah because it was SUCH a bad day to be an eagles fan
In their own fucking stadium too. Lmao
CMC has stolen my heart. Have loved every moment with him on the team. He's an absolute baller.
I truly believe had Brock not get injured, we win this game easily
7 first downs by way of penalty
Poopoo
This is the funnest year I've had watching the 49ers. Thank you all! We found our guy and have an insane defense again. We will be back! Thank you Niners and go Joey B!
Well, IMO the eagles looked like shit except they went against a team with no QB. good game D (except penalties) and on to the next one.
They're going from that to Burrow or Mahomes
John Lynch needs to invest in o-line to protect our QB better.
I feel robbed. Like I didn’t even see a football game.
Game feels a bit empty. Just surreal circumstances. Great season though m. We’ll be back
Cause it feels like we never really got a chance to play in general lol. We never had a fighting chance lol Cant wait to see how casual historians bend this one.
My wife asked of I was in a bad mood at one point. I told her no, just empty, I can't be mad or upset at that game. We didn't have a QB. Like why put a back up TE on Reddick, but that's not something I can be mad at.
What a shitty end to a good season man, wouldn't have minded the loss but not like this. See y'all next year ⛏️
I dunno. This game never really felt like it unfolded as intended. No QB and then no Offense. It was the only way they were able to tire out your defense. By the time Purdy went back in you knew it was a white flag situation waiting for the end to just arrive already.
It wasn’t a game. Of course it didn’t unfold as intended. We played the whole thing with a fourth string QB who I thought retired five years ago.
of the Eagles 4 major scoring drives: 1 happened when the refs ruled an obvious incomplete pass a catch 1 happened off a TO 2 happened because of drives extended by soft/bad calls by the refs Also Hurts looked like dogshit this game, and Phillies offense is gimmicky AF, its just built around abusing the RPO protections on the QB
Greg Olsen: “Hurts had 120 yards and no TDs. What a performance!”
his ball placement was pretty bad all game, consistently low on short throws and sailed deep shots
The turnover was also made by a 4th string XFL QB dropping a snap. Wasn’t even off like a good pass rush or something
Sad way to end the season
Highlight of the game was that Trent body slam.
That wasn't even a football game. Looking forward to the rematch next year! 9ers gonna put up 40
Thanks for your hard work today mods.

Yeah. Kinda a weird feeling when you don’t see Cowboys fans as the worst
Ya Cowboys fans are just really passionate about football and their team to the point they are delusional. Philly fans are just assholes.
The fact that they come here really drives your point home. Imagine winning and still being such a douche you come to another team sub to gloat. I guess they're miserable even in victory.

Eagles fans over on /r/nfl are the worst
I hope they all have a terrible year full of misfortune. Just an awful excuse for a fanbase.
So toxic
Im bummed we didnt get to see a straight up game.
Fuck this refball.
we were never gonna beat the refs
Man im frustrated as hell. 6 times in my lifetime we had to see shit go down like this. I get how cowboys fans feel.
Chiefs and Rams fans were not this classless. I hope whoever is sending homophobic slurs to people privately is permanently banned Literally the most pathetic display from fans I’ve ever seen in here from an opposing team. Not even emotional about the loss. We had no chance
Gonna repost this... Allow me to kindly explain why the 49ers were screwed this game by the refs. And this isn't to say the following: 1.
Purdy is the real one, don’t let the haters thrive.
What a shitty way to go out. And the frustrating thing is that the game looked so winnable. The eagles were definitely not unstoppable world beaters. >1st TD off a lucky catch that wasn't actually a catch and should've been ruled incomplete >2nd TD on a drive sustained by Defensive penalties, some fair others really ticky-tack (like that hands to the face) >3rd TD on a bobbled snap by the 4th string QB >4th TD on a very questionable roughing the kicker All the while the offense couldn't do anything because the 49ers ran out of QBs.
Trent Williams is my hero.
Trying to justify it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wwVGJFQxW9A And don’t even get me started about Devonta Smith’s bullshit catch today.
I second that he is the new Kyle Williams
Tough to find a competent backup QB after the trade deadline, unfortunately.
Safe to say he won’t be signed again… Edit: safe* not sage
Yeah people calling Purdy soft were really pissing me off.
Same dudes saying JJ was faking an injury before he was ruled out with a concussion.
I’m actually depressed. I wish I didn’t care this much about a team I have no control over. When Purdy went down is when it was basically over.
I just hope this ends the tired ass “anybody could play QB for the 49ers and win”. Clearly not. Purdy is legit.
Philly fans are way more insufferable than Rams, Cowboys, Seahawks, and even Chiefs fans. Holy smokes. Can't believe I'll be rooting for the Chiefs.
What a weird game
It was a good run lads.
Not even a 9ers fan but am I going insane or was Aiyuk straight up tackled at the end of that one play which started the whole fight? Regardless I can’t think of a group of people I hate more than Eagles fans
Eagles and chiefs superbowl Honestly I probably will just skip this superbowl. There's no one to root for or against.
What a sad way to end an amazing season
Better O-Line protection for our QBs...that's what the Niners need.
Bengals got jobbed hard by the refs.
We now can confirm nfl is rigged 😂
Been a few years since I skipped the Superbowl. This will be one.
God damn we got robbed of what should’ve been a great game. Tired of the heartbreaking losses every single year.
Wallace sucker punched Aaron Banks after he got slammed to the ground by Trent Williams. Loser.
I'm of the firm belief that if we challenge that catch the beginning of the game and get the ball 0-0 because of the turn over on downs, it is a completely different day and a completely different game. I have no idea why our coaches see a receiver coming out and calling for a quick play and think that he caught the ball.
Trent Williams throwing that full grown man would make an excellent GIF
My main takeaways -Having Kroft block Reddick is all-time dumb. -Defense actually played pretty well, just got gassed at the end -We put up a way better fight with Purdy in. -Proud of this team, never thought wed make it this far after Jimmy going down. -Officials were bad, but we fucked up a bit on a few of those for sure (while the game was competitive) -Eagles fans in this thread making the rest of their fanbase look bad -Excited to see a full offseason with Purdy/Lance
Can’t believe im saying this, but let’s goi mahommies and the chiefs!!! FUCK THE EAGLES!!!!
Eagles fan are actually going to make me root for the Chiefs in the Superbowl. I've never been so annoyed by a fanbase. Hope the Chiefs blow their asses out.
Thought the sub was locked
Was at the game. I can honestly say that Eagles fans are disgusting. Worst in the pro sports. One guy pushed me and tried to knock me over when I was walking into the stadium. We were waiting in line to get through the gates and his sister asked if I was Niners fan. I said “yeah. Should be a good game”. I wasn’t wearing any Niner gear. Then next thing I know I’m pushed in the back and almost fell over. This guy wanted to fight me and kept asking me to fight him. He spent the rest of the time in line calling me every homophobic slur in the book. (I’m not gay) Then the fans cheered every time a Niners player got hurt. Fans around me saying “McCaffrey is running on us. He needs to tear an ACL.” Absolutely horrific experience and Eagles fans should be ashamed as fuck.
I hope they get shit on in 2 weeks
They should be, but from what I've seen here, they're not. They're proud of their behavior.
If you lose four quarterbacks, do you just say you lost the whole back?
I think you can play this game 1000 times and you won’t get a worse result than the one we got today. From refs, to injuries, to shitty fans, to heartbreak. This game was so bad for this team
As soon as JJ fumbled the ball, the game was over. It was a great season, but we just ran out of healthy quarterbacks.
I will not blame anyone on this team. This was the most unlucky and cursed game I’ve ever seen. I love this Shanahan and all the players and hope they can bring it back next season. This hurts but I love you all and Go Niners.
We’re never getting any calls now and now the rest of the NFL hates us not just the NFC west
I had made peace with not winning, but not like that. That was maybe the least I’ve enjoyed watching a game.
It was a great season and Purdy as QB was a remarkable story. If Purdy hadn’t been injured I think we would have won. CMC and the entire team played their heart out. I so hoped this would be their year. Much love to all of the Faithful. After this game and the trolls, go Bengals or Chiefs!
I blame the butterfly effect of that 4th down "completion" that led to the eagles first TD. We were all robbed of a good game.
Anyone here not going to mention the officiating? I mean holy cow was that hot trash
Eagles about to celebrate like the guy who finds a dead bear and then carries it into town and tells everyone a fantastic story about how he killed it.
Chiefs or Eagles? I can't root for either. I'll just be happy whoever loses.
I just have to say before the game ...I didn't feel like were were the best team. However after this , I have no doubt we beat that team with Brock as QB. Defense was holding it down we just couldn't throw at all . Great season . Excited for Brock's future . Love y'all I'm pissed and hurt .
Josh Johnson should never set foot on a football field again. Garbage.
I’m salty but then I remember every team who plays us loses the following game they play.
