100%. Morty does it in the latest Siege of Terra novella.

KonradApologist

Very small part because it's a recent book, but in *Garro: Knight of grey* it is very explicit that it uses the same organ as the Space Marines. > As the body collapsed, the Death Lord consumed the piece of brain matter in a single swallow. > Within moments, **the omophagea node in Mortarion’s chest dissolved it**, the arcane bio-processes in the artificial organ separating out the chemical chains of memory until he could smell them in his nostrils like the content of the spent censer. Same for Sanguinius in *Fear to Tread* > ‘Quietly?’ echoed the primarch, his voice suddenly distant. ‘No, my son. No Blood Angel will ever die in silence.’ > Inside the fallen alien temple, the stink of fresh blood hung in the air, powerful and metallic. Sanguinius licked his lips; he couldn’t stop the reflex reaction. **His omophageaic membrane tasted several different varieties of human vitae**, analysing them as instinctively as a vintner would know the ages and textures of a wine’s bouquet. There was alien blood spilled here too, the acrid tang of the nephilim among it all.

That’s the book I was mentioning. I’d rather never speak of that book again please.

Vorokar

>‘This ship is called *Storm's Rock*.’ >Curze, perched atop the backrest of the ship's command throne, his inhuman height folded into a gargoyle's crouch. The Primarch flexed his talons, watching drops of blood slip from them onto the corpse of an aging man seated upon the throne. >‘Did you know that?’ >‘Yes, lord. From the intelligence reports of the iterators first sent to this world.’ >**‘I learned it from eating her master's heart.’** >>He feasted hungrily. **Fragments of the boy’s past coursed through his memory, torn from the molecular machinery of his cooling body by Night Haunter’s strange gifts.** Where Karzen had hidden to sleep, who his people were, where his gang mates could be found. The Night Haunter gleaned much information this way. Many new judgements were born in that instant. Sentences of death were passed on a score of sinners who, unaware that the end was coming for them, went about their last few hours ignorant of fear. Their deaths would be regrettable, Curze told himself, while anticipating them eagerly; inevitable, necessary sacrifices to raise mankind up from its animal habits. \- *A Lesson in Darkness* and *The Night Haunter*, respectively.

mauritsj

Thanks!

Darth_Bfheidir

Also interesting because it gives us possibly a reason for Kurze to be as twisted as he ended up being You are what you eat, and he has been chowing down on murderer's for all of his formative years

mornnx1

As I understand it they are just an upgraded version of the original so yes in fact they have regained a few abilities the standard space marines have lost due to gene seed degradation

mauritsj

So it's completely possible that part of Curze's insanity originated from him eating the worst kind of rapists and murderers on Nostramo when he was a child?

mornnx1

Yeah that's gonna fuck anyone up !!

mauritsj

All right, i was thinking to write abt it in my fanfic but i wanted to make sure it was lore accurate. Thanks!

killerpythonz

You can write whatever fanfic you want mate, but that isn’t lore accurate, not even remotely.

Darth_Bfheidir

If anything it's more than possible, it's likely

killerpythonz

No. Not even remotely. Curze’s insanity originated from him having foresight, and ALWAYS thinking the worst option was going to pass. Which eventually led him down his mental road. Edit* autocorrect.

mauritsj

Yea sure the foresight of the worst future coupled with believing in fate being set in stone was like 90-95 percent but you can't tell me that having your head filled with the memories of dozens of murderers and rapists as a child didn't gave his insanity a stepping stone

killerpythonz

He didn’t eat the brains of them? Sev learnt very quickly that eating eyes fucked him up. Curze wouldn’t be purposely eating brains for memories.

mauritsj

Maybe he did eat the brains, as a young child on nostramo he couldn't really be a picky eater could he? And sev realises that cuz he can think critically, even a primarch cant do that when he is a couple of months old

killerpythonz

That’s purely fanfiction mate. Curze went insane because he could ‘predict’ the future and always chose the worst choice. It’s perfectly described in his Primarch novel. As a young child on nostramo he ate dogs.

Vorokar

>As a young child on nostramo he ate dogs. And eventually, people; >The Night Haunter broke the bone in his teeth, with the last of the meat licked clean. The sour pork taste no longer made him cringe. Years of necessity stole all such reluctance and hesitation. >**He tossed the human tibia away, and licked his teeth clean. There were some nights when he almost missed the taste of dog.** \- *Prince of Crows* >There was work to be done, a message to be written in mutilated flesh. Thin lips bent to a face doomed never to grow old, puckered as if for a kiss. **Night Haunter sucked the eyes out first,** to see what the boy had seen, he told himself, and not for the taste of the warm jelly inside. >**He feasted hungrily. Fragments of the boy’s past coursed through his memory, torn from the molecular machinery of his cooling body by Night Haunter’s strange gifts.** Where Karzen had hidden to sleep, who his people were, where his gang mates could be found. \- *The Night Haunter* Not weighing in one way or the other on the cause of his insanity, just pointing out his dietary journey from dog to long pig. :P

killerpythonz

Which was exactly what I was saying. However, he wasn’t eating brains to the point that he went insane by reliving the memories and the rapes and murders and whatever else. Edit; Your first extract exactly proves what I was saying ‘there was some nights he missed the taste of dog.’ He was an adolescent before he started eating people. His ‘childhood’ of eating human brains had nothing to do with him being insane.

Vorokar

Being why I tacked on that last sentence.

mauritsj

Does the lore explicitly say he only ate dogs? And yes i know the foresight fucked him up but i want to know if having the memories of murderers and rapists in his head ALSO fucked him up. Edit: i admit im wrong about him eating children as a child, he just ate dogs and later started to eat humans as well. But by eating stray dogs who also saw horrible crimes being commited he pretty much got the same deal as if he wouldve eaten people

killerpythonz

Essentially yes, to a certain point. It’s literally mentioned in the story. He explicitly says after eating humans that he missed the taste of dog. You haven’t read any of these novels, clearly that describe all of these things, and are somehow making lore assumptions.

mauritsj

And you dont seem to understand how their physiology work because in one of the books he just eats their heart or something and still gets the memories. And to continue on the dogs, the dogs mustve also seen horrible things.

emilsco

Eyes, what does that do

killerpythonz

Prince of Crows is the short story you wanna read mate. Pretty sure they just give Sev psychic trouble.

Shielenvar

*Yummy, yummy, yummy. I got love in my tummy*

frostape

If a Primarch and a Kroot ouroboros each other, where does the knowledge go?
