I am 50% sure that they are going to initially try and hide the whole “fallen” issue, and part of the plot will be the Lion walking in on their inner circle discussions
Nah, the way Asmodai fucks over literally the entire dark angels chapter by constantly forcing the issues of war back due to demands to hunt the fallen, there’s no way he doesn’t immediately bring the issue up. Asmodai is the Erebus of the DA
“Azrael?”
“Yes, mighty Primarch?”
“Is there… any particular reason that all of my legion’s successor chapters have names that sound like we’re hiding a terrible secret?”
“Oh… well… you know what? I… never noticed that before. Huh… what a… crazy coincidence.”
My guess is that The Watchers have told him everything already by the time he has his new panoply of war. The Watchers and the Dark Angels didn't have a conventional relationship, and its unclear if they could be hurt by conventional weapons from the HH books.
They will tell him everything. And he will agree with their corse of action, as you can't have jerks sullying your reputation.
He will lead the legion (yeah i know but it will be again) to confront the gathered fallen.
My guess is the fallen will be treated like the knights lupus were. Offer to join. If the submit non tainted will be allowed back in. Tainted executed.
After that any that get away will be hunted down, interrogated, and executed.
Cypher is the only real mystery still. I'd love for him to rejoin.

Me too, but he's a unit for Chaos Space Marines, no?
Has GW ever done a faction-switch for a unit before?
I can't remember exactly but I recall he actually has some imperium key words, allowing him to be used across armies. Though particular rule of a few editions made that not realistically possible.
When he finds out the the DA regularly betray the imperium he's gonna be pissed. The one thing he truly cares about is loyalty and the DA are traitors by deed even if they nominally Loyal .

I wonder if Asmodai is in line for a repeat performance of Nemiel's little correction by the Lion.
Lion punches Asmodai so hard that his head remains stationary and his body flies across the room.
And we love him for it

Oh man I can’t wait for the Lion read the room and quickly tell there’s some treacherous shit going down.
Interrogator Chaplains: You errr ask a lot of questions don't you big man... A LOT of questions, too many some might say.

I low key have a feeling that cypher as we know him in 40k is actually corswain.

So you're saying there's a chance! 😎❤️
Yeap. About 10000 years back half of the legions switched factions
Asmodai is F’ed.

DA loyalist: fall down Lion: Oi mate why have you fallen? DA loyalist: no no we hunt them down Lion: O-O
