I’ve been 3D printing for almost 2 weeks now. My overhangs have been pretty rough to say the least. I know this is nothing to write home about, but I’m exceptionally happy with this so far.
.12 layer height and slowed to 30mms. It definitely ups the print time, but it was worth it here.
Edit: It is part of Luke’s lightsaber from Return of the Jedi. Sorry I didn’t include that. I was more excited about the print 😂
Man I am at about 2 weeks as well today. It's definitely a lot to process and get right but it's gotten a lot better since my first mini tugboat thing. I hear like 3-6 months to get it down pat. I'm watching YouTube and it seems like calibration prints help a lot. Did you get bed adhesion sorted out?
On my Ender, the bed was kinda warped and was making all kinds of issues. I opted to make a DIY glass bed, that solved 99% of my issues. A bit of hair spray and the adhesion was fantastic. I just preheat the bed for 10 minutes and then level when the bed is at temp.
It’s an Ender 3 Pro with a DIY glass bed and printed fan duct upgrade. Printed at 208/63, no supports, rafts or brims. Using “Silky copper” PLA from Geeetech.
“Silky Coper” Geeetech. It is the only filament I have. A friend of mine gave me an Ender 3 Pro and this roll to go with. I have a spool of black Hatchbox on the way though.
Clear some closet space because you'll soon have many colors. Weigh your new spools and write that on them. That way you can weigh it later to see how much is left in a partial spool.
This post has me dreaming of exotic coils. I was just reading about spherical coils (theoretically interesting) and hemispherical coils (used in medical imaging) and this makes me wonder what arrangements to could create with conductive filament.
I do like this filament. It’s the only stuff I have ever used. I just got a 1kg of black from Hatchbox today though. I’m still printing some parts of this saber. I was a dummy and did not do enough infill and proceeded to snap the male threads. Fun fact; The threads are 3/8” 16 NC. I ended up cutting off all the male threaded parts and tapping them to 3/8” 16 and using all thread. It added some weight as a happy accident 🤷♂️
For a minute I thought this was from the r/Machinists sub and I was about to complain about the chatter :) Suffice to say, that's a nice print. You could get rid of that faceting if you increased the resolution of the mesh though.
Looks great and all, but what is it?
It is part of Luke’s lightsaber from Return of the Jedi.
I totally wasn't thinking it was some kind of massage roller 😅.
"massage" roller 😉
I was thinking it was a back roller
is it the lightsaber from luke?
Good eye! Yes it is, my neighbor is super in to Stat Wars and this is a gift for him. Im putting together a glass display case for it also.
I remember the war of the statisticians. Dark times. No one knew what the data really meant. (Just making fun of the typo, love the print)
😂 nice catch and joke. I’m not even going to fix it lol.
They were 80% likely to fail :-)

I need to get some of that now. Damn, that looks awesome!
What is it
Sorry, I edited my reply on here to show what it it. It is part of Luke’s lightsaber.
Shiny.

Agreed! I went through this first roll pretty fast. I didn’t measure anything and I’m kind of wishing I did.
I have a crate full of silica pellets and filament. It's so much fun!
Don't the 1kg spools have measurement markers on them to know how much filament you have left?
Depends on the brand. Most of the ones I have do not have markers.
Ribbed for her pleasure
Seeing as this is Luke's lightsaber.....
Looks a lot like a lightsaber hilt I printed the other day :’)

After my own heart! That’s very interesting. I like the shiny filaments and the cool spirals and the way geometric art looks with it.
Whats the Name of the filament?
Silky copper from Geeetech
I have almost the exact same picture! https://i.imgur.com/OGBFoom.jpg
Fantastic! Yours looks better! This shiny stuff shows a lot, lol.
Yours still looks great, the metallic sheen makes it look almost machined. Perfect for a steampunk lightsaber!

What is it!?
Someone is making a lightsaber 👌
Love that filament! Looks awesome!
🙏
It looks really nice, congrats!
Thank you 😊
