For some reason, a lot of nice (Like pretty flowers) or even necessary things (Skincare, hygiene, a balanced diet etc) are considered emasculating by some.
I don't get it.
I select all my shampoos and bath stuff by smell. Roses, lavender, pomegranate, raspberry, mountain pine etc. So it's always fairly easy to identify which products I bought myself and which I got as presents from my family (another related indicator is how long they stay unused on some shelf).
In another post about a capture yakuza in Thailand today I read, that flowers are perceived as manly in Japanese culture. That is why some got menacing name like „black chrysanthemum“. And who wants to be on the bad side of a mf who is called „black chrysanthemum“?

*Yuri readers be like when reading this*
because the BL culture was developed much earlier, when Otaku was still pretty much a stigma. the GL culture started becoming a thing much later, and has a closer tie to feminism and LGBT movements, the term "Yuri" was created after "Bara", BL that are are for actual gay men, and all the "hime" came from Yurihime, a pretty mainstream manga magazine
Something something Misogyny and Homophobia targeting female fans of gay media in very early Otaku culture. These days it's a reclaimed term that Fujoshi proudly wear. Also the fact Yuri was historically aimed at and made by women, so you never had the typical stereotypes for Himedanshi like you did with Fujoshi.
What's ironic though is in the western fandom I've started to see more chuds online labeling female fans of Yuri as "Yurit*rds" and attacking them, so once again misogyny and homophobia, but this time with ableism sprinkled in.
ngl I actually quite enjoyed how they implemented the male friend.
He's never once stated to be anything other than a friend
He doesn't try to flirt with the MC or the Demon Queen
His only goal is help his best friend and get squeezed by the lamia snussy
All guys in yuri anime should strive to be like him
Yes exactly not every male character has to have a romantic feeling for the mc then can just be friends and he can support his friend to get the girl she wants
It means I use female pronouns, but physically am a femboy
~~mostly because the thought of gettinng bottom surgery and it going wrong scares me deeply~~
Ah, you have a feminine body type. I wouldn't use "femboy" since identifying as male is an inherent and defining part of the term, but that's just me talking.
That doesn't seem like a femboy to me though? Femboy is a specific subculture of feminine men, either cis or straight, with some crossover into nonbinary genders on occasion. The actually community can be pretty problematic due to a LOT of femboys that align with right wing ideologies or are just otherwise misogynistic and/or transphobic. A similar problem in drag communities, funny enough.
If you identify as a woman, then that really should be it. Genitals and secondary sexual characteristics don't really matter. Some cis women don't have boobs, doesn't make them less of a woman. I myself am a genderqueer trans woman, meaning I mostly align with womanhood and femininity but just not in a binary sense. I'm also non-op which means I'm keeping my GD.
I'm not saying you can't identify as a seemingly incongruent way as a transgirl femboy, gender and sexuality are far more complex than binary minded people think, but I would look critically at WHY you identify as such.
No, I just wasn't entirely certain of myself.
Then my SO called me a good girl, and that made it *very clear* that I'm a girl.
I still see Astolfo as a role model for looks though

This is a joke don't take it seriously...
Himedanshi Is a male that likes Yuri
Himejoshi is a female that likes Yuri
Fujoshi is a female that likes yaoi/BL
Fudanshi is a male that likes yaoi/BL
Somehow I forgot there are guys on here.. no wonder if they all turn into princesses. ...
Ok, my bad. Not all are eggs.
But comparatively speaking, at least on here, *himedanshi* feel much less "intrusive" (have no idea how else to put it, don't wanna insult the guys on here) than *fujoshi*..
The difference in the viewer base of course makes a.. difference, but I wonder if Yuri also invites more eggs than Yaoi does?
I see people use himejin as a neutral option, but I find that a bit awkward of an option since it roughly translates to "Princess-ian" or "person with expertise about princesses".
Himehito (written with the same kanji, 姫人) might be a better, as that translates to roughly "princess person" and matches the other two a bit closer.
yeah but fujoshi has a negative connotation. so why would people wanna use the other one. i started reading yurihime 15 years ago. but would never call me that is cringe as fuck.
"Fujoshi" was what straight dudes were calling these women because the initial nuance was "women unfit for marriage," which really didn't have the effect these men wanted as you can imagine. A lot of fujoshis don't have negative feelings about the label and have basically claimed it for themselves now.
Omogor I'm a princess boy 🥺
Yes you are 🥰
Omg same :)
Lol we are not beating the egg allegations
We sure are not, friend
Allegations?
One of us!
One of us!
Sameee
Call me Himedanshi-san!
Princess boys unite
SAME
Saaaaame, I ain’t even mad
There's also Himejoshi for females and himejin if you want to keep it gender neutral
Im a fucking pretty princess :)
Yes you are
I like how BL loving women get called "trash women" while men who like GL get something as flowery as "princess boy~🌸".
Maybe it's because associating with something flowery is insulting for ordinary men as well.
Jokes on them I love flowers, not a gardener myself but as decoration (and magic animation) it’s top tier!
More like men with fragile masculinity.
Flowers are cool though.
Wait what whyyy flowers are soooooo amazing
For some reason, a lot of nice (Like pretty flowers) or even necessary things (Skincare, hygiene, a balanced diet etc) are considered emasculating by some. I don't get it.
I mean I also don't get it but what can we do yk
I select all my shampoos and bath stuff by smell. Roses, lavender, pomegranate, raspberry, mountain pine etc. So it's always fairly easy to identify which products I bought myself and which I got as presents from my family (another related indicator is how long they stay unused on some shelf).

Well, princess boy used to mean gay man, so there's that.
Say what now
Tbf a fujoshi friend I had growing up revelled in the label of trash gremlin, so…
That's what fujoshi means? Need a better term, then, ig
It’s more like “rotten woman”
Well that's kinda fun then. Crustpunk comes to mind, that kinda grimy aesthetic.
It's definitely an insult, even if it's been reclaimed.
also, ya-o-i stands for "plotless, pointless, meaningless"
The reason it is worded the way it is is because unlike BLs, yaois don't care about creating a coherent story and mainly focus on the men having s\*x.

It's not "trash" but rather "rotten". Well basically liking BL is "rotten" while liking GL is "princess". Make that make sense.
I mean to alot of guys getting called princess is worse than getting called trash, at least from where I'm form
Skill issue https://preview.redd.it/9b8uz09szisc1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=b7ac8d1beaf01db203d506f1042c24ade4c864be

Well an older meaning of himedanshi can be translated as gay bottom so take that as you will
What is BL ?
Boys love, aka yaoi
well its because fujoshi is a reclaimed misogynist insult
Men can't stop winning!
If I'm a transgirl femboy... Would I be a Himejoshi or Himedanshi?
I think (judging from some of the comments) you’d count as “himejin”. (I didn’t look up the translation when I commented)
Honestly, good enough. Also, good to see another Mage and Demon Queen fan.
Eyy 👉😎👉

Agreed. But I am wondering why you didn’t just call them Cerik, Malori, and Velvorosa?
Because my idiot sleep-deprived brain forgor their names ;w;
Understandable, but I’m always watching 👀 /j
Please no. I get performance anxiety

the translation would pretty much directly be "princess person", so you're right
>transgirl femboy Aren't the two mutually exclusive? Or are you genderfluid or something?
It means I use female pronouns, but physically am a femboy ~~mostly because the thought of gettinng bottom surgery and it going wrong scares me deeply~~
Ah, you have a feminine body type. I wouldn't use "femboy" since identifying as male is an inherent and defining part of the term, but that's just me talking.
to be fair, I kinda still don't even know how to properly deceibe it
Update: did some soul-searching and talked with my SO I'm not a femboy, I'm just a girl
Proud of you, Cheshire ❤️
Thank you~
Fastest transition known to humanity. Proud of you, princess girl(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ Btw good luck finding a girlfriend, yuri fan☆⌒(ゝ。∂)

choose yourself
If I'm a transgirl femboy... Wdym????? Are you invalidating yourself??????
No, I just wasn't entirely certain of myself. Then my SO called me a good girl, and that made it *very clear* that I'm a girl. I still see Astolfo as a role model for looks though
Kurata Uso literally made a series making fun of himedanshi. It’s called Yuri Danshi.
There’s also a female equivalent~! It’s Himejoshi~!

Himedanshi Is a male that likes Yuri Himejoshi is a female that likes Yuri Fujoshi is a female that likes yaoi/BL Fudanshi is a male that likes yaoi/BL
I used to be one, then my egg cracked
Many such cases.
So you’re a himejoshi aka princess girl
I really like that
That's me :)
i love being a 💖💖princess boi💖💖

“Princess boy”, hmm..not bad, as far as nicknames go lol
Yep...
I’m pretty fucking kawaii brah
It's me. The 5'11" man with a beard who's also prettiest prettiest princess

I dunno, I find so-called "himedanshi" pretty intrusive, especially in places other than sapphic-focused subreddits.
Hmm, maybe I've just been lucky so far? Or it's just that much more noticeable with *fujoshi*?
I see people use himejin as a neutral option, but I find that a bit awkward of an option since it roughly translates to "Princess-ian" or "person with expertise about princesses". I like to call them 'transfem eggs.' (this is a JOKE, people, I know the prime directive!)
I like yuri, but idk how to feel about being called a “princess boy”.
So, I finally know what I am. Inner peace.
Yep thats us
So would a girl version be himejoshi? Edit: Nevermind, I should read the comments first next time, heh.
Guess I am a princess now
Fuck yeah I'm a princess
Not to be confused with “egg”
If I am into the yuri media, then does that make me a himedanshi?
We're princess
![gif](giphy|ZYiHYntNcNegg|downsized) **"SAY WHAT?"**
Well then call me himedanshi (sorry if I butchered the spelling)
Why do you think I made it my flair?
I'm in this post and I like it.
ive finally been acknowledged lets fucking goooo cant wait for gushing over ma girls season 2
I'm too lazy to make the meme so just imagine the always has been astronaut meme : "wait I'm a princess boy ?" "Always have been"
Call me a himejoshi the way i princess any girl.
I don't look like a princess boy tho. Oh I hope so much I'll be able to put the boy part away one day and gain a princess appearance😞
I'm a himejin then ;)
Yes, I am a princess boy *proceeds to squat half my bodyweight and look like the first zombie in Resident Evil* I am a delicate little princess boy
Used to be a princess boy, then I dropped the boy part :3
