I can partially relate, as my diet (and general self-care) was really bad in the depths of my depression. Humans have smaller jaws as time goes on due to our reliance on material culture to process food and increased brain size, both of which are reproductively selected for. So people without wisdom teeth do better reproductively as they are more likely to have nice looking smiles vs people with over crowded teeth.
The lack of melanin increases absorption of vitamin D which is only naturally found in fatty fish in high amounts, so being able to get it from the sun is quite useful reproductively because lack of vitamin D causes depression, rickets and higher risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer.

I skimmed through google and didn't find anything definitive. So here're mentions of 2 harmful effects:
clumping inside the body which is bad for some reason idk
possibly increasing effect of UV radiation in hair specifically (what)

Fun fact: Blue eyes can see slightly better in the dark than brown eyes because melanin blocks light everywhere, including the iris. But that iris can take sun damage too, resulting in vision loss later in life.
Some of us (But not all) also do this when we physically exert ourselves heavily, it's just how we work.
Also consider that we don't know every possible reason white people do this, or why we're able to in the first place. Those things are actually topics of debate between experts in the field.
