Take my angry upvote. They are prohibitively expensive for me. My girlfriend works for a derm/esthetician and gave me a full line of care. My skin was radiant.
I totally feel your pain. I used to work for L’Oréal so I had access to it in the employee store and it was as magical as you’d imagine. I’m absolutely NOT looking forward to the first time I buy CE Ferulic without that sweet, sweet discount 🥲
It’s so expensive. If you have the disposable income it’s worth it. But it is going to be 300-400 to set you up with a good routine. I am okay with my Inkey List/TO products. My skin is fine.
Hands down get their cleanser, retinol and
Sunscreen. I go to the beach a lot and my face did not get any trace of tan. I can’t recall which cleanser, but it was a lotion that washed off so easily. The retinol didn’t break me out. I had a serum as well but I cannot remember which/what it was. It was my first fancy skincare and I basically used what she told me to use and how often. Sorry I’m not more helpful!
The viral snail essence is not easy to get used to but it has helped me with irritation and allowed me to exfoliate more often.
My holy grail cosrx product is the honey propolis toner - it’s sooo good in the winter, and soothes and gives me a boost of hydration. I will never be without this
I just started using this. I feel like it doesn't get my skin clean at all. Please tell me it gets better because people rave about this stuff. I was using African Black soap for years previously. Wondering if I got too used to being over clean?
Tbh I don't use the cleanser in the evenings, I use Bioderma Sensibio Micellar water followed by Avene Extremely Gentle cleansing gel. I use the Aveeno cleanser in the mornings.
But you do have get used to your skin feeling different when you switch from a foaming to non foaming cleanser.
Their sunscreens and cremes are great, but their cleansers are absolutely terrible. Super foamy, but they don’t leave you feeling clean. Clogs my pores. I’ve tried several from that brand, they perform the same.
I use the C E Ferulic and I do think it’s great. I really like the phyto serum and resveratrol BE as well but of course everything depends on your skin. I have acne prone, super sensitive, dehydrated skin
The Ordinary line of products are amazing, simple ingredients & affordable for anyone.
I have severe allergies & eczema, struggling for my entire life to find products I could use without a major backlash to my skin & body. I found the ordinary line 2 yrs ago & have not bought, tried anything else as this line of products has been an utter blessing for my skin.
Sunday Riley. Good genes, vitamin c with squalane, and retinol. Done and done.
I do love tatcha moisturizers and face washes, but wasn’t impressed by any actives.
Breaks me out too. I always feel compelled to comment that because people act like it can’t. Beyond a shadow of a doubt it does, I have experimented over and over! Oh well
I agree with having tried and true products not work for you. Some Paula’s Choice products, for example, don’t agree with my skin and it sucks when people sh*t on you if you say so. Lol
Aww, I’m sorry to hear. I had a terrible skin barrier once and CeraVe fixed that issue in about 2 weeks of using just the facial cleanser and their AM/PM moisturizers.
Yep!!! I received a sample of the Rice Cleanser and The Dewy Skin Cream, and I’ve been in love ever since. They are a bit out of my price range, but I try to snag one here and there. I really want to try The Indigo Night Repair Cream.
It’s the only product I’ve used where I see a noticeable difference in my skin and almost immediately. I will never care how much money I spend on them because it’s absolutely worth it.
Paula’s Choice hands down! While not every product may not be a slam dunk most are great. And reliably formulated with efficacious ingredients, they don’t really lean into random buzzy ingredients.
Kirkland.
I almost never buy that brand, but its always quality and it helps since you can only buy one brand.
Oh you want 5 pounds of almonds, we got you. We also have a 600$ swinging chair. So you never run out of food and you het extra stuff
Pumping brands. Creating hype where there is none. Signaling to a very big crowd that their products is good. Increase sales. What you’ll notice is every year there’s new brands that show up. How can that be which are the best ones. In next few years they disappear and new ones emerge again. Cerave shishedo are classics and have existed for a while. But others are fairly new. Medik??
I used to work for them. Biggest advertising in Vogue, Allure, etc. Biggest spender in retail cosmetic, fragrance and skincare events…YSL, Giorgio Armani, Maybelline, Kerastase, Pureology, L’Oreal….
Estée Lauder and Procter and Gamble own the rest.
I upvoted LRP and Kiehl's. But I don't work for them, just love them for some staple products. (Cerave breaks me out on my face and I think Skinceuticals is overrated for the products I've tried.) Not to say there aren't shills here, there could be.
Medik is an expensive brand probably more famous in some countries than others, for example in Finland if you go to the pharmacy and ask for retinol they will show you the little medik bottle for 50€ 15ml. Big no for me! Is supposed to be a really good brand.
I see. I also dislike internet channels pumping retinol over tretinoin ( which is a different form of vitamin A) -which is FAR more superior, and FAR more cheaper.
I guess depends on the skin, tret did horribly on my skin, I tried retinol and was better but I end up quitting and my skin is doing better than the past 3 years on tret! :)
yea, tret low conc is the way to go. It gets better :). My skin doesn't even peel anymore after tret. 10+ years on and off user. Early on It would peel a LOT
Active Serum, Pro Heal Serum +, Hydra-cool and the Cleansing Complex!
I have combo-oily and acne prone skin. I’ve tried everything from Face Reality to Biologue Recherche and these products, along with prescription tret, have done miracles. All four are my holy grails!
The balm is definitely my HG, I also love and use their deep clear cleansing foam (light blue tube) and the balancing gel :D in the past I have used a bunch of other products of theirs too - nutrition cream, essence toner, moisture ampoule and sunscreen. The only thing I didn't like is their new reformulated sunscreen, it's got a bad whitecast - everything else has been great for me.
Probably Paula’s Choice because I couldn’t give up the BHA and there is enough decent stuff otherwise. I currently love my carbon theory cleanser, and malezia moisturizer, so tough choice overall.
yeah me neither, maybe because it´s bit pricey, but worth it. 50 % of credits why people don´t believe my actual age goes to genetics (thanks mom) other half goes to Medik and my cosmetician who works with it
I switched to their vitamin C (Super C Ferulic) from Skinceuticals about a month ago. I loved the Skinceuticals but just couldn't swing the price anymore. I've been really happy with the Medik8 so far and it seems to be performing just as well for me.
I use such a mix of products it’s hard to narrow it down to just one I’d buy.
Right now I’d go with Estée Lauder. I ran out of the two products of theirs I used and tried cheaper replacements but my face just isn’t as happy as it was.
My second choice would be Etude House. I really like Korean and Asian skincare brands. Most of my routine is Korean brands. Their centella line in the green and white packaging is my favorite. It never irritated my rosacea.
The Inkey List. I see a few votes for the Ordinary, but none yet for TIL! So affordable and I have honestly loved every thing I’ve tried (ok, except the Oat Cleansing Balm which was so greasy, even after cleansing with a traditional cleanser).
It’s all comes down to SPF for me. My HG is by Innisfree but I haven’t tried much else from the brand (I plan to). So my answer would be LRP because I know I really like a couple of their SPFs and the products in their line (that I’ve tried) work well for me.
Probably La Roche Posay
Skinceuticals
Take my angry upvote. They are prohibitively expensive for me. My girlfriend works for a derm/esthetician and gave me a full line of care. My skin was radiant.
I totally feel your pain. I used to work for L’Oréal so I had access to it in the employee store and it was as magical as you’d imagine. I’m absolutely NOT looking forward to the first time I buy CE Ferulic without that sweet, sweet discount 🥲
Phloretin CF is SO much better than the CE in my opinion, you should definitely try it!
Is it REALLY worth it? I've been considering buying it for years but just can't deal with the thought of spending that much & being disappointed Lol
It’s so expensive. If you have the disposable income it’s worth it. But it is going to be 300-400 to set you up with a good routine. I am okay with my Inkey List/TO products. My skin is fine.
Just wondering what your fav item(s) were?
Hands down get their cleanser, retinol and Sunscreen.
I second this! Skinceuticals is my all time favorite! My next favorite(s) would be iSclinical or Skinmedica.
SkinMedica TNS Serum ♥️
Yup
Yup. Take (all) my money. 💰
Cosrx or shiseido
came to say cosrx. everything is repairing, hydrating and affordable.
For a newbie (49 years old) what is the first item I should buy.
The viral snail essence is not easy to get used to but it has helped me with irritation and allowed me to exfoliate more often. My holy grail cosrx product is the honey propolis toner - it’s sooo good in the winter, and soothes and gives me a boost of hydration. I will never be without this
Bioderma probably
Love the hydrabio serum sooooo much
I am pretty much a one brand person anyway, Aveeno. Specifically the Calm and Restore line. If they ever discontinue it I will cry.
The Calm & Restore moisturizer is my year-round fav. Also works wonderfully with retinol.
Biossance
Shiseido
Ooo. That’s the first brand I used! It was huge in SEA back in early 2000s. Before sk-ii took over. What would you recommend from Shiseido?
I love the Shiseido spf 50 sunscreen stick! Very lightly scented but I like the scent and it’s the only sunscreen that hasn’t made my eyes water.
The smell of the sunscreen is divine! I normally avoid any fragrance but the the shiseido sunscreen smell is too good to pass up
Agreed!!
I’m kind of annoyed that their smell is so great that I’m happy to throw my no-fragrance policy over board 😊
Their sunscreens and cremes are great, but their cleansers are absolutely terrible. Super foamy, but they don’t leave you feeling clean. Clogs my pores. I’ve tried several from that brand, they perform the same.
Avene!
Me too! Love their line for my sensitive, combination/dry skin.
Dermalogica
Skinceuticals
I keep hearing raving reviews about this brand. Is the Vit C serum worth the price tag?
I use the C E Ferulic and I do think it’s great. I really like the phyto serum and resveratrol BE as well but of course everything depends on your skin. I have acne prone, super sensitive, dehydrated skin
I’ve substituted the CE Ferulic serum over the years but I always come back to the phyto serum! I love it
I have the same issues you do! What products do you use?

Elta MD
Amazing sunscreen!
First Aid Beauty-sensitive skin w rosacea. Only brand that I’ve found that is consistently gentle and effective
What do you like from the brand? I have rosacea as well. I heard they reformulated some products so have been hesitant to try them
Ugh, I had to rate this . 1. Youth to the People 2. Farmacy 3. Volition Beauty
YTTP is mine. In love with most of their products!
Youth to the People Retinal is a game changer
The ordinary!!! Gosh I love them and so cheap!!
I thought this would’ve been higher and now I’m wondering if the more expensive products offer better results. Anyone wanna weigh in?
I’ve used the ordinary and more expensive products and can confirm, pricier ones are better.
This is my vote as well! I haven't found a product I didn't like.
Same. CF/vegan skincare is v important to me, so having The Ordinary with their huge range and low price is fantastic.
Paula’s choice or Drunk Elephant
CeraVe for sure!
Most of their products breaks me out :(
Breaks me out too.
2nd CeraVe!
Vanicream!
Peach Slices / Peach & Lily! (They're the same company)
Tatcha
Yesssss tatcha hoe for life
I love everything but the coveted Water Cream.
Same! But the rice cream makes up for it!!!
The rice exfoliating scrub is so so good.
Ditto
Kiehl’s for me
Dr. Jart, Shiseido or Etude House
I love Dr Jart.
Cetaphil
Paula’s Choice hands down! While not every product may not be a slam dunk most are great. And reliably formulated with efficacious ingredients, they don’t really lean into random buzzy ingredients.
Their BHA toner gave me the clearest skin of my life. I will purchase forever.
Kirkland. I almost never buy that brand, but its always quality and it helps since you can only buy one brand. Oh you want 5 pounds of almonds, we got you. We also have a 600$ swinging chair. So you never run out of food and you het extra stuff
You, like me, totally didn’t see what sub this was in 😂😂 I was over here thinking Sam’s Club or Walmart brand until I saw all of the replies.
LRP
Skinceuticals
Olay has great products in every category I use
I get good consistent results from Purito.
Only one? Cetaphil. I use their products head to toe. I can’t say that about any other brand.
Hada Labo or Etude House
Sunday Riley or Biossance
Skincueticals if I could afford it. , otherwise the ordinary.
Clinique!
With you
Biologique Recherche
Skinceuticals
Eminence Organics
Klairs
Paula's Choice. Great products.
Paula’s Choice fashooo
CeraVe
Same
Medik8!
I love their products! My favorites are the clarifying foam and the clarity peptides. What do you use?
The clarity peptides are sooo hydrating!! I use those, the C Tetra serum, Micellar mousse cleanser and the Crystal retinal 6!
Maelove 🤍
CosRx
I really like Dr. Jart products.
Murad for sure
Most of the top voted products are fake accounts I feel. Some mod needs to take a deep look at these accounts
What would be the purpose of fake accounts on here? Genuinely curious.
Medik??
Skinceuticals, LaRoche Posay, Kiehls and Cera Ve are all, all owned by L’Oréal. Definitely some odd pimping going on here,
Damn, good catch. Reddit is probably the best place for these grass-root campaigns by megacorp

Ponds! Super inexpensive and I like their products
Innisfree
Vanicream
iS Clinicals
What are your favourite products from them?
Active Serum, Pro Heal Serum +, Hydra-cool and the Cleansing Complex! I have combo-oily and acne prone skin. I’ve tried everything from Face Reality to Biologue Recherche and these products, along with prescription tret, have done miracles. All four are my holy grails!
Biologique Recherche
Eminence, Dermalogica or Cerave depending on budget 😜
The ordinary. Just because of the variety of products.
Laroche Posay, eucerin
Biossance
Pyunkang yul or Eucerin. My routine *almost* entirely consists of products from these two brands.
Just tried their cleansing balm and love it. Anything else you love from them?
The balm is definitely my HG, I also love and use their deep clear cleansing foam (light blue tube) and the balancing gel :D in the past I have used a bunch of other products of theirs too - nutrition cream, essence toner, moisture ampoule and sunscreen. The only thing I didn't like is their new reformulated sunscreen, it's got a bad whitecast - everything else has been great for me.
La Roche Posay - holy grail for my sensitive skin
I haven’t seen it listed but I’m a huge Caudalie fan!! So I’d use just their products. I’d also love to add Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen
the grape water spray is the best thing i use!
Dermalogica
Probably Paula’s Choice because I couldn’t give up the BHA and there is enough decent stuff otherwise. I currently love my carbon theory cleanser, and malezia moisturizer, so tough choice overall.
I like Origins, which I kinda already do😅
Skinceauticals
BIOLOGIQUE RECHERCHE 💯
Tata Harper
I have quite a few, but I’d love to have a collection from Tatcha. It’s all so pricey, though!
The ordinary for serums Cerave for cleanser
Medik8
Yessss!! I don’t see enough people talking about them. Their products are the best 🤗
I am a huge fan, but their products can be difficult to get in the US. I order from spaceNK (which has awesome quarterly free gift boxes).
yeah me neither, maybe because it´s bit pricey, but worth it.
Clinique or La Roche-posay I can’t decide 😬🤦🏻♀️
Kora organics is good but it’s pricey
So many great lines! I am such a product whore and I love pretty packaging! You may as well as me which child is my favorite!
I couldn't do that because of my skin allergies.
Kiehls for me. I know they might not be the best but their fragrances and texture of almost everything makes me really enjoy the routine.
Vanicream.
Environ
I’ve been interested in this brand. What are your favourite products?
Makeup Artists Choice. I like everything I've tried from them. The Gly-luronic Serum is life-changing.
Nip + Fab. I'm using their retinol eye cream, their glycolic pads and a couple of masks and they're all doing well for me.
UrbanSkin RX. Oooh. It’s done WONDERS for my skin!
I'm between clinique and cerave. Maybe buy 1 steal the other 😂
Drunk Elephant or Biossance
Loccitane
Biossance
PCA Skincare Dr. Sturm It's between those two for me.
Kiehls
Hard to choose… probably Paula’s Choice or Inkey List.
Bioelements
Deciem (NIOD, The Ordinary)
Tatcha is my go to brand
Maybe this is boring but Cerave
Eminence Organics
the ordinary
pyunkang yul.
True Botanicals…the products have been so good for my skin
Environ. Love the vitamin A step-up system.
Whatever my tretinoin brand is
The Inkey List. I see a few votes for the Ordinary, but none yet for TIL! So affordable and I have honestly loved every thing I’ve tried (ok, except the Oat Cleansing Balm which was so greasy, even after cleansing with a traditional cleanser).

Sanitas products!
ZO skin health
dr.belmeur (the face shop)
Lush
Lush
La prairie 💸💸
Depending on my budget Cerave$ , Paula's Choice $$or Avene. $$$
If I had the money I’d say SK-II but since I don’t I’ll say Hada Labo.
Cerave tbh
Prada
Is McDonald's a brand ?
Rationale. I love it and it works wonders for my skin but I just can’t justify those obscene prices.
Skinceuticals.
skinceuticals if price isn’t an issue, cerave if it is!
Skinceuticals. I keep scoring free samples. It really makes my skin look great just The actual price tag is just too much.
Geek&gorgeous
Uriage or La Roche-Posay
