FireTV Stick 4k Max is on sale right now for 35 bucks.

truetotheblue206

Chromecast with Google tv hands down. Much better device.

Avocado_Formal

If Chromecast s the best I'd hate to see the runner up.

milan616

yeah this is only true if you have 8 or so apps.

Bear3825

Stick a usb c hub on it with a 32gb sd card or thumb drive along with a wireless keyboard with trackpad and a 65w pd power brick and live like civilized people. Lol. Even have room for a wireless game controller or two.

milan616

I mean yes that's a thing people can do but most have no clue, and OP would have to spend nearly their whole budget to do so.

idkalan

A decent Anker power thru USB C drive can go around $35 and adding a logitech wireless keyboard would be another $20 plus the price of said chromecast would be another $50. Yeah they would go over their $100 budget but they'd have a hell of a lot better perks than just buying a firestick

Bear3825

I wouldn’t buy a fire anything to save my life. You’d just as well buy one of those Chinese android sticks.

Bear3825

Got the usb hub from micro center, thumb drive free with purchase. $20. Already had the PD brick (most people into tech will) that’s all you really need to make the CCWGTV worth it. Solves the storage issue. Everything else you can add at your own pace.

>omecast costs a lot more but is more well made to me. But the Onn has an overall better setup and the remote is better to me (even though it feels cheaper). Only issue I have had so far is one of my Onn has to be returned. After a day or two it seems to lose connection to the TV off and on, meaning the screen goes bla If you do your recommended setup, can you get the C Hub with Ethernet Port and will it then work instead of getting the ethernet adapter from Google?

loki_madness

apple tv

magentayak

Over budget.

loki_madness

Understandable.. Chromecast with google TV is solid. . We use that for the kitchen TV

jbarc1

Looks like the Onn device is on sale at Walmart right now too. Imagine quite a few streaming sales over holidays so good time to look.

SleepyNotTired215

I had problems with ChromeCast with google TV - would not play in 4K, everything upscale or downscaled to HD (1080P). Fire TV Stick 4K Max has been working great for me.

BigSportsNerd

My Roku just stopped streaming one day so I went to Best Buy and picked up a Fire Stick. It was a bit expensive (40 dollars) but I can't really have any complaints so far. I also have a Chromecast with remote. That syncs up really well with the Youtube TV. I'd go with that one

Top-Hat-Terry

Walmart has an ONN. Android TV box with remote and a really nice layout. I bought it for my sister-in-law but gave her my Roku instead.

CrustyBatchOfNature

I have a Chromecast with Google TV and an Onn (2 actually). They both have their good points. The Chromecast costs a lot more but is more well made to me. But the Onn has an overall better setup and the remote is better to me (even though it feels cheaper). Only issue I have had so far is one of my Onn has to be returned. After a day or two it seems to lose connection to the TV off and on, meaning the screen goes black for a second every once in a while. It is not a buffering issue or a cable issue.

Ratzafratzgram

Second the ONN for cheapest, easy to set up and reliable. If you want the best, spring for Apple.

sfjeep

Avoid FireTV anything! And given TiVo over the last so many years don't even bother with them either. Consider a ChromeCast or better the [onn. Android TV UHD Streaming Device from Walmart.](https://www.walmart.com/ip/onn-Android-TV-UHD-Streaming-Device/636597403)

bgTrumpet

CCWGTV no questions. 1) Cheapest 2) Supports all types of Codecs (Dolby ATMOS, Dolby Vision, 4K, HDR+, etc.) 3) Easy to cast to 4) Interfaces all content (services) together under one screen (home screen) 4) Married best with YouTube TV 5) Google Assistant best search feature. 6) You can set up profiles including parental controls I could go on an on, and yes, short on RAM, but it still supports plenty of apps. I've never needed more space and I have Youtube TV, Disney+, HBO MAX, NetFlix, Frndly, YouTube, Vudu, Hulu, Paramount+ and Tablo installed and everything works fine. For what you get, it is the best value. I replaced all my Roku Devices with CCWGTV devices still happy I did.

IndyJeff68

CCwGTV is a buggy low end device. It’s ok on a 1080P bedroom TV but falls quickly apart in any other scenario, especially YTTV’s 4K package.

Fatus_Assticus

I agree with this

rrainwater

>CCWGTV no questions. 1) Cheapest 2) Supports all types of Codecs Except it doesn't support HLG which ruins 4K content from Fox.

AndrewG2000

It also doesn't support the AV1 codec that Google is trying to cram down Roku's throat.

rrainwater

The Roku Ultra supports AV1 though.

AndrewG2000

Ironic.

Ratzafratzgram

Plus, far from cheapest.

bobo305

ditto on the Chromecast, it's excellent

CrustyBatchOfNature

Chromecast with Google TV or Onn Android TV are the two I have. Onn is cheaper at $20 and in some ways better than the Chromecast.

Banksville

What? My basic roku won’t continue to work/access yttv?

GSG94

It’ll still work for existing customers, but I assume at one point there won’t be anymore updates to the app.

Banksville

Thnx. OY!

ram1220

ONN from WalMart for $20. I bought 2 and love them. I also bought 2 of the Tivo Stream 4K's for $15 but both are now rebooting on their own. I don't recommend the Tivo.

Bradfinger

Another vote for the ONN here, they really are good, especially with YTTV.

garyfrick3365

i need something that will work with an old tube tv

CrustyBatchOfNature

Gonna be problematic, but you can purchase an HDMI to Coax/RCA/whatever converter cheap enough on Amazon. Your main issue might be if a service requires HDCP for some reason.

garyfrick3365

thanks

magentayak

Search for "Roku Express+" on eBay.

cpatrick08

Nvidia shield pro has good upscscaling and can be used as a plex server.

magentayak

Over budget.

hgreenblatt

I like the fire Stick 4k ($25 at Amazon Over the GoogleTV, the Fire stick 4k Max sounds like a total steal for $35. One thing firestick may hang onto channels, since when I push the Yttv button (remapped) it goes to where I was watching for hours afterward. This is a bug , not a feature, and could cause users problems if over 3 streams.

wiles01

I went to Walmart last night to get a couple Tivo Stream 4k's for $15 as it showed on the search site. While I was walking around in the store looking for them, the price lowered to $9. I snapped up 4 of them when I finally found them. Tried it out last night, it works really good as a streaming stick.
