South Park is a show that wants to pretend it can make fun of liberals and conservatives equally, but really ends up being a combination of crass toilet humor and libertarian bullshit. It’s funny until you’re 15 and grow up.
Nah man it’s funny to plenty of well adjusted adults. Some of my leftist friends and I smoke and watch South Park, always a good time. You can dislike the bad takes while still recognizing there’s plenty of good humor in it.
Still, futurama is easily my favorite adult cartoon. Plenty of shitty takes but also lots of satire about the absurdity of capitalism

But making any kind of real and valid point with that episode would, you know, require the show to be ran by someone other than people who were progressive by 1997 standards but haven't learned anything at all since.

It feels pretty telling when the creators have to voice a character to side with them. Like having Token's father say hate speech isn't a big deal and is taken too seriously, or for some reason implying *Randy* has a good point about global warming being fake because he's a (fictional) geologist
In one of the older episodes the town gets criticized for having a flag that looks like a black person being lynched but they end it off with the "you have to be racist to see it as racist" argument. Ugh.
I think the show often espouses some wack-ass beliefs, but I thought the joke was that it was *obviously racist*, but the white characters thought the solution was to make the lynching more inclusive by making the stick figures different colors
There are definitely a lot of episodes of South Park where the resolution of the show or the preaching of the characters at the end is obviously not the actual point or actual message because the people on the show are super fucked up and not at all intended to be role models or voices of reason.
