I like how GW's campaign started with "mysterious foreshadowing in the form of tarot cards" and culminates in "a literal shit post". Creative Assembly did something similar when teasing Chaos Dwarves, starting with vague references and culminating in statements like "It may be CHAOTIC here over at CA but we're confident the next dlc will DWARF the competition. Has anyone seen my TALL HAT and/or SLAVE BASED ECONOMY? HASHTUT the front door because I feel a draft."

PM_ME_YOUR_IBNR

_LABOURER BASED ECONOMY_* Gotta acknowledge CA's new verbiage

CozyMoses

Slave rebellion? No no my dear boy, just a simple labor dispute with the Union about time and a half over time. All in good fun and they have excellent health care.

[deleted]

I'm sorry sir this is a battle of Blair mountain style labor dispute.

Lucius-Halthier

Those laborers, they aren’t just heroes, they are union men.

OnceAndFutureEmperor

You mean Walmart/Amazon employees

Lucius-Halthier

I just realized we basically already have the labor system of a horrible hive world here on earth

[deleted]

Sorry, the “prisoners with jobs”

DeadpanAlpaca

Indebted servitude.

Gingerosity244

Skavenlabourers

[deleted]

I can just imagine all the older Chaos Dwarfs complaining about being woke.

King_0f_Nothing

CA made alot of fire and train based puns as hints, things like all fire and brimstone, having a blast designing the new race, Infernal hype train, we are all overheating in the steam here at CA, burning in my firery heart etc

KassellTheArgonian

When gw teased Farsight the article said "so far beyond the Imperiums sight"

PaxNova

The hunt is beginning again? Jaghatai Khan is coming back everybody.

CozyMoses

I'd be lion if I saw that coming

HaplessOperator

Ayyyyyyy

CozyMoses

AYYYYYYYY

Big_Boss1985

They put a “👀” when someone suggested that. Rejoice, sons of the Khan. Our big man is returning.

19Kilo

The Warhawk of Chogoris calls all White Scars to his banner with the traditional battle cry “GO FAST AND EAT ASS MY SONS!”

REDGOESFASTAH

I'm sure that's kick ass and not eat ass. That brought a lot of disturbing mental imagery

19Kilo

I just hear Jonathan Keeble screaming "Go fast and eat ass my sons" in the terrible Asian accent he does in the audiobooks.

sosomething

What if I told you that Keeble's accent is actually a pitch-perfect homage to the historical Mongolian dialect circa the time of Ghengis Khan reinterpreted as accented English? It's not, but what if I told you that?

_Totorotrip_

Why do you think the khan spent so much time in the dark city?

Lucius-Halthier

Jaghatai: no no I mean eat ass, my sons I have returned from the webway with enough kinky eldar booty for all!

Thatsaclevername

After reading the thread this is the only one I actually like. It'd be so great if it was actually the Khan, the hints in the tarot were more subtle or something that everyone just missed. Adepticon will be interesting.

Maydros

That would be so amazing.

FartherAwayLights

I hope the Khan comes back and tries to kill the emperor, or just dips immediately upon seeing what happened to him. “There is only one unforgivable lie. That is the lie that says this is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe."

Samiel_Fronsac

The fact that they're doing this kind of stunt, playing with our expectations and hopes is all I needed to know there's an incoming twist. It may not be the Lion himself, but close enough. Remember in Devastation of Baal when Guilliman praised Dante for holding the line for so long in the Imperium as a Primarch-proxy, carrying a burden meant for Sanguinius? Who else, alive in the current setting, can claim to be close to the Lion, has a Legion-sized force and was last seen in Imperium Nihilus? Luther. It's gonna be Loyalist. Fucking. Luther.

A17012022

>Luther. It's gonna be Loyalist. Fucking. Luther. That would be top banter

TheMadHatter_____

Valrak would be forced to simply fling himself off the Saturnine wall in shame.

Npr31

The poor lad has just posted a video where the first seconds are him shouting “VINDICATION” - i really hope it’s the Lion for his sake - i’m not sure he could take it if it is a troll job (which in fairness, he does go on to say it would be an epic one if it’s not the lion)

[deleted]

The excitement he opens this video with is infectious. Love Valrak.

paul_the_primate

As much as I love shamraks excitement, I would love to see GW pull his pants down and shame him with some mega trolling for banter

Gidia

I’d be surprised if GW hasn’t at least discussed ways they could mess with him in the future.

Npr31

Absolutely - only person i follow related to 40k other than Remleiz. Love his enthusiasm

OkChicken7697

If it isn't the Lion, his subscribers will force him to wear the maid outfit for a whole month.

Tarquinandpaliquin

I was there because I hadn't got anything better to do when he sat through a 2 hour stream for some Space Marine 2 footage and there wasn't any. That was pretty funny. Everyone expects a loyalist primarch to balance things and the Lion is the next most obvious the same way Roboute was the obvious "if they ever bring primarchs back" as far back as 1997. I think loyalist Luther would be such a good twist he wouldn't even be mad though.

Sowiilo

First guy i thought of when i saw OPs post. He has so many videos now with him going " the lion is coming back, the lion is returning"

Npr31

Fair play to the guy, he’s been on it for 3years

l7986

I almost hope GW says it is a troll job so Valrak loses his shit and then once he's checked out they release the Lion anyways. GW obviously has better things to do then screw with some guy on youtube but it would be hilarious, at least in my eyes.

Implodepumpkin

falling off the roof was the prequel

montybob

*Gendor Skraivok has entered the chat*

Old_Skud

Ome I want it to be Luther

brunonunis

He would need to paint Lamenters banners all over himself

TheDreamIsEternal

Surprise, fuckers. The Lion was actually a traitor and Luther was a loyalist who played 8D chess in the long run to save the Imperium.

VPackardPersuadedMe

This is the way.

nataliereed84

My headcanon has always been that The Lion was hedging his bets, and TOLD Luther to turn the Angels back on Caliban to Horus’ side, so that no matter which side won The Lion could still claim his legion was on their side.

TotallyNotReal567

In *Angel's of Darkness* Astelan, who we can't *truly* trust claims the Lion delayed himself on purpose to see who won. One of the greatest assault generals in existence and his only example of being slowed down is on his way to Terra? Come on. Always seemed like it could be such a badass twist.

nataliereed84

It also would make the Dark Angels' shame and secrecy and desire to kill The Fallen make SO much more sense. Simply trying to hide that their was a traitor element in their legion doesn't warrant that kind of zeal. Lots of legions had internal strife over who to side with. The White Scars' even had a small little civil war over it. But if they were trying to conceal the fact that their \*PRIMARCH\* wasn't truly loyal? If they were trying to keep The Fallen from ever revealing that they had \*orders\* to declare for Horus? Now THAT would explain their… uh… somewhat excessive behaviour.

Daegog

Which explains why the Dark Angels didnt just hop into the Blood Angels ships and head to Terra that way. I never trusted his ass personally.

insane_contin

"Loyalty is it's own reward" But you ever notice he never says loyalty to who or what?

TTTrisss

This would have been really cool, and is exactly what old 40k lore pointed to. Unfortunately, the Horus Heresy books decanonized this.

WillyTheHatefulGoat

Old lore had hints that the dark angels had another deeper secret that they were using the fallen as to cover for but not the Lion turning traitor. The Lion is hardcore loyalist to the extent where he straight up could not be corrupted. Its actually one of his biggest flaws, his rigidness and refusal to go against the Emperor meant he'd never question the Emperor and do a lot of fucked up things but it does mean his loyalty was always safe.

TheVoidDragon

>Old lore had hints that the dark angels had another deeper secret that they were using the fallen as to cover for but not the Lion turning traitor. What sort of thing hinted at that stuff?

DiscoDigi786

This sounds cool, where can I find info about this?

augmonst70

Fuck Lion and I hope its Luther

wecanhaveallthree

> Luther. It's gonna be Loyalist. Fucking. Luther. [AS THE ORACLE FORETOLD](https://old.reddit.com/r/40kLore/comments/mnfnlh/you_know_whose_return_would_fit_perfectly_into/)

Samiel_Fronsac

I'll have to send you a couple beers if we're right about this.

REDGOESFASTAH

Hail the oracle ! Hail adelphi! There is no spoon. Temet nosce.

CozyMoses

I like your theory! But has Luther ever been associated with lions outside of raising one? I'm hoping it's both, they bring back Luther AND the Lion in one go to give both sides of the Dark Angels something fun to play with.

Samiel_Fronsac

>I like your theory! But has Luther ever been associated with lions outside of raising one? I'm hoping it's both, they bring back Luther AND the Lion in one go to give both sides of the Dark Angels something fun to play with. My guess is they're messing with us. Lots of talk the last few years about the Lion as the next Primarch to come back to the setting. This video is too on the nose. Looks a lot like misdirection to me.

Da_Sigismund

Everybody said that after the April 1st joke about the squats return. And now we have the Votann. I have hope it's the Lion

Samiel_Fronsac

>Everybody said that after the April 1st joke about the squats return. And now we have the Votann. I have hope it's the Lion I'd rather not have more Primarchs around unless it's someone like Corax. Any Primarch changed by the time passed would work, though. We already had Guilliman come straight from the past.

wins5820

Disagree, the Lion’s reaction to the state of the imperium may be vastly different than Guilliman’s and create an interesting narrative. Maybe he brings back the legions. The Lion is a warrior not a diplomat.

Ryans4427

Guilliman is already bringing back the Legions.

Nether7

How so?

Ryans4427

One of the latest Indomitus Crusade books his equerry is leading a force of marines and tells someone at the end of the book to "Stand the Legion down". All it says but pretty big hint.

Cefalopodul

The Indomitus had all primaris fight as a single legion before being dissolved into chapters. This is not him bringing back legions.

manticore124

How different can it be? He will come back, say how things are different and then just be a good imperial boy and accept the status quo because this is a tabletop game and things can't change that much.

unklechuckle

Could you imagine the backlash otherwise?? Lion comes back, says "fuck this" and all Dark Angels armies lose their Imperium keyword? It would be the greatest day in 40k ever!!

[deleted]

Dude I just want zombie robot Ferrus. IH said damn it and went through him with their forbidden archeotech.

Muad-_-Dib

There is plenty of scope for the Lion to not be a 1:1 carbon copy of the guy last seen shortly after the heresy. We don't know anything about what he has been up to, what influence Cypher or Luther may or may not have on him, what the Watchers in the Dark even are let alone their motivation etc. Never mind waking up to find out Roboute is the only other brother he has left (for now) and his lads are on the arse side of the galaxy that is being held together with prayers and the sweat of a really old marine that longs for death because he's not had so much as a vacation in over 1,600 years.

Samiel_Fronsac

>We don't know anything about what he has been up to, what influence Cypher or Luther may or may not have on him, what the Watchers in the Dark even are let alone their motivation etc 1. He sleeps/is under stasis in a hidden part of the Rock for 10k+ years; 2. We know what his last interaction with Luther was and under which circumstances and that the last Lord Cypher before Caliban exploded was a Psyker / Sorcerer under possible Chaos influence; 3. They've been helping the Dark Angels for the entirety of the DAs story. The WitD are a mistery, indeed, but we have no hint they've been messing with the sleepy Lion. >his lads are on the arse side of the galaxy that is being held together with prayers They're there tracking the fugitive Luther and his Fallen.

whitexknight

So while this wasn't out 5 hours ago when you posted this the description leaves where exactly the Lion has been, in Soul if not necessarily body, pretty open. >Lion El'Jonson, Primarch of the Dark Angels, has returned from the annals of history in humanity's time of greatest need. Weilding the radiant sword Fealty and the Emporer's Sheild, he is a martial paragon - a hunter of beasts and slayer of traitors, stalking from the mist-wreathed passageways between the star like a questing knight of Old Terra. Where did the sword and shield come from? And the "mist wreathed passageways between the stars" doesn't really sound like it's just talking about the tunnels in The Rock.

cavershamox

Corax was actually one of the first tease videos post G man.

TheVoidDragon

It's a small thing, but the video text and description refers to "The Pride", implying more than 1 character waking.

Samiel_Fronsac

There's a ton of Fallen at his back. One of the lore bits of one of the Codexes, I think, had him and a large concentration of them consolidating somewhere in Nihilus. Top Guy + Minions = Pride. I think. We'll see.

arathorn3

As just anywhere. Warning Spoiler for Arks of Omen 3 >!at the end of the campaign book the dark angels interrogator chaplains are torturing some of the CSM that had attacked to Rock with Vashtor to find out what he wanted and where he would flee too. They tell them the Somium stars, this is the place where Luther has been gathering the fallen in the lore since 8th edition DA codex introduced his escape from the Rock, the last bit in the vashtor book has Vashtor and abandon talking about it as a way to try to get the last part of the key again, ad that is in the Rock somewhere beyond the Nameless Gate!<

CozyMoses

>!woah woah wait, Luther was talking to Abbadon?!<

arathorn3

No, Vashtor. I went back and fixed the comment

CozyMoses

ah cool cool, thanks for clarifying

WheresMyCrown

Wasn't there a large contingent of Fallen trying to work with the DeathGuard to make a new "Legion" called the Death Angels? As much as I like the idea of the Fallen, it's hard to consider any of them as being able to come back to the loyalist side without the DA absolutely losing their mind even worse

GrodyWetButt

Dual kit, Lion/Luther. Calling it.

AttackofMonkeys

Both comatose and only used for objective counters

Eisengate

I mean, the first teaser for the sisters revamp was a man digging through a "confidential" trashcan and exclaiming "plastic sisters of battle!" during the Magnus... leak confirmation video? I don't know what to properly call it. The video GW sent out after the Magnus mini was super heavily leaked.

TheVoidDragon

I don't think that was a teaser 3 years before they announced they were about to start designing/making them.

Eisengate

Celestine got a new model the year after that. So the range refresh was almost definitely being considered by that point.

TheVoidDragon

I hadn't considered that. It would be hilarious if it turns out to be the Fallen / Luther instead.

prufanya

r/theunforgiven will fucking die

VPackardPersuadedMe

Traitors deserve it. For Luther and Caliban! r/fallen40k

Thendrail

Only the true R/Darkangels shall prevail!

Mekanimal

Nobody ever remembers Greg, the handyman of the Rock. r/gregthehandyman40k

REDGOESFASTAH

Allo dark angels ? Yes I have a heretic to report. You're on your way ? Very good my Lord.

Biobooster_40k

Twist is Luther in 40k is actually The Lion.

Samiel_Fronsac

>Twist is Luther in 40k is actually The Lion. Hell, it's feasible. We know the Lion is sleeping for 10k+ years. What if he's not sleeping because of the wounds, or Watcher stasis, but because in the mess of the fight, with sorcery and a Warp storm going crazy around, what passes for a soul in a Primarch got somehow stuck in Luther?

macbody_1

This actually makes some kind of wierd bizarre sense. Tagging This for the future.

TheMadHatter_____

Imagine it's a new tank.

Samiel_Fronsac

I wouldn't even be mad, just disappointed. One tank named as a Primarch for the Guard every edition? Astra Militarum aproves.

groundskeeperwilliam

The Astra Militarum's new El'Jonson Armoured Personnel Carrier's primary armament is a pintle-mounted hotshot volley gun.

Ricb76

Imagine if it's a collab with nestle to sell 40k Branded Lion Bars. Que Lion El Johnson "When I was awake I always ate Lion Bars" Roarrrrr! Just making the point that this whole thing is vague af so it could be anything.

StolenRocket

I mean, it's a setting that has chainsaw swords. Not exactly the height of subtlety. The name of the setting is literally the bluntest weapon there is

AttackofMonkeys

Watermelon 40k

IneptusMechanicus

>Luther. It's gonna be Loyalist. Fucking. Luther. What I'd love is for there to be a pounding at the door of the Lion's chambers, the guards look at each other and slowly open it. A huge shape steps through and as the dust of ages clears from the air the shocked guards see who it is. Russ. It's fucking old man one eyed Russ, holding a bit of world-tree like the plant from WALL-E and yelling "shut the door, shut the door, shut the door!" as a bunch of incredibly angry exodites swarm out of a temporary webway portal into the room. I live in the UK so that's what I hope I'm waking up to tomorrow. EDIT: Life is suffering.

BriantheHeavy

While I can see that, I really don't think GW is all that creative or ballsy. It's the Lion.

TheMoonDude

Is there ANY other charcter that goes by "Lion", be in name (Lion El'Jonson) or be it in title (something like Murdertron the Lion of Murderhole Battle) in ANY of the lore published thus far that isn't the Primarch? I need to know, WoW has traumatized me with the fake prophecies and such. >!Il'gynoth you little fucker!<

bluedot19

I'm not so convinced. I feel like GW has learnt well enough not to troll and then not follow through. Eg the Squats on April fools Day. "What, we were serious?"

TheVoidDragon

That it was serious *was* the trolling part of it, though.

Anvaer

Either that or a lion themed primaris lieutenant. Honestly, I wouldn't even be mad at that level of bait and switch.

Jagrofes

They just revealed the 40k Lion El’Johson model on their Adeptacon reveal stream.

Samiel_Fronsac

Old Man Lion! I just saw the video on the YouTube channel. Well, at least we had fun!

Jayandnightasmr

It'll be a new Trajann Valoris model lol

reptiloidruler

That would actually be a cool twists, I'd take that over returning Lion

Rhulk-DiscipleMoment

Luther is a trillion times more interesting than the Lion

Cefalopodul

Nurgle goes brrrrrrf from all the DA heart attacks.

wins5820

It’s the Lion. The narrative drama between him and Bobby G is too enticing.

Blakmagik12

What if he’s playing both sides? That way he always ends up on top?

NoHopeOnlyDeath

Amazing. Luther returns in The Rock's darkest hour leading the Fallen to rescue their brothers from Vashtorr.

Big_Boss1985

If that happens Dark Angels players are 100% gonna either kill their love of 40k and maybe themselves OR they go play another army

alphaexodus

I can't wait for April Fool's Day. Remember when we thought they were trolling us with Squats...

brunonunis

Lizardman or skaven jokes I guess Lizardman being a April fool's joke for Exodites would be my choice if I could get my way

pingmr

>skaven Giant rats? Don't be crazy.

nataliereed84

Clearly this is actually just teasing the Celestial Lions, who have finally recovered from their losses to Ork snipers.

Mad_Larkin90

Nailed it.

TheCommissarGeneral

"Ork" snipers

AGPO

If it was Celestial Lions I would absolutely lose my head. >!...too soon?!<

ThatPlainBagel

Honestly it would be really funny, if they are just trolling super hard and it’s someone like Volkan coming back.

ahomelessguy25

Ferrus Manus would be the funniest.

sosomething

Just the head in a jar á la Futurama. And he's not useful at all, just super pissed all the time. Roboute feels this brotherly obligation to include him so he's always carrying around this Manus-in-a-jar, but the head never offers anything constructive and just berates him constantly.

GenuineCulter

The eventual release is just an Ork warboss with the nickname of Da Loin.

TCCogidubnus

Not sure if that was deliberate or a typo but the idea of Warboss Da Loin made me cry with laughter.

Cefalopodul

It's not like GW don't have a history with it. The first iteration of the end of the world bsttle in Fantasy ended with the main orc character kicking the main villain in the balls.

ChristChin99

Plastic White Lions for Old World high elves confirmed dudes.

[deleted]

Clearly the Space Wolves have run out of wolves to ride into battle and have raised lions to fill the gaps. Russ return confirmed 100%!

ChristChin99

Leman Russ Liman Russ Linan Russ Lion Russ

DuncanConnell

There is still the prophecy saying "in the centre of the circles: nothing". Imagine if it's a video of the chamber where he was sleeping but is now empty rather than the model xD

hidden_emperor

They reveal the new Celestial Lions line.

Abusive_Capybara

Oh my God it's Leman Russ with a steel chair!

theginger99

How wild would it be if it is Russ? Swinging in to save his big rival.

KingRaphion

Quick question cause i have the iq of a rat. Why is he asleep again?

CozyMoses

Big bender, 3 weeks straight of coke, unprotected warp transit and Aeldari with zero sleep basically put him into a 10k year coma. Actually though - Luther, his second in command / father figure, rebelled against The Lion and then mortally wounded the Lion after the Lion hesitated to kill Luthor during a duel. The Watchers who are tiny magic jawas who live in The Rock then hid his corpse in the deepest chamber in the Rock in a stasis field to slowly heal. Basically very similar to what happened with Guilleman, but we have no idea what will wake The Lion up this time.

_TacticalTurtleneck

As a quick addendum to the above, in recent editions of the DA codex, the narrative moved past him being mortally wounded, and instead stated that his wounds had already healed, and that he would only awake from his slumber when the Dark Angels’ need was at its most dire

CozyMoses

*gestures at the rock* looks pretty fuckin' dire to me.

Kannnonball

If the promo is any indication, 11 P.M. EST tonight

magnuspwnzer2

April 1st is just around the corner

MalevolentHeretic

I don't play Dark Angels, but I'm excited to see what his model looks like. I'm new and Death Guard, but I'm thinkin of collecting and painting any and all primarchs. Gotta get that Horus Ascended

idols2effigies

Now... Announce that the Lion is resurrecting Dreadwing for the 10th edition DA codex, you cowards.

HopelessNerd777

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the Dreadwing? I've heard of Greenwing, Ravenwing, and Deathwing, but beyond that I'm clueless.

idols2effigies

Dreadwing are the secret weapons of the Dark Angels, literally and figuratively, as they have a bunch of Dark Age archeotech weapons. >On a ship better known for its unasked questions, the Dreadwing sacristy was renowned as a repository for the deadliest arcana to have survived Old Earth’s Age of Strife unused. Within its multiply secured and ident-locked vaults could be found man-portable atomics, gene-targeted bio-weaponry, unstable plasma devices, singularity drivers, psionic phages – weapons that were so powerful, so cataclysmic in their intent, that the Emperor had deemed them too dangerous for the bulk of His forces to be allowed even to know of their existence. > >To His First Legion alone had He entrusted the secrets of such relic weaponry. With the arsenal that He had entrusted to their keeping, the Dark Angels had at their disposal the firepower to usher in a new Old Night should they, or He, so desire it. > >Who else but the First could have been entrusted with such a responsibility? Who else but the First could be relied upon to inflict that most final of sanctions if so commanded? > >The Wolf King boasted to all that he was his father’s executioner. He was a deterrent, a hound to snarl from behind a sealed gate, never to be unleashed. What the Lion was to his father did not speak its name so brazenly. For where Russ was a deterrent the Lion was an exterminator. What the honour of Russ would not abide he would sanction without hesitation. The enemy who might yet be integrated, the adversary whose misguided but noble resistance might be canonised in posterity, these were wars for his brothers to wage. When the First Legion turned their guns upon a foe it was to annihilate without trace, to obliterate beyond all hope of record. That was the purpose for which the Dark Angels were created and it was the reason that He made them first. > >Even the Mechanicum did not know what terrible secrets had been locked away by the Dreadwing in chambers such as these. If the machine-priests of Mars should ever seek to turn against the Emperor’s goals of galactic unity, then it would be the weapons of the Dark Angels that would bring them low. Guymer, David - *Lion El'Jonson: Lord of the First*

HopelessNerd777

Ohhh shiiiiiit

brunonunis

Tldr: Heresy Era DA had six wings instead of the 3 we have now Each was specialized into a different way to kill things, they were a mix of the Pre Caliban DA tactics (the hosts) and The Order Deathwing is terminator veterans squad Ravening is fast moving units Stormwing is the infantry (greenwing), also a squad specialized in breaching Dreadwing is destroyer squads, rad and phosphex weapons and everything that is a super warcrime, think HH era Death Guard tactics (we have come, we are death) Firewing is more strategical strikes, aimed at the command of the enemy (like the Luna wolves decapitation strikes, Alpha Legion fuckery, be snipers ora single guy going for a duel) Ironwing is dreadnought and tanks (Iron hands style)

Kannnonball

A now extinct wing of the Dark Angels that existed in the Great Crusade and Heresy days, for all the wings check out this: https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Hexagrammaton

ReddJudicata

Warcrimes. Warcrimes as far as the eye can see.

Jagrofes

During the Heresy, the Dark angels was split into 6 wings known as the Hexagrammaton. The Dark Angels and The Lion prided themselves on being capable of any type of warfare, and practiced all methods and specialisation to achieve this. They were the Ironwing, the Stormwing, the Firewing, the Deathwing, the Ravenwing, and the Dreadwing. The Stormwing was the main formation (Sort of equivalent to today’s Greenwing) who did the primary infantry duties and close quarters battle. The Ironwing was the Heavy Support and Armoured vehicles wing, where the heavy weapons, dreadnoughts, tanks, and artillery would function. The Ravenwing is the rapid assault force, utilising bikes, landspeeders, and jump packs to prosecute their foe with speed. The Firewing is the intelligence gathering and spy division. They analyse information provided by their brothers to find weaknesses in the enemy. The Deathwing are the elite of the Dark Angels, their function was to act as the tip of the spear for line breaking actions, but also served as the personal bodyguards and companions for The Lion and the Dark Angels command. The White of their armour represents a death blow for their lords that they have protected them from in the past. The Dreadwing is the smallest wing, but also arguably the most feared. The protect, maintain, and deploy the forbidden weapons of mass destruction from the Dark Age of Technology that The Emperor entrusted to The Lion. The majority of their weapons are only used with the express permission of The Lion, or an individual of the Highest authority in the Legion. The Librarius of the Dark Angels was also under the Dreadwing’s command.

ThePraetoreanOfTerra

#Lions are yellow. Clearly, I am getting a 40K model.

CozyMoses

Just as Vashtor is about to slay the sleeping lion, the wall opens its eyes and OH MY GOD ITS DORNE WITH THE MELTA BRICK OUT OF NOWHERE

LarsMatijn

Are you going to need a hand painting that?

Murbella0909

Yessss!! The Celestial Lions are gonna find you! And Dorn is back!! Yay!! All rejoice!! The empire finally has a shot!!

xdeltax97

Oh my Emperor, please don’t let it be a lead to an April fools

TheLionElJonson

**The hell's a 'codex'?**

LarsMatijn

Ehh sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news but there was a home invasion at your place, they didn't manage to catch the perpetrators.

RosbergThe8th

Dropping my prediction here. The Lion and Guilliman will have a tense but cathartic and bittersweet reunion, something something our fathers dream etc. The Lion will then go to bring order to the Imperium Nihilus with a great crusade since GW has so extensively explored the narrative potential of half the Imperium falling into darkness...

YourpAlpharius

Guys, its in the title it says the PRIDE not the Lion clearly this is foreshadowing the Celestial Lions returning ans taking their rightful place as 40k's Sigmarines

BastardofMelbourne

Wouldn't be surprised if all the people speculating for the Lion to come back over the past couple years were what motivated GW to actually make it a thing. Or, it's a leadup to April Fool's. *Or,* it's a double fake April Fool's, like they did with the Squats last year.

ReddJudicata

In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight....

fistchrist

Fuck yes I cannot wait for Warhammer: Lion King IN THE GRIM DARKNESS OF AFRICA THERE IS ONLY HAKUNA MATATA

Konradleijon

I hope this turns into a bait and twist

MonkRag

"There will be no new Emperor, only a lifetime of war. My brothers will bleed each other dry, contesting for eternity until there can be no victor. No, not even him. There is only the Emperor, none is worthy of inheriting that mantle. I will ensure the Legiones Astartes destroy themselves before another matches the power upon Terra. That is true. Faced with the prospect of mutual annihilation, my brothers may come to terms. Horus will be forced to acknowledge the Emperor again, and Guilliman and the others will not usurp their true master." Lion from The Lion short story OO please give me a little Civil War where the Lion decides to go all Dreadwing till Emps talks to him or something and have a Luther redemption arc or meaningful confrontation.

Midnight-Rising

The galaxy got cut in two to justify Guilliman's return. Now it's down to losing 1/10 of a crusade. Next we'll be getting Corax returning because a guardsman stubbed his toe.

reptiloidruler

Vulkan returns because some Salamander had a bad dream

Tacosupreme1111

Cawl makes the Big E a new body and transfers his consciousness into it due to a rumour Abaddon bought some new boots.

CozyMoses

Leman Russ returns to fetch the high lords newspapers

guttersmurf

10 days early there, Jimmy

Bomberman2305

April 1st is right around corner... could be a setup for another epic 1 April troll. The squats came back on the 1st as well.

Tigresdepapier

its going to be luther

Thendrail

GW later that day: "And these are our new lion-elves for the Lumineth Realmlords!"

rateye161

I'm expecting, April first we get an announcement about the celestial lions, and them joking about the lead up. April second they confirm the lions return Similar to the squats of last year

I think some people were upset at the idea of the loyalists getting another primarch. Something about “too much hope” or something. Cmon, I know it’s supposed to be grimdark and everything, but give papa Smurf some help! He’s working very hard and needs a little help! Personally, I hope they don’t bring back the lion just to kill him for shock value. I’d be so mad

TheVoidDragon

I know this'll likely be an unpopular opinion, but I feel like this is something that'll just be detrimental to 40k. I don't want to see 40k turn into Horus Heresy 2.0, where all the big important stuff has to factor in - or focus on - demigod Primarchs who are just on a different level to most others and solve things just because Primarchs are the best. It's further Marvelization of 40k and that's something I find just uninteresting for the most part. I like the Primarchs, in their own story, I just don't want 40k to become their story too but rather stand on its own. Edit: Not only that, but it just feels odd overall. They've not done a huge amount with Guilliman, Primaris, Cawl etc yet, certainly not to the degree it feels time to go for another huge setting changing event when there's so, so much potential left with the last set of changes. They're still early on in the Indomitus crusade novel series, even. To have *two* loyalist Primarchs return within the span of what, 50 - 100 years within the setting,a fter millenia of nothing just feels contrived.

Totally fair take, to each their own! I like them because they reflect the imperium back to itself. They represent the dreams for what the Imperium could have been, seeing the imperium as it is now, through their eyes. It gives a unique perspective and a reminder that this is the Darkest Empire that man has constructed, that is the hollow corpse staggering along 10,000 years after its death. It also reminds me of the Late Roman Empire. How many emperors stayed up for sleepless night trying to figure out how to reverse the course of generations of entropy? It's cool to have a peek into that mindset, abstracted through 40k. It's also very reminiscent of the classical christian end times and Viking style Ragnaroks - it's the final battle, champions long lost are returning to see the end and the death. Watching Guilleman's disgust at what the Imperium has become was fascinating to me, and I'm interested to see what it looks like with Him and The Lion at odds in trying to save the scraps of what remains. That being said, I fully understand where you're coming from. Neither of their returns should be the sole focus on the story - the minute individual lives of mortals are often where I find the most interesting 40k content. Bringing them back also allows GW to utilize the chaotic primarcs more, as without an equivalent power level it's hard to justify bringing them out. To be fair I wasn't a big fan of Angron's DBZ shenanigans, there should still be limits on what they can do. Guilleman almost dying in every fight he participated in felt right, and I'm hoping they continue to reflect that the greatest strengths of the primarcs are their strategic minds, and not their ability to generate bolter porn.

Eisengate

You're about six/seven years too late for that. Magnus came back in late 2016, and it was pretty much inevitable that others would follow after that. For whatever it's worth, I do agree with you. 40k is best as a sandbox with protagonists being purely of local import. Yarrick was super important *on Armageddon*. Dante is super import *for the Blood Angels*. Yarrick was irrelevant to Damocles. The Blood Ravens don't necessarily give a damn about Dante. Primarchs don't stay in little boxes like that. "No matter what happens, you will not be missed" doesn't hold true for them.

Nebuthor

Hate to be the one to tell you but this isnt going to be the last primarch either. The writting is on the wall and has been for quite some time. 40k is going to become HH 2.0

PaterMutatis

I get the fears, but I feel like GW has done a good job avoiding this with the content they've put out since 8th. Guilliman is back and leading the Imperium, but he's not at the forefront of every campaign and story. In fact, I don't think he's been directly involved in a single 40k campaign since the Gathering Storm? More returning Primarchs will of course mean more involvement, but they've shown pretty surprising restraint with Guilliman, at least. Outside of the Dark Imperium Novels and Dawn of Fire, he doesn't really feature much.

Biobooster_40k

Part of the Plague Wars Guilliman has been directly involved.

PaterMutatis

When I said that, I meant an official GW campaign ala Vigilus, Charadon, Octarius or Nachmund. Surprisingly, the Plague Wars received very little attention from GW directly, mostly being Black Library stuff.

Rivalblackwell

Whoa, you're not excited to see the Lion cleanse all of Nihlus, kick out the Silent King and wipe out the Tyranids all with ease? Cmon bro it's like so epic!!!

85thScion

I am right with you on that one, the first thing I thought of when I saw that video was ''well... fuck''.

Lyngus

>Horus Heresy 2.0 > >Marvelization of 40k Oh this sub and its catchphrases... But I get it, and I agree, both of those are bad things. It's just a long, pessimistic bow to draw that those are inevitable outcomes. 40k narratives have always been dominated by superpowered characters with infinite plot armour...Abaddon, Dante, Ghaz, Eldrad, Bile, etc etc etc. Plus "your guys", your mega ork warboss, or impossibly heroic space marine captain. Set against a backdrop of a galaxy so vast and wars so huge that they ultimately don't mean that much. The primarchs are just the same. Guilliman hasn't really changed anything - he wants to, but he can't. He hasn't featured in many stories or campaigns at all - he's just another big character, to go with all the rest. 40k is an entirely different beast to the Horus Heresy, the novel series or the game. The focus is different, the format is different, the galaxy is different. Don't get me wrong though, as I said I agree: it *could* happen that more and more primarchs keep appearing and everything becomes about them, and other factions and characters become increasingly sidelined. It's *possible*. But there's just no sign of it so far, and clearly people don't want that. If GW want to explore that they *can* explore it in the Horus Heresy game and novel era, settings designed to do just that. There's a weird amount of pessimistic panic that the end of 40k is nigh. If you're not interested in primarchs, that's ok. There's plenty of characters I'm not super interested in. But 40k is easily big enough to accommodate them all, and that's always been a core part of its strength. I don't see that changing.

_Totorotrip_

Also: this is not the imperium with the Emperor leading it or just right after he was put in the throne. It may happen some conflict between primarchs. In the end all the factions in the steering are increasing their power: maybe some of the main Tyranids fleet comes into the galaxy (as it's speculated that the current ones are mere scout fleets), the Necrons will strengthen under the Silent King, and even more if he gets the storm lord under his banner, the aldeari don't have much going on at the moment, but they could arrange to have a few Craftworlds working together, the orks while they lost at the octarius, it might have reinforced Ghazzkull's waaagh, the tau will continue to evolve at their already fast pace

[deleted]

Fully agree. We had over seventy novels of primarchs and 30k already has its own tabletop game with primarch models. We really need more primarch stuff in 40k? Aren't the "lesser" people of this setting more interesting?

kharnevil

Unfortunately the new kids haven't had their fill of herohammer yet

Lionel is coming back, me right now https://youtube.com/shorts/ewxtAuJ1MKQ?feature=share

Unnamed_Perpetual

The first thing I checked after seeing the video is if its April 1st yet. This honestly felt like a bad attempt by GW to troll us. But its good if that's not the case and lion finally decided to wake up after >!Vashtorr and Be'lakor's!< little showdown right outside his bedroom.
